Hey everybody, I'm back with another update for Rise of the Hybrids. This may be the last update for a while since I will be starting classes again next week and I have a lot on my plate that I will be responsible for. Quick note, I have reduced some of the OC numbers that submitted to the story because I know they aren't reading it. That being said, I still need some OCs, definitely more bad guys and two types haven't even been applied for. Anyway, let's get to the chapter.

Chapter Summary: Yuri and Claire have an emotional discussion about Claire's secret about being a hybrid. Meanwhile, the new rookie of Task Force Hunter may have bitten off more than he can chew with his arrogance.

Warning: Strong language, violence and implied sexual themes

Claire blinked in surprise as the question hit her. She did not expect Yuri to even know that she was a hybrid, yet here he was asking. She had no idea how he figured it out and was wondering how he got his hands on that information. As she closed her eyes to think of how he learned her secret her thoughts drifted over to the hybrids that she helped bandage up hours ago. Her eyes snapped open as she figured it out.

"Which one of them told you?" Claire asked as she leaned back in her seat.

"David did," Yuri replied as he gulped some more beer down. "Now, answer my question."

"I've been a hybrid since I was fourteen. I unlocked the A-Gene after I turned fourteen when I made the connection with my Ralts."

"Why didn't you tell me about that? Do you know how much problems you just created for me?"

Claire flinched as Yuri's tone became harsh. The only reason why she kept the secret to herself was because she did not want to risk drawing attention to herself. Ever since she came to America from Hoenn she knew that the A-Gene was a hot topic and it could get her in trouble if her secret ever got out. She was eager to start a new life and get on with it by using her skill as a doctor. When she had little success with getting a job, she stumbled upon Yuri and his group when she came in for a few drinks a few months back. She told Yuri that she was a doctor and jumped at the chance to take the job he offered her until she was able to find another. However, Yuri was not going to give her a job until she gave him a full background about herself and the one thing that she should have told him she neglected to for her own protection.

Claire knew that the United States was using the A-Gene to create super soldiers after watching the news but when she eavesdropped on the conversation Yuri had with the new group, she was shocked. Her kind was being hunted down by the government in the shadows to be tested on and it was only a matter of time until they found her. She ran her hands through her shoulder length, auburn brown hair and sighed.

"I'm sorry I did not tell you about this, Yuri," Claire said as she looked up at him. "I was trying to protect myself and I felt that if I told you what I was, you would either throw me out into the street or think I was some sort of freak."

A loud slap echoed around the room and Claire's head was turned away, eyes wide with some surprise. Her hand touched her stinging cheek and she glanced back at Yuri to see a look of hurt and frustration. He took another drink from his beer and set it down on the desk.

"What kind of man do you take me for? Claire, when we met and talked that night, we became friends," Yuri said as he leaned back in his chair. "We all have our demons, but what I can't fathom is that after we got to know each other you would think of me in such a light."

"I'm sorry," Claire said again. "I know it was wrong to be judgmental of you about that."

"Claire, what do you think people think of me? I'm a foreigner, a Russian at that. I'm a tall man, bald and intimidating. You don't think people see me as some sort of freak?"

"No, but my situation isn't exactly the same as yours."

"I'm just trying to make an analogy to relate to you."

Claire's hand left her cheek and her fingers interlocked. She could not look Yuri in the eye as he tried to make her see his point.

"Now, we need to get to the problem here," Yuri said as he finished the drink. "David told me the situation he and his friends are in and needless to say, now that I know your little secret, I have to make a tough decision and neither of us will like it."

"What's this decision?" Claire asked as her anxiety built.

"With the government after you it is only a matter of time until they find you. I know that you came over here from Hoenn but they can still look you up in their databases. In order for this to work out in our favor, I am relieving you from duty so you can get moving and me and my men will close shop and relocate elsewhere."

Claire's head snapped up as she heard Yuri's choice. She was being fired because of being a hybrid, but Yuri claimed it was for the greater good for the both of them. In a way she could see why he did it but deep down she was hurt, angry and betrayed. Her fists clenched as she watched Yuri open another beer and bring it to his lips. She did not know why she did it, but all she saw was her hand swipe at Yuri and smack the bottle from his hand. The bottle flew into the air and shattered on the floor spilling the contents. Yuri's look of surprise turned to one of anger.

"So, that's it then?" Claire asked as her voice cracked. "You're just tossing me to the curb like that?"

"I am not tossing you aside. I'm doing this for you so you can be safe you stupid girl!" Yuri snapped back.

"What you're doing is saving your own skin! Once I'm gone you're taking your posse somewhere else and leaving me alone! You're the only one I can trust here!"

Yuri growled and stood up as his fists slammed down on the desk. His eyes bore into Claire's cobalt ones and she returned the glare with full force.

"Don't give me that shit! Claire, if I wanted to toss you aside I wouldn't have even offered you to be the personal doctor for me and my men here. I warmed up to you because we had a connection and that's not easy to gain with a man like me. The only two people I trust here outside of my men are you and David. I could have just told you to fuck off that night!"

Claire got to her feet and her eyes glowed a light blue for a moment. Her anger was starting to get the better of her as she kept her stare with Yuri. Yuri's body began to tremble as he was forced back into his chair. Claire walked around the desk and rested her hands on both sides to trap Yuri in as she kept him pinned with her power.

"So, you're going to kill me now? Is that it?" Yuri asked as he glared at Claire.

"No, I'm not going to kill you. I want to smack some sense into you!" Claire sneered.

"Yeah? Well fuckin' do it! I'll put you in the ground once I get free!"

Claire brought her arm back and punched as hard as she could. Her knuckles smashed across Yuri's face and she did it again and again. The more she punched Yuri the more her anger started to fade and be replaced with pain and sadness. She punched him again and gripped the front of his collar that was now stained crimson. Tears started to well in her eyes as Yuri turned to look at her with his grey orbs. She did a number on him and a few sobs escaped her lips. Yuri's face was now bruised and bloodied and his glare began to soften as he saw her lose her composure.

"I hate you so much," Claire sobbed as she pounded his chest.

"Claire," Yuri said as he tried to get her attention.

"I hate you!"

"Claire."

"I hate you!"

"Claire!"

Claire did not realize that as she was beating Yuri her telekinetic hold on him had long since vanished. Yuri quickly rose to his feet and pushed Claire back. She fell back against his desk and got ready to punch him but found her wrists pinned by Yuri's strong hands. She looked up at Yuri through her teary eyes and tried to break free.

"Let go of me you bastard!" Claire grunted out as she struggled to break free.

"Not happening," Yuri replied as he looked down at her.

"Get off me you fucker!"

"No. Not until you calm down."

Claire continued to struggle against Yuri's hold but it was no use. If she used her powers against him more than she had, not only would it hurt him, but it would also attract unwanted attention from Yuri's men. Her struggling began to subside as she stared up at Yuri. Yuri pinned her wrists under one hand and used his now free hand to reach for her face. Tears continued to stream down Claire's cheeks as Yuri brought his hand up to her. She was waiting for him to hit her but it never came. Instead, she felt a thumb gently wipe the tears away from her. Claire turned to look at Yuri and her eyes met his which were now calm. She was surprised when Yuri leaned in closer to her face.

"Yuri?" Claire asked with some surprise.

"Have you calmed down yet?" Yuri asked as he stroked her cheek with his thumb again.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm sorry."

Claire was about to ask Yuri what he was doing but was unable to. The second she opened her mouth to speak, Yuri closed the gap between them and pressed his lips to hers. Claire's eyes were wide with surprise at Yuri's surprise kiss and her mind went blank. At first she didn't do anything, but she soon kissed back. Claire could taste the coppery flavor of blood on Yuri's lips. Yuri's hands rested on Claire's hips as he continued kissing her and Claire's hands rested on his cheek and chest. He fell back into his chair taking Claire with him and smirked as a moan met his ears. His hands traced their way inside her shirt and rested on her flesh and elicited a gasp from her.

Claire broke away for air and rested her forehead against Yuri's. She felt a shiver go down her spine as Yuri's hand gently caressed her back and rested her head on his shoulder. She turned to look at him as he continued with his strokes.

"What was that for?" Claire asked.

"I wanted to show you that I was not throwing you aside," Yuri said as he ran his hand through her hair. "Even though I am releasing you, you are still my friend and I will always be here to help you."

Claire's heart was racing as Yuri told her that and she kissed him again. She gave a squeak of surprise as Yuri's hands rested on the underside of her thighs and lifted her up. She wrapped her legs around his waist and giggled as he carried them over to the bed that was in the back of the room through another door. He kicked the door shut and sat on the bed only to be pushed back by Claire. Her hands rubbed his chest as she leaned down and kissed him again, causing Yuri to give a groan. Claire in turn let a moan escape her lips as Yuri's fingertips continued dancing on her skin while he kissed her collarbone.

"Yuri, wait," Claire said as she sat up on his lap.

"What's wrong? Am I making you uncomfortable?" Yuri replied.

Claire turned towards the door and flicked her wrist and a lock clicked into place. She looked down at Yuri with a smirk as she pulled his shirt over his head. Yuri had a cocky look of his own as he sat up and wrapped his arms around her.

"I don't want to be disturbed and I'm not done with you yet," Claire whispered into his ear.

"Well, allow me to help you with that," Yuri said as his hands gripped the bottom of her shirt as he kissed her again.

Langdon's footsteps echoed around the hall as he traversed it. He decided to take a walk after Bill and Seishiro finished checking in with the intel they managed to receive. As he made his way to the holding cells, his mind drifted back to the plan that he spent the past week making. He was more than positive that his team would successfully pull it off but he could not help but get the feeling he was missing something. That was one thing he hated. Despite being a very intelligent man, Langdon would sometimes overlook something very critical and it would come back to haunt him. He shook his head and cursed under his breath as he tried to empty his mind to relax. He was cooped up in his office all day doing work and planning the next moves of the task force and all he wanted to do now was get rid of his stress and relax.

His hand went down to his pocket and rested on the pack of cigarettes in it. He pulled out the pack along with his zippo lighter as he rounded the corner. He plucked one of the cigarettes from the pack and placed it in his mouth before putting the pack away. Langdon then thought about the prisoners and decided he would go check on them to see if any of them had a change in condition. The lighter gave a click as it snapped open and Langdon's fingers fiddled with it to create a small flame. He lit the death stick and snapped the lighter shut as he took a long drag. He tucked the lighter away and pulled the cigarette from his lips to release a stream of smoke.

Langdon continued his trek down the hall towards the Delta-Sector to check on Reelah first. The last time he had any form of contact with her was almost a week back when he had to cause her pain and force her to eat. That girl had been nothing but trouble for Langdon and at times he wished that she would attempt to break free so he could kill her just to be rid of her. Langdon came to the doors of Delta-Sector and they opened with a hiss as he entered. They closed behind him and he continued his stride down the hall to the cellblock. He rounded another corner and was nearing the door on the right but his eyes narrowed as he saw someone exit the cellblock. When the man turned, Langdon's eyes narrowed in anger when he identified him.

"What are you doing down here, Westbrook?" Langdon asked as his eyes bore into the Dragon-type.

Drake turned to see Langdon and looked a little surprise but quickly regained composure. He gave a shrug as his hands dug into his pockets as he returned Langdon's gaze.

"I came to check on the prisoners since you didn't do it yet today," Drake replied.

"I was on my way to do that now," Langdon said as he puffed out some more smoke. "Now tell me something…"

"What?"

"Why are you down here? I told you when you first got here that only Bill, Seishiro and I are the only A-Gene users that can enter Delta-Sector. Last I checked, you don't have the proper clearance to be in here."

"Do I look like I give a shit about what you say? I told you, I don't respect anyone unless they can beat me in a fight."

Langdon's anger was reaching its breaking point and it only continued to grow with Drake's lack of respect and cocky attitude. The young man before him smirked at him and crossed his arms as he leaned on the wall.

"I think you got the wrong impression about me, so I think it's only fair to you that I explain the type of guy I am," Langdon said as he puffed out more smoke.

"Please, tell me more," Drake said with sarcasm as he rolled his eyes.

"I am the guy who sees this world as a chessboard. There are six types of pieces and each piece has its own role to play. There is the pawn, the rook, the knight, the bishop, the queen and the king."

"What are you trying to say?"

"Think about all the A-Gene users in Task Force Hunter. Each of us is one of those pieces. Think about this long and hard, boy. Where do you rank compared to me?"

Drake's smirk left his face and was replaced with a scowl. His crossed arms were starting to bleed a little as the claws from his fingers stabbed into them. If there was one thing in life he hated outside of bullies, it was being talked down to. Unless Langdon beat him in a fight, he would never acknowledge him as the piece he was implying that he was.

"Where I rank does not matter because it's like I said. I will never acknowledge you until you can beat me in a fight. I never lose, so I might as well be the king," Drake replied.

As soon as Drake gave his response, a deadly silence came between the two of them. Langdon said nothing as he looked down at the ground and extinguished his cigarette with his boot. He then glared up at Drake and his eyes began to glow a light blue again. The next thing Drake knew, he was being pinned against the opposite wall with Langdon's telekinesis. He growled as he glared at Langdon who walked over to him as he pulled out his pistol. Langdon got in Drake's face and pressed the barrel of his pistol under Drake's chin.

"Listen you little parasite, you best watch your mouth. I am your superior whether you like it or not. Your arrogance will be your downfall. Now here's the first and only warning I will give you. You better wise up and respect your betters around here or I'll put your fuckin' brain to sleep. Do you understand me?" Langdon sneered.

Drake said nothing as he glared up at Langdon. He could feel his anger growing and he started to struggled against the psychic binds that Langdon placed on him. To Langdon's surprise, Drake managed to pull himself off the wall and stand up. No sooner had he done that when his claws suddenly extended and he gave a wild slash. His slash met thin air and he glanced around wildly for Langdon.

"Alright you stupid fool. If you want to fight me and prove that you are stronger, meet me in Bravo-Sector," Langdon said as he reappeared behind Drake.

"Fine with me! I'll show you that I am stronger you!" Drake retorted.

With that, Langdon's body flickered before vanishing altogether. Drake scoffed and his claws retracted as he started to walk towards Delta-Sector's exit. As he walked toward the exit, a smirk came to his face. He was finally going to get his wish to battle Langdon after he wanted to prove that he was stronger. He was a Dragon-type and nothing was capable of matching them in terms of strength.

"This fight's in the bag. I'll show him the true difference in our strength," Drake thought as he left through the doors to Delta-Sector and continued to the elevator.

Langdon finished folding up his duster and placed in on the table along with his cigarettes, MK23 and lighter. He tightened the holsters for his .44 revolver and ka-bar. He had every intention on defeating Drake and knocking him down a few pegs so he could discover where his place truly was. He began stretching after he teleported into the arena as he waited for Drake. While he was stretching and planning his strategy, he could see the other A-Gene users entering the observing area. Before he entered the sector, he stopped by Amiko's room and after brushing off her flirtatious nature, he told her to have the other A-Gene users come to the sector and watch the fight. His goal was to instil respect into the newcomers to show that he was the alpha and he planned to do that by defeating Drake.

A small thud came from behind Langdon and he glanced over his shoulder to see Drake stand up after jumping into the arena. Drake was sending the most intense glare that he could at Langdon, but could tell that Langdon was not intimidated at all. In fact, he did not seem even remotely threatened. The thought alone angered Drake and amped up his desire to defeat Langdon and show that he was the strongest.

"Good, now, let's get down to business. This will be a fight between you and me. Our Pokémon will not be used and we are permitted to use our powers to their fullest ability," Langdon explained.

"Fine with me!" Drake sneered.

"One more thing."

Langdon pulled out his revolver and loaded six rounds into it and closed the cylinder. He held up the gun as he looked at Drake who was now eyeing it with curiosity.

"I have loaded six shots into my gun here. By the time this fight is over, the sixth shot will be in your skull," Langdon said.

"So, you're going to kill me?" Drake replied.

"It depends on how much you want to survive. If you want to win, you need to come at me with the intent to kill or I will kill you. It's as simple as that."

"Fine, I'll just kill you and take your place!"

"Fine, then kill me if you can."

Langdon smirked inwardly as he got the reaction he desired. His taunt was more than enough to spark Drake into attacking first. He put his first step of his plan into motion and it would not be long before his last part would come into play.

Drake shot at Langdon as fast as he could with a roar. His right arm was back and his claws extended to slash at him. He was upon Langdon and he gave a ferocious cry as he slashed at him. Drake smirked as he felt his claws rake through Langdon and turned back expecting to see him in pain, but he was surprised when Langdon gave a flicker before vanishing.

"What the hell was that?" Drake muttered.

"Predictable," Langdon whispered in Drake's ear.

"Shit!"

Drake spun around and attempted to jump back but was stopped mid-jump. Langdon's hand was outstretched and his eyes were glowing a light blue as his telekinetic hold held him in place. The constriction Drake was feeling was painful and the pain kept increasing. Langdon then gave a hard shove with his hand and Drake was sent soaring back to the wall. There was a loud crash as Drake slammed into the wall and a cloud of dust enveloped the area he hit. Langdon pulled out his .44 and fired one round where he saw Drake hit the wall. There was a loud bang as the powerful round left the revolver and went for Drake.

Drake fell from the cloud of smoke just as Langdon fired, avoiding the bullet that would have caused him some pain. He looked up at Langdon from his knelt position and stood up with a smirk on his face again.

"Is that the best you got, old man? That was nothing!" Drake taunted as he dashed at Langdon again.

"I guess I'm somewhat impressed, but then again, the amount I used on you paled in comparison to what I did to the other Dragon-type prisoner we had," Langdon replied.

Drake growled again as he took a deep breath to build power. He opened his mouth and a large stream of fire shot out of his mouth and went for Langdon. Langdon held up one hand and a thick yellow coat covered his entire body just as the flames hit him. Drake scoffed as the flames covered Langdon's being and he pulled out his hunting knife that was concealed in his hoodie. The smoke was starting to clear as Drake charged at Langdon with his knife ready to strike. As he got closer, his eyes widened in surprise when they saw Langdon standing there waiting for him. Langdon's body was covered in minor burns and his clothes were singed from the attack.

"You're going to have to do better than that," Langdon said as he raised his .44 and fired again.

This time his aim was true. The bullet hit Drake in his shoulder and stunned him briefly which allowed Langdon time to attack him again. He closed his eyes and focused on the spot he wanted on the room and began to divert his power to attack. Once he finished he opened his eyes and looked at Drake who had recovered from the bullet that hit him. His hand was covered with blood after it nursed the wound in his shoulder.

"Are you starting to understand the difference between our power?" Langdon asked.

"I'm just warming up!" Drake retorted. "This ends now!"

Drake's fangs became more defined as they elongated and his eyes became more feral. Langdon was a little intrigued with what Drake was trying to do and cursed under his breath when he realized what was coming next. Drake lunged at Langdon and his jaw opened wide. Langdon had no time to teleport out of the way and did the next best thing. He focused his power like he did when he used Light Screen and his eyes opened wide as he felt Drake's fangs pierce his neck. Blocking out the pain, Langdon's eyes narrowed as he thought where Drake bit him.

"He went for my carotid artery," Langdon thought as he buried the barrel of his revolver in Drake's stomach. "He knows how to kill, there's no mistaking that."

Langdon squeezed off one round from his revolver and Drake recoiled in pain as the shot hit his stomach. He then clutched his neck where Drake had bit him and could feel blood running freely from it. If he did not use Reflect when he did, Drake would have killed him. He brought the grip of the revolver down on Drake's crown and forced him back with the stunning blow.

"How?" Drake growled as he glared at him. "How are you alive? I went for your artery!"

"I will admit that would have killed me if I didn't defend myself. You know how to kill, that's for sure."

"That doesn't answer my question! You should still be dead! I bit your artery open!"

Langdon removed his hand from his neck and blood continued to flow out of his wound and stain his shirt.

"I used Reflect and that cuts the damage of a physical attack in half. You may have bit at the artery, but I prevented you from getting to the artery," Langdon explained.

"Then I'll be sure to get it this time!" Drake shot back as his fangs retracted and he gripped his knife.

"No, because this is where I will finish our fight."

"What are you talking about?"

Drake suddenly felt a strong blast crash into his stomach and felt the air leave his body. The force of the hit sent him back towards the wall. Another loud bang met his ears as Langdon fired his .44 again and the bullet entered his thigh. Drake's rage had reached its limit and his adrenaline kicked in. The second he hit the ground, he burst to his feet and only saw red as he looked at Langdon who was staring calmly at him. He dashed at Langdon and his speed had increased from before. His eyes met Langdon's and he barely saw that they changed color as he attacked back. Drake was surprised when he did not feel a telekinetic attack hit him like Langdon's Future Sight did moments ago and he brought both his knife back and his claws extended once again.

"Die!" Drake yelled.

There was a sickening crunch as Drake's knife and claws pierced Langdon's chest and a triumphant grin spread across his face. He looked up at Langdon and relished the look of shock and pain in his eyes. Langdon coughed and a large glob of blood came from his mouth and splattered on Drake's face, but he didn't care. He just killed Langdon and proved that he was in fact stronger.

"I told you that I would win," Drake said as he twisted both claw and blade in Langdon's chest.

Langdon said nothing as he looked at Drake. Drake's eyes narrowed when he noticed something was off. Langdon's lips curled up in a smirk as his body began to shift until it was replaced with someone else. When Langdon finished shifting, Drake's eyes were wide with horror when his knife and claw was now embedded in a boy that he had accidently killed when he went berserk years back. The boy had blood trickling from his lips and he was glaring up at Drake.

"Y-You freak! You will pay!" The boy yelled.

"I-I didn't mean to," Drake stammered as he pulled his claws and blade from the boy.

"When the cops catch you, you will pay!"

With that the boy fell to the ground and blood pooled around his corpse. Drake's blood ran cold as he took a step back in surprise. He was reliving the memory he had in Unova when he met his partner, a Bagon at the time, and unlocked the A-Gene in a fit of rage when the bullies started to beat him. He ended up killing one bully while severely injuring the others after they attacked him when he tried to stop them from hurting Bagon. He and Bagon fled Unova as Drake feared he would be killed by the authorities if he stayed and they had been on the run ever since.

"What the hell is this?" Drake yelled as he looked around wildly to see endless darkness.

"This is my world," Langdon's voice echoed. "In here I am God and you are subject to anything I wish to throw at you."

Drake wheeled around and saw Langdon standing there. He growled and blindly charged at Langdon after he finally realized it was him that made him relive the memory that haunted him. Langdon vanished before he could even get close and reappeared to the side. Drake glared at Langdon and gave a frustrated scream as he ran at him again.

"Do you finally see the difference between us, Westbrook?" Langdon asked. "You cannot win!"

"Shut up!" Drake roared. "I'll kill you!"

"Then do it! I'm standing right here."

Langdon vanished again and reappeared before Drake and disappeared when Drake swung at him. He kept disappearing and reappearing all around Drake and he was now becoming confused and disoriented. Drake's hands clutched at his head as he tried to follow Langdon's movements to no avail.

"Fight me you coward!" Drake yelled.

"Fine. I've toyed with you enough as it is," Langdon replied as he suddenly appeared in front of Drake and jumped.

Drake stumbled back and was shocked when Langdon dove straight through him. He froze and trembled as the realm around him began to deteriorate into nothing. His eyes scanned the area wildly for Langdon, but found no trace of him. The next thing Drake knew he was falling into a dark abyss of nothing. As he was falling he felt something hard hit his chest and he curled up in pain. When he opened his eyes, he was now back standing in the center of the arena. His hands were clutching at his chest which was now bleeding and he felt some bile rising in his throat.

Drake hunched over and vomited on the ground before looking up to see Langdon lowering his .44. He was now having conflicting emotions of anger and fear as he looked at the man before him. Langdon held up his hand and Drake was slowly lifted off the ground. Drake let out a loud scream of pain as Langdon moved the fingers on his outstretched hand. Whenever Langdon's finger moved, Drake felt part of his body stretch out until a loud crack met his ears. Langdon then brought his arm down and Drake's body was slammed into the concrete floor.

Drake coughed wildly as he had the wind knocked out of him again and he spat up another glob of blood. He tried to move his body, but was met with incredible pain. His struggles became more frantic as he heard Langdon's boots echo with each step as he walked toward him. Langdon was now towering over him with his .44 in hand and a cold look on his face. He stepped on Drake's chest where he shot him with the fifth round and he aimed the .44 at his head.

"Do you see it now, boy?" Langdon asked in a low tone. "Do you now see why I am the alpha of the task force?"

Drake couldn't say anything, he could barely think for that matter. The way he saw it, he was screwed. He came at Langdon with everything he could dish out and he was defeated. All he could think about now was when Langdon would pull the trigger and fire the last round in his head.

"How?" Drake rasped.

"How what?" Langdon replied.

"How did you do it? How did you beat me?"

Langdon said nothing as he crouched down and put pressure on Drake's wound. His onyx eyes bore into Drake as he decided to enlighten his subordinate.

"As you know, I'm a Psychic-type," Langdon answered. "While I can be a physical fighter, my prowess lies with ranged attacks and illusions. Psychic-types thrive when they use illusions and that's how they win. When I saw your memories when you came in for a background screening, I referenced that to trap you in that illusion with Hypnosis."

"You had this fight planned from the beginning, didn't you?" Drake growled.

"I'm a tactical master, Westbrook. I am capable of planning ten moves ahead of someone."

Drake said nothing as Langdon's words washed over him. He had let his arrogance get the better of him and it was because of that that he would now be killed by the man he was eager to beat. He looked back into Langdon's eyes and saw the cold stare he was giving him.

"You want to know something funny and pathetic?" Langdon asked as he pressed down harder on Drake's chest wound, earning a grunt of discomfort from him.

"What?" Drake replied.

"When you killed that boy and badly hurt those other ones that attacked you and Bagon, you were in the right. That would have counted as self-defense and you probably could have gotten by without punishment."

Drake's breath caught in his throat when he heard that. Back when the act happened, he did think about self-defense, but given the condition he left the boys in, he figured it would not work in his favor and that people would see him as a monster and demand for his execution. That's why he fled from Unova to the United States to escape that possibility.

"No," Drake muttered as Langdon stood up.

"Oh yes," Langdon answered as he aimed the gun at Drake's head.

"Wait!"

"I'll admit you put up a good fight, but that doesn't matter now. I will kill you here as an example to those that think they are better than their superiors."

"I don't want to die!"

Drake's body trembled as fear filled him and he stared down the barrel of the .44 that was aimed at his head. His eyes saw Langdon pull the hammer down and he heard the gun click as the last round was chambered. His throat went dry and he felt his heart in his throat as he waited for Langdon to pull the trigger. He watched as Langdon pulled the trigger down slowly and he braced for death. A loud click met Drake's ears and he flinched as his heart stopped for a moment. A whimper escaped his lips and he started to hyperventilate as the shock settled in. Langdon took his boot off Drake's chest and opened the cylinder to his gun and out fell five shells. It was there Drake realized Langdon removed one of the bullets at some point during their fight because if he didn't, then he would be dead.

"Let that be a lesson to you, boy," Langdon said as he snapped the cylinder shut and tucked the .44 away. "This just goes to show that I could have easily killed you."

Langdon tucked his revolver away and teleported up to the observing room to grab his gear. As he materialized into the room he made his way over to the table by the window. After picking up his duster, his MK23 and his lighter, he gave one last look down in the arena to see Drake still lying on the ground. Out of the corner of his eye he could see Amiko looking down at Drake with her arms crossed and a passive look on her face.

"Have the medics take care of that piece of shit," Langdon whispered to her.

"What about your neck?" Amiko replied as she glanced at him.

"I'll be fine."

Amiko gave a nod and made her way to the lift with a group of medics to get Drake. When Amiko left, Langdon's eyes fell on the other A-Gene users.

"Let that be an example to all of you," Langdon warned. "If any of you try to do what that kid did, I will kill you. Do I make myself clear?"

Langdon received a series of nods and verbal responses in confirmation. With that, he teleported out of the room leaving the other A-Gene users there to talk amongst themselves.

Yuri held Claire in his arms and gently stroked her hair. The two of them finished their little activity a while back and were now enjoying each other's company. The room was musky and clothes were strewn around it. Yuri's hand trailed down to Claire's back and he slowly dragged his fingers down it and garnered a small moan from his lover. Claire looked into Yuri's eyes and shifted under the sheets until she was lying on top of him.

"Yuri, what will you do now?" Claire asked.

"What do you mean?" Yuri replied.

"I mean what do you plan to do once I leave? What will you do?"

Yuri said nothing as he rested his head back on the pillow and stared at the ceiling. He did not want to leave Madison and his business behind, but he now had no choice. It was only a matter of time until the government would send people to take Claire and eliminate him and his men.

"I'm not sure," Yuri replied. "I will probably sell this place and then head to one of the safe houses I have."

"Why can't I come with you?" Claire asked as she rubbed his cheek.

"Because you are in danger and if you come along with me, it puts my men, my brothers at risk."

Claire's hand left Yuri's cheek and rested back on his chest. She had a feeling that Yuri would give her that answer and she could see why he said it. However, she could not help but feel selfish as she wanted to be with Yuri after everything he did for her.

"Where will I go?" Claire asked.

"Like I said, I will always be here for you and you have my number," Yuri replied as he wrapped his arms around her bare back.

"I don't want to be alone, Yuri. I don't have anyone outside of you that I can trust here."

"That's not true."

Claire looked back at Yuri confused with what he said.

"I was talking about David. He is my friend and I know I can trust him. I know he'd be more than willing to let you tag along with him and his friends," Yuri said.

"They don't know anything about me. What's to say they won't let me stay with them?" Claire replied.

"David is not that kind of guy. He has friends that all share his beliefs and I know they will gladly accept you."

"I don't know."

"I'll talk to them tomorrow and pull some strings. You have nothing to worry about."

Claire saw the look of sincerity in Yuri's eyes and a smile spread across her face. She leaned up and held his face with her hands and pressed her lips to his and Yuri returned the kiss with equal passion. They broke for air and Claire rested her head on Yuri's chest as he brought the sheets over them.

"Time of Courage" by my good friend FiammaJoule: This story is becoming one of the new stories that contain people with Pokemon powers/souls. It's extremely interesting and the first chapter alone was enough to get my attention and I'm sure it will be of interest to a lot of you readers as well. The story revolves around a group of people known as S-Types that have the abilities of Pokemon and are being hunted down by the government. Michka Morre is the protagonist and it'll be great to watch her progress and grow to help lead the resistance against the government. (Recently Updated on 6/10/13)

"Elementals" by Morris Archeltum: Elementals... humans that can use the abilities just like a Pokemon. Hunted by the government, they live in hiding. But as the world starts falling apart, they might just be the only ones who can stop it.
