Chapter 40-SOA New By Laws

Goodbyes

Jax gritted his teeth in anger, "You have my attention Galen." His head was swirling with rage. Heat pulsated from his body as he imagined how he was going to kill Galen.

Galen looked over at Marks, "You must be Marks." Marks nodded his head.

"Nothing personal but The Kings likes to do business with their own. I tried to tell this to Jax but he wouldn't listen….so I had to take matters into my own hand."

Marks looked down at Jade who was shaking. Marks looked over at Jax and they both understood that Galen had to die. Nero looked down at Gemma and her face was stone. She showed no emotion. Jax studied Galen's movements looking for an opportunity he could shoot him without hurting Jade. He looked down at Jade who was staring at him intensely as if she was trying to tell him something. He saw her slowly nod her head and she pushed back with all her might against Galen. Jax took the pristine opportunity as Galen lost his balance to shoot him in the shoulder. Galen fell back as he grabbed his shoulder.

Nero shot Dylan right between the eyes as he was distracted.

Jax and Marks were on Galen within seconds.

"You made the mistake coming after my family Galen."

Marks took his right arm and grabbed Galen's neck from behind and pulled him up to a standing position. Marks slowly started choking Galen. Jax took his knife and stabbed Galen in the chest and stomach until his arm was sore and he could feel his fist inside Galen's stomach. Chibs had to pull Jax off of Galen. Marks let go of Galen's body and they both looked down at his dead body.

"Guys?" Tig called. Marks and Jax looked back at Tig who had Jade in his arms. She was unconscious and Gemma noticed fresh blood began to stain the bottom half of her dress.

Jade opened her eyes to bright lights and she started to panic….was she still held captive by Galen? Didn't Jax come to save her? She felt a warm hand grab her hand and she nearly jumped out of her skin.

"It's me baby." Jax voiced soothed.

Jade looked around her surroundings and realized she was in the hospital.

"Oh God….If I wake up in this hospital one more fuckin time!" she hissed. She looked over at Jax and noticed his face was red and puffy from crying.

"Where is Gemma?" she asked as she tried to sit up….she didn't have the strength.

"She is in the next room. She is fine."

"The boys?"

"They are at the house with Neeta."

"Galen?" her voice trailed off as his face flashed in her head.

"Dead."

Jade looked away from Jax.

"Jade I'm-"

Jade head snapped back to look at him, anger darting from her eyes.

"Don't you fuckin say it! Don't say it. No matter how many times you say sorry and you will protect me I always get hurt. Do you have any idea what we went through." Tears flowed down her swollen face.

There was a light knock at the door before Jax could answer. Selena and Michael came into the room. They sighed with relief when they saw her awake. Both her parents had been crying. Jax got up from the chair and stood in the corner as Jade's parents hugged their daughter.

There was another knock at the door and Dr. Carney walked in. Michael had called him to come assist with his daughter and Gemma's care. As Dr. Carney laid out the damage yet again done to Jade's body, she remain numb and expressionless.

"Jade we could not save the baby."

Jade snapped out of her trance and she saw Jax rush up to her side by her mother.

"What?"

"You were pregnant Jade," Dr. Carney looked at her chart. "About six weeks along. You miscarried and we had to do an emergency D&C."

Jade started to gasp for air. She was not aware she was even pregnant.

"The trauma," Dr. Carney cleared his throat. "of the rape caused the miscarriage….I'm sorry Jade."

She lost a baby….she lost her innocent baby.

Jax choked back his tears as he leaned over and rubbed Jade's cheek. She pushed his hand away.

"Get out!" she yelled at him.

"Jade don't…"

"Get the fuck out Jax! Dad…get him out of here!" she shouted.

"Baby please…." Jax moved to grab her arm and Michael pulled him away.

"You better leave son…I'm this close to breaking your face!" Michael pushed Jax in the chest. Jax stumbled back. Selena hugged her daughter as her body started to shake with uncontrollable sobs. Through her tears she saw Jax leave the room. Jade buried her face in her mom's shoulders. How could this have happen? She was so happy just 24 hours ago and now, it was as if her soul had been torn from her.

Opie had walked up to Jax and gave him a hug when he entered the waiting room. Ope was glad his friend was ok. Kim had grabbed Opie before he could follow Jax and the club out the church. He felt a stab of guilt not being there for his brothers but Kim had talked him into staying because someone needed to take charge at the church and that was what he and Kim did. They calmed people down and when he got the call from Jax to meet him at the hospital he handled the situation with the best lie he could come up with at the time to tell the guest there was to be no wedding today.

"How is she?"

Jax shook his head unable to answer.

"Is she alive?" Opie started to panic.

"Yes." Jax whispered.

Marks walked up to Jax and tried his hardest not to go at him. He saw the pain he was in and even though Marks didn't physically show it he was in just as much pain.

"Romero just called…..everything has been taken care of at the warehouse." Marks whispered to Jax.

Jax nodded. He hated to get the Galindo cartel involved but he needed the mess at the warehouse cleaned up without loads of questions. Chibs walked up to Jax and told him Connor was on his way. Jax excused himself to the restroom. He needed to get his game face on to deal with Connor about Galen's death.

Jax looked at himself with disgust in the mirror. What kind of man was he? He could not even protect his family. Jax fist hit the mirror shattering it. He looked down as pieces of glass fell in the sink and on the floor. He knew his relationship with Jade was shattered just like the mirror. By the look of hatred that was in her eyes as she looked at him earlier he knew there was no coming back.

Neeta handed Nathan to Jax as he sat on the couch.

"How is she?" she asked giving Jax Nathan's bottle.

"She's hurt pretty badly…but she will pull through."

Neeta had nodded her head and did not ask any more questions. She could see the pain he was in. Abel crawled up next his dad on the couch and continued playing his Spider-Man game on his mini Ipad.

"I'm sorry." He whispered to the boys. Abel looked up with questioning eyes. Jax leaned over and kissed his oldest son.

"What's wrong daddy?"

Jax couldn't answer Abel. He leaned over and kissed his son again. He just could not tell them that he failed to protect them again.

Jade stayed in the hospital for three days and each day Jax would visit her but she refused to see him. She even did not want to see the boys. He knew she did not want the boys to see her in the shape she was in. He took them anyway just in case she changed her mind. After she would refuse to see him or the kids he would go sit next door with Gemma.

"Roosevelt came back again mom?"

"Yeah..Jade still won't talk to anyone. I told him we did not see any faces because they wore mask but he just won't let up until he talks to Jade."

"I wish she would talk to me." Jax rubbed his fingers through his hair and sighed. He was so tired. He did not get any sleep as every time he closed his eyes his mind would think of all the horror Jade and his mom went through.

"Give her time Jax. We just went to hell and back."

Jax shook his head trying to understand.

"The pain of losing her baby is going to sting for awhile." Tears welled in Gemma's eyes for her unborn grandbaby. She held her two grandbabies tight as they sat in the bed with grandma.

"She hates me mom. I saw it in her eyes."

"Aw….sweetheart…she doesn't hate you. Jade could never hate you. She is just angry right now and she needs somewhere to put that anger….just give her time sweetheart."

Jax hoped his mom was right.

The front door slowly opened and Jax looked up from the kitchen table to find Jade slowly walking in the house with the assistance of her mom and dad. Jax ran to open the door wider for her. Selena gave Jax a sad smile as Jade completely ignored him. Neeta seeing Jade entering the house ran over to her to help her and take over for Michael.

"I got her." Neeta said taking Jade's other arm. Both women walked Jade back to her and Jax bedroom.

Jax and Michael stood in the hallway looking at each other.

"Jade and the boys will stay with us for a few days while she recuperates." Michael told Jax. Michael could see the pain still in Jax eyes and he knew this news will probably break him but he needed to get his daughter and grandsons away from him and The Sons temporally. He knew he could not tell Jade what to do and could not rip his grandchildren from their father but he needed to get Jade and his grandkids away from this environment for now. Jax did not argue with Michael but headed straight back to their bedroom. Jax found Jade and her mom packing her some of her clothes. Neeta had went into the boys room to pack them a bag.

"Jade don't do this….please…don't do this."

Jade looked over at her mom.

"Mom cam you give us a second?"

Selena nodded and left the room.

Jax rushed up to Jade and tried to wrap his arms around her but she quickly pulled away.

"Don't….." she put her hand up in a stop gesture and moved away from him. 'I can't anymore Jax."

Can't what?" he asked wanting to reach out to her. Jade finally looked at Jax. She studied him for a few moments. He was still handsome as ever and her heart still ached for him even though she could not stand the sight of him at the moment.

"Jax do you really have to ask that question…every bad thing that has happen to me has been because of your association with the club. It is obvious you can't protect me and really how could you?"

"Are you leaving me?" he asked in a whisper. Jade closed the gap between them and took her hand to bring his face close to her….she needed Jax to understand what she was about to say.

"Jax I was beaten, tortured and rape because of a fuckin club business deal gone wrong."

Jax winced as if a pulse of electric shocks just went through his body. He just wanted to get the club out of guns to provide a safer life for her and it backfired in his face.

"I watched your mother beaten and raped Jackson….your mom," Her soft voice became hard as she continued to talk. "Your fiancée, the mother of your children, the woman you said you loved with all your heart was raped over and over." Jade felt as if she was speaking about a stranger. She knew she would have to process what had happen to her. She kept shutting it out of her mind.

Jax shook his head in anger…he could not hear this now. It was tearing him apart. Jade took all strength and pushed him away from her.

"We lost a baby!" she yelled at him. "What more of my soul, body and sanity do you want to take from me Jax! I have nothing left. I am broken…you and your club have broken me. I don't have it in me anymore to be your old lady. Enough is enough."

Jax looked at Jade and there was nothing he could say. He was going to fight for her but he could not do it at this moment because he knew he would lose.

"Abel and Nathan….. You are not taking my sons?"

"They will go with me to my parents and we will be back in my old house which is only 15 minutes from here after I am fully healed. I am not taking your boys away from you Jax. They need their father. I just don't want them around the danger that follows you around. What would have happen Jax if they were in the limo with us?" She was right. What if they were with her?

Jade had to turn her back from his piercing blue eyes. Her body could not move as tears began to flow. Jax very slowly walked up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist. Jade fought the instinct to push him away.

"I am so sorry. I had no idea Galen would retaliate the way he did and go after my family,"

Jade grimaced at the word 'sorry'. "Jade I love you and I don't want to lose my family. I will be nothing without you."

"Sometimes love is not enough Jax." Jade pulled out of his embrace. Selena opened the door to ask if she was ready. Jade nodded. She looked over at Jax and her heart ached for him. He looked so lost and hurt.

Jax stood in the hallway numb as everyone moved around him getting everything they needed to pack into the car.

"Abel come give daddy a kiss…..we are going to visit nana and papa for a few days and we'll be back."

Jax picked up Abel and gave him a hug. The tears he was holding back slowly came down when Selena handed Nathan to Jax.

Jax looked up at Jade as the tears flowed.

"Jade please….."

Jade ignored him, gave Neeta a hug, and told her she will be back in a couple of weeks and she will call her when she is back in her house. Selena slowly took Nathan out of Jax embrace. They gathered their belongings and headed out the door. Jax was about to try to reason with Jade again but Neeta grabbed his arm and they stood in the hallway and watch the door shut and finally the car drive off with his family inside. Jax slid down on the floor. Neeta sat on the floor with him and gathered him in her arms.

Neeta felt Jax body shake with sobs.

"Let her go Jackson…." She whispered. "Let them go."
