Chapter 43-New By Laws
Bobby pulled Jax into a hug.
"Thanks for coming by Bobby." Jax took him into the kitchen and pulled out a couple of beers while Bobby sat at the kitchen table. Jax sat across from Bobby, twist off the cap and took a swig of his beer.
"Bobby you know how much I love the club."
"Yes I do….but you want to leave."
Jax nodded. Jax knew Bobby would know where he was coming from and what he needed to do as he loved Jade just as much as he did.
"Yes. I need leave with no recourse. I have to protect my family and I can't do that in Charming."
"Where will you go? What about Gemma?"
"If Gemma loves us she will understand and to be honest I don't know where we will go. Jade has family in North Carolina."
Bobby wrinkled his nose when Jax said North Carolina.
"What the hell you going to do in North Carolina?" Bobby chuckled.
"Who knows…maybe start a garage and work on redneck trucks."
Bobby smiled at the image.
"I want you to take the gavel and the vice presidency to Chibs."
"You don't want Ope as prez?"
Jax shook his head. "No he needs to focus on his family like I am."
"I will talk to the guys. After everything you and your family have been through I don't think it would be a problem."
Jax nodded hoping Bobby was right. They both looked up when they heard the front door open. Jade and the boys walked in looking exhausted. Jax got up to take Nathan from Jade. Jade sat Abel at the table.
"Hey Uncle Bobby!" Bobby got up and gave his niece a tight hug.
"You look beautiful as ever." He told her giving her a kiss on cheek.
"You staying for dinner?" Jade asked as she walked up to Jax and gave him a quick peck on the lips.
"No I better get going. I'll take a rain-check."
Holding Nathan Jax walked Bobby to the door. Bobby kissed Nathan's cheek as he headed out the door.
Jax walked back into the kitchen and watched a few moments as Jade busied herself in the kitchen to prepare dinner.
"Babe I know you guys had a busy day. Why don't you let me cook dinner?"
Jade turned around and looked at Jax as if he was crazy.
"Babe you can't cook." She said with amusement on her face.
"I don't cook because you always cook." He told her putting Nathan in the playpen. Jax took Abel by the hand and took him in the living room so he can play his playstation as they prepared dinner. Walking back into the kitchen, he wrapped his arms around Jade's waist and pulled her from the stove.
"Let me cook." He told her kissing her forehead.
"Ok." She stepped away from the stove.
"Bobby will talk to the guys."
Jade nodded. She knew her uncle wanted to keep her safe and would vote for Jax to leave the club to keep his family safe. Jade caressed Jax arm, leaned over, and kissed his cheek.
"It will all work out honey…it has too."
"I know babe…I know….now go get some rest and let me cook for you."
"Alright."
Jade checked on the boys real quick, seeing they were fine she went to lay down. She was so exhausted. Jax didn't know that she had went to see August while she was out. He would be livid knowing that he was around his sons. But August was constantly calling her and she finally broke down and went to see him. Marks was visibly upset when Jade told him that she and her family were setting things in motion to leave Charming. He just did not understand why she continued to sacrifice so much for Jax. Marks told her he loved her and would always love her and Jade gave Marks a hug before she left. She would always love Marks and she appreciated everything he has done for her but she loved Jax and would always love Jax. As she relayed that info to him she saw his eyes mist up. As she walked out the door, he told her if she ever needed anything he would always be there for her. She was glad they would remain friends. It would hurt Jade if she knew Marks was angry with her. She didn't want to leave him behind in California with bitter, hurt and anger in his heart.
After a quick cat nap dinner was ready. Jax sat a plate of salmon, rice pilaf and mix vegetables in front of her. It looked and smelled delicious. She was surprised and pleased that Jax had already fed the boys. Jade looked into the living room and smiled as she watched Abel start on a new level of his Spiderman game and Nathan sit in his bouncing baby walker walking across the living room. Stabbing her fork into the steaming meat Jade looked up at her husband who had an amused look on his face.
"What?" she asked before taking a bite. My God, this was delicious Jade thought as she swallowed a big helping of salmon.
"Nothing….is it good?"
"It is delicious Jax. I think you need to cook more often."
Jax chuckled at the thought.
"I signed up for self-defense classes and I want you to help me pick out a gun. I want to learn how to shoot. I'm thinking of taking a conceal weapons class also."
Jax frowned a little. "I can teach you self-defense and how to shoot a gun. You don't need to take classes for that."
A smirk played on Jade's lips.
"Babe just because you have no respect for the law does not mean I am the same way. I would feel better if I have a permit for the gun I plan to get."
Jax didn't want to argue with Jade as he knew when she made up her mind about something there was no persuading her. He put his plate in the sink and kissed the top of her head.
"Whatever you say babe."
Jade smiled at Kim as she watch her best friend breast feed baby Michael.
"How are you feeling Jade?" Kim asked with concern.
"I'm fine."
"You still see your therapist?"
Jade nodded. She was thankful for her therapist. She was helping her come to terms with what happen to her and the loss of her baby. There were days she just did not want to get out of bed but she put a brave face on for her family. She did not want Jax to know that when the memories creep in her mind it was more painful than she could bear at times.
"How are things with you and Ope?" Jade asked hoping to change the subject. Kim smiled as she thought of Opie.
"Things are good. My family has warmed up to him a little."
"That's good Kim…..I have to tell you something."
Kim looked at Jade puzzled.
"What's wrong?" she asked lifting Michael to burp.
"Jax and I are moving and I want you to take over the agency."
"What? Where?"
"I'm thinking North Carolina."
"North Carolina? That is way on the east coast Jade!"
"I know….we need to get as far away from Charming as we can Kim."
Kim shook her head in disbelief. She knew Jade needed to get her family out of Charming for their safety but she never imagine it would be so far.
"Has Jax told Opie yet?"
Jade shook her head. "I don't think so."
"Will the club let him go? What about Gemma?"
"I think they will. Uncle Bobby is supposed to speak with them. I don't know what will happen with Gemma. She is always welcome to come."
Kim's eyes sadden as she looked at her friend.
"Jade I am going to miss you. I thought our boys will grow up together."
"I know Kim…We will visit each other. I will give you more details as everything unfolds. I won't leave until everything is in order at the agency."
Kim gave a friend a sad smile.
"I better get going. I don't want to be late for my self-defense class."
Jade got up and kissed Kim on the forehead and kissed Michael and headed to her class.
Jade looked out the peephole and frowned to herself as she wondered who the dirty blonde woman was standing at her door. Jade took a step back and opened the door. The woman looked vaguely familiar.
"Can I help you?"
"Hi. Is Jax home?"
"No he is not…may I help you with something?"
"You must be Jade."
"Yes I am and you are?"
"My name is Wendy Case."
Now Jade remembered where she saw her before. She saw her leaving Gemma's office a while back. She remembered Gemma had said she wanted to see Abel but Jax forbade it and Jade did not pursue the issue anymore. Why was she here now? Jade stepped out on the porch, as she did not know how Jax would feel about her coming into their home. Plus the kids were in the living room.
"You're Abel's mom."
Wendy nodded.
"I'm not here to cause any trouble. I wanted to speak to Jax about seeing Abel."
Jade crossed her arms. Her coming into Abel's life now was not a good time. She was trying to get her family out of this town.
"I will let him know you stopped by. Does he have a way to contact you?"
Wendy nodded. "Yes he has my number."
"I will let him know." Jade told her again.
Jade watched Wendy walk to her car and drive off.
"Shit!" she muttered to herself as she walked back into the house.
