Two chapters in one night! I hope you are all still enjoying this story and sorry if its slow but I intend it to be quite long. Also just a warning this next chapter is very emotional!
Casey fell asleep in the car straight away as they left the beach, exhausted. After dropping Ricky off at her home Brax picked up a pizza and took the boys home. Brax couldn't get Casey to wake up so he ended carrying him into the house. "Heath you grab the pizza and I will carry this one in" Brax said picking up Casey. He frowned as he felt how hot Casey was. Inside Brax lay Casey on the sofa taking off his shoes and socks as well as any extra layers to try and cool him down.
"Right," Brax said sitting at the table opening the pizza box "Lets dig in" Heath nodded sitting down and practically inhaling a piece of pizza. Brax rolled his eyes, laughing, "Today was good, eh?" He said to Heath picking up a slice of pizza. "Yeah it was, like the old days" Heath smiled before frowning and turning to look at Casey, "Do you think hes okay?" Heath asked. Brax shrugged, finishing his mouthful before replying, "I dunno, I hope so, hes probably just tired, over did it or something". Once they had finished the two older boys put the television on. This cause Casey to stir, as he woke up he cried out before bursting into hysterical tears. He felt so sick, but this he was used to this time however he was in the worst pain everywhere, his stomach, chest, head and even his muscles and joints hurt. Brax gathered the small boy in his arms, "Oww… I… hurt.. ahhh" he hiccuped crying even harder. "Where do you hurt Case?" Brax asked seriously.
"Everywhere!" Casey wailed.
"Do you think your going to be sick?" was Brax's next question.
"I don't know" Casey wailed even louder. Brax held him tighter, rubbing his back softly. "Come on Case, shhh, calm down" He soothed, "Youre so brave, just try and calm down" He whispered rocking the small boy. Heath didn't really know what to do so he sat there awkwardly. After a few minutes of listening to Casey's sobs rip through his fragile body Brax looked up at heath. "Mate can you get me a bucket, his medicine bag and a thin blanket of some sort?" Heath nodded, "Yeah sure", he said getting up. He couldn't believe how quickly the day had turned from one of the best days in ages to this.
"Thanks," Brax said as Heath brought back the things he had asked for. "Okay Case, I need you to calm down because I need to put some of the painkillers into your special tube" He said loudly over Casey's sobs, "It will make you feel better" He explained slowly and clearly. "Okay" Casey sniffed. Brax lay him back down softly, lifting up his top to administer the medicine. Casey sniffed and hiccuped trying to calm down, he was still in agony. Heath sighed sitting down with his head in his hands. "I think we should all get an early night" Brax said quietly, feeling sad at how the day had just changed. Maybe it was all a bit too much a day at the beach, he just wanted them all to have a good day out all together. Heath nodded "Yeah im gunna go up to my room" He muttered. "Night Case feel better mate, surfing with you today was awesome" he said with a forced smile.
After ten minutes of so Casey was nodding off on the sofa, "Right kiddo lets get you up to bed" Brax said picking Casey up gently.
Around 11pm Casey woke up again, screaming in agony. Brax jumped up straight away rushing over to comfort his baby brother. "Shhh, come on mate your okay" he whispered and Casey sobbed into his chest. "I'm so tired Brax…. and It hurts so much" He cried out in pain.
"Case you need to tell me where it hurts" Brax said sternly.
"I can't!" Casey screamed out, "Its everywhere" He sobbed. Brax sighed and sat back against the headboard of the bed, his arm around Casey, he softly stroked his arm trying to calm him down. "I'm… really… tired. But. Cant sleep…." He said breathlessly, hiccupping every now and again.
"I know Case, just try. Take some deep breaths and relax" He said. "Stay here I'm gunna get you some more pain medicine and stuff." Brax explained. Casey lay on his side, curling up into a ball. Brax came back up, he placed a bucket by the side of the bed and gently pulled up his top administrating some more pain medication into the tube. After a while Casey again fell asleep.
The evening continued like this.
The next day also followed this pattern. Casey slept for most of the day waking up a few times in pain or to be sick. By late afternoon Brax was really beginning to worry. Casey could barely keep his eyes open and looked ghostly pale. Walking back into the lounge Brax sat down on the same sofa as Heath. "If he gets any worse I'm taking him in to the hospital" He stated. Heath nodded, "Yeah I've never seen him this bad…" he mumbled, "Maybe the beach wasn't a good idea…" He said bowing his head. Brax didn't say anything just looked straight ahead.
Brax was just preparing dinner when he heard Casey wake up again, he heard the young boy quietly sobbing and walk across the hall to the bathroom. Brax sighed and walked up stairs to find him yet again slumped over the toilet seat dry heaving and vomiting. In-between retches Casey was making a horribly screaming wailing noise. Pain ripping through his body. "I.. just want to die" He screamed before throwing up uncontrollably, "Help…" He sobbed, collapsing on to the floor, Brax picked him up, holding him back over the toilet as he continued to be violently ill.
After a few more minutes Casey stopped for a few minutes and leaned backwards into Brax, crying quietly as Brax rocked him. "I … think I am… you know..?" He whispered, as Brax took some toilet paper and wiped Caseys face. "What?" Brax mumbled, glad Casey couldn't see the silent tears rolling down his own cheek. "Dying" Casey said quietly, Brax wasn't even sure he had heard him correctly. Brax swallowed saying nothing just kissing the top of Casey's head.
They sat like that for a while. "Brax, I think its happening again" Casey said ashamed, trying to pull himself up to reach the toilet bowl, Brax helped him and grimaced slightly as Casey again was sick. However, this time it was different. "Heath!" Brax yelled. Heath ran in, stopping as he saw the blood coming out of Casey's nose and the blood floating in the sick filled toilet bowl. "Call an ambulance" Brax said, emotionless, "NOW!".
