Heres the next chapter, I'm not sure about this one, sorry if its not great. I promise it will start to get better and more interesting!
At the hospital it took the doctors nearly half an hour to stabilise Casey. When they had Doctor Walker went into the waiting room to talk to the other brothers. "How is he?" Brax asked standing up. "Its not looking to good I'm afraid, he was in a bad way when he came in." The doctor explained, "He's stable now and we have done some blood tests and we have also arranged for some scans to be carried out tomorrow morning" he told the. Brax nodded, "Righto, can we see him?" Doctor Walker nodded, "Yes just make sure you don't overwhelm him".
Brax and Heath walked into the room Casey was in. He was lying curled up on his side with various drips and an oxygen tube. "Hi Case" Heath said quietly, sitting down on one of the chairs. Casey didn't answer he just looked straight ahead, exhausted. "How you feeling" Brax asked softly as he gently took the boys small cold hands in his two big ones as he sat down. "Not good," Casey croaked slowly closing his eyes. Brax sighed, "Hows the pain? Are the meds they gave you working?"
"Kind of" he croaked again, the pain was a lot more bearable but he was still in a lot of pain.
"Alright, you try and get some sleep please Casey" Brax said getting up and fussing over the pillows, "And we wont be going anywhere okay, so don't you worry" He said softly watching as his youngest brother closed his eyes again before falling into a restless sleep.
"Whats the plan?" Heath asked leaning back in his chair.
"I dunno" Brax muttered, "I honestly dont have a clue Heath" he said resting his head in his hands, "I guess we find out what happens once they get the tests all done" he shrugged.
The two boys sat in silence until they both nodded off.
Early that morning Casey was first to wake up. He was in a lot of pain again but he didn't want to bother his brothers so he cried quietly to himself. Heath woke up soon after, it took him a few minutes to remember where he is but once he rubbed his eyes the room came into focus and he remembered the events of the night before. Instanty he panicked when he saw Casey was crying again, he didn't want to wake Brax as he knew how tired his brother was but equally he was not good with these kind of situations. He walked over to Casey's bed and sat on the edge. "Hay," he whispered softly, "Whats up? urm are you okay?" he asked feeling awkward.
Casey bit his lip, trying to stop himself crying embarrassed. As much as the two younger brothers loved and cared for each other there relationship had always been different to that of Casey and Brax. Heath had always wound Casey up and wasn't known for his sympathetic naturing character. "Yeah" Casey sniffed, Heath frowned trying to decide how best to play this.
"You dont need to lie to me mate" he whispered, "and if you do I'll be forced to deck ya when your better" he said forcing a smile. Casey gave a sad smile, "It hurts Heath, so much" He said quietly, closing his eyes. "Shall I get the doc?" He asked, not sure what to do.
"Theres no point" Casey sighed, "They will only give me more medicine which wont take all the pain away and will make me feel funny" he said kicking his legs under the covers frustrated. "Woah take a chill pill squirt" Heath chuckled slightly, "Stop getting your knickers in a twist" he said with a smile. "Sorry" Casey mumbled, ashamed.
"Dont be silly, I'm just messing with ya" He said, "But I am getting the doctor, I dont care what you say some pain medication will make you feel a bit better I'm sure". Once the doctor gave Casey some more pain management fluids he left the two brothers alone again. "You do know even if the pain does go I am likely to spew," Casey grumbled, "Its just makes me feel ill and all funny, all this medicine does" He complained, a tear rolling down his cheek. Heath rubbed the back of his neck feeling awkward again, "Yeah, I guess its a lot of crap there pumping in to you" He eventually said, "Hay, if you are just make sure its over there and not on me though yeah?" Heath joked after a short pause.
The two boys sat in a comfortable silence only talking every now and again. It was only when Casey began vomiting again that Brax woke up. Once he had stopped being sick and Brax had cleaned him up Brax told them off for not waking him sooner. "Chill Brax, we were fine!" Heath said rolling his eyes. "Still, you should have woken me!" Brax mumbled, "Right, I am going to go and find the doctor to find out whats happening."
Later on that morning Casey was taken to have scans to see why he had deteriorated so rapidly.
"Right," Doctor Walker began looking over his notes, "With any luck we will get these results back within the next couple of days. However, for now we will most definitely be keeping Casey in here. We will not be doing his next round of chemo for at least a week now though as he is far to weak and his blood count too low" Brax nodded taking it all in, he asked a few questions about what to expect but didn't say too much other then that. Doctor Walker began to turn away outside of the room before back tracking, "Also, I hate to bring this up again but could you come to my office quickly… to discuss medically fees" He said.
Heath kicked a chair, "You have to be kidding us! Are you really bringing that up as a time like this!" He shouted making Casey flinch, Brax sprang into action taking his middle brothers face in his hands and looking him in the eye, "You need to calm it. He's right we do need to discuss it. Now stay here and chill." He said pushing Heath down into a chair before following the doctor out of the room.
