*barely awake*

"A devil fruit user?!"

In a run-down bar on the island of Hesperos, twenty-seven people had been drinking. Now...Twenty-seven people were staring at the young man, spoons half-way to their mouths and their soup growing cold.

"Y-you're kidding...right?"

The skinny, blue-haired man sat down nonchalantly on the bar-stool, hands folded, apparently unfazed by the reactions of the others. He was tall, maybe seventeen years old, with long blue hair tied in a small ponytail down his back. He seemed young looking with freckles spotting his face and large, narrow green eyes that matched his obviously Alabastian clothing. No one seemed to believe that this boy was a devil fruit user, as devil fruit users were considered demons by the World Government, thus punishable by death.

"We don't serve your kind here, devil-spawn..." forced out the trembling bartender. The boy just stared expressionless at him.

"Fine with me..." Was all he said, but he still sat there with his hands folded. The bartender seemed to be getting braver.

"I mean it, smart-ass! If you don't get out, I'll call the marines on ya!"

The boy blinked, then muttered something under his breath. Suddenly, a miniature sand-storm appeared on the table, violently knocking all the bottles to the ground with a crash. After about ten seconds, it disappeared, everyone gawking at him.

"T-the Suna Suna no Mi?!" They then realized who they were looking at. The boy held up a victory sign.

"N-Nefartari Genghis?! The boy who defeated the great Crocodile?!"

Scout was sleeping on her tiny boat when it finally reached shore. The jolt of the boat hitting the beach jolted her awake.

"GAH!" She flailed around, only to realize it was nothing. She coughed nervously and looked around the new island.

"Awesome! This island actually kinda looks nice!" It did, indeed, look much nicer than the other demolished islands she had been to recently. The grass was a nice shade of green, and the trees didn't look burnt and bare. She started laughing.

"Meeheeheehee! I can't wait to see what people are here!"

She hadn't really walked long before she saw the bar. It was the most well-kept bar Scout had ever seen, which wasn't really saying much.

"There's BOUND to be some cool people here!"

Everyone was so busy staring at Genghis, that nobody except him even noticed the door open. Scout strided happily in, plopping right beside the Devil Fruit user.

"Hello there, blue-haired-guy!" Genghis slowly looked at Scout, who was grinning hugely. Something about her intrigued him, but he just looked away. Scout was annoyed by his silence so she started poking him.

"Oi...oi...oi...oi...oi..." Genghis closed his eyes and turned toward her.

"What?"

"Why is your hair blue?"

Genghis sighed and propped his arm on the table.

"Why is your hair black?"

They both exchanged dagger-stares until one of the customers spoke out.

"Oi! Little girl! Don't talk to him! He's-"

Scout glanced at the customer in annoyance He shrinked and went back to sipping his sake quietly.

"Who are you, Blue-Hair?"

"Nefartari Genghis, you?"

"Dahl D. Scout!"

Genghis seemed impressed by this.

"D, huh? Like the Pirate Kings?" He still wore the expressionless mask. "I don't care for pirates. They're all pretty much gone now..."

Scout smiled.

"I don't want to be a pirate! What gave you that idea?!"

Genghis raised his eyebrows.

"Then...what do you want to do? Scout?"

Scout stood on the table, surprising pretty much everyone there.

"I wanna become a revolutionary! I want to meet her...my hero...Nico Robin! Once I do, I'm going to eliminate the marines, and bring peace back to the world!"

Genghis was moved by her speech, but still kept his neutrality.

"You're just a kid. What makes you think you can defeat every marine in existence?"

"You defeated the legendary Sir Crocodile at age fourteen...look who's talking!"

Genghis displayed the first ounce of emotion since he came here, but it only lasted a split second.

"I killed him because of what he did to my mother all those years ago..." He explained. "How he caused my mom to sacrifice everything in order to save her country from that...despicable sandworm..."

Scout clasped her hand over his shoulder.

"How would you like to venture with me? You'd make an awesome partner!"

Genghis stared at the young girls happy-go-lucky expression. It had been months, no, YEARS since he had ever met someone so positive in this age of poverty. Still, Genghis had left Alabasta for a reason. He shook his head.

"Sorry, I have a duty to fulfill..."

Scout cocked her head.

"Alright then...maybe this will change your mind!"

Scout pulled out the golden pistol out of her orange satchel. Genghis's ever-narrowed eyes widened.

"I-is that...?"

Scout nodded, then placed it back into the satchel.

"An old friend of mine gave it to me, a long time ago. It's proven me well so far!" She grinned happily. Genghis was stunned. Why does a KID have that pistol? Scout banged on the table suddenly.

"I want to become a revolutionary so I can ELIMINATE all the scumbags like Crocodile, or Fleet Admiral Akianu." She paused.

`"I've met good pirates. I've met good marines. I've met horrible pirates and evil marines. All this world needs to escape this terrible age is a steady form of what's right and what's wrong, and the only way to do that is to start anew. The only way to erase ink off a page is to bring out a new sheet, and start over."

Scout stared right at Genghis's attentive eyes.

"I don't want to become another conquering king..." She grinned hugely.

"I want to be free!"

Silence. Genghis was amazed by this girl. So THIS is what a D was. Genghis himself had always looked up to the Second Pirate King, having been told stories of how he stopped the great Alabastian Civil War by her mother, who still kept an X on her left arm.

"He was...the most strange and interesting man I had ever met." She told him. "I was his friend, and that is all he needed to risk his life for me."

"The power-hungry tyrant broke through the solid bedrock, and soured into the sky. Then, I finally realized what this meant. It was over. The cause of a three year long struggle had been defeated, by none other than a complete stranger." -The True History of Alabasta: Volume 8

Genghis had read this sentence thousands of times. He vowed to become "That stranger" who would do something like that. After hearing Scout's speech, he realized that his childhood promise could be fulfilled. If what Scout said was true, he would be like his hero, and save those who needed saving just because they needed to be saved. A shout from another customer jolted him out off his thoughts.

"The Revolutionaries eh? They're no better than well-dressed pirates! The marines are the TRUE forms of justice!"

Shouts of approvement sounded from all the customers in the bar. Both Genghis and Scout blocked them out completely.

"So...what'dya say, Genghis?"

"Sure, I'll come with you..."

"Oi oi, they aren't listening..."

Scout stuck out her hand, and Genghis clasped it. They shook hands.

"Alright then, let's head out."

"Aye!"

Scout and Genghis both left the bar swiftly, leaving the customers thinking.

"Um, maybe we should have stopped them?"

"Whatever, those kids won't ever make it big."

"Yeah, they're just a bunch of hopeless dreamers."

…..Yeah...right...
