As I don't think tonight I'll be able to upload any chapter, I leave it now. One question. Do you like this kind of non-connected chapters or would you prefer to have a background story (maybe a crime or something) that would keep the chapters linked together? Thanks for following!

"Ok, Castle. Let's do this."

Kate rubbed her hands with anticipation and looked at him. His frowning forehead showed that he found it a difficult decision. For god's shake. Green, yellow or soft orange. It wasn't that complicated. She had let him choose the color as she was the one who didn't want to know the gender, but now she was starting to regret it. She had taken the day off to decorate the nursery, but it was nearly time for lunch and they hadn't even started.

"Don't you give me that look, Katherine Beckett. It's a big decision."

"Castle the baby won't care at all about the color of his bedroom until he or she is at least six. Choose it. Please."

"Some help would be appreciated..."

"You want me to choose?"

"Not "choose, choose". Maybe tell me what you think."

"I like green."

"I know. Me too. But I keep imagining it all in soft yellow. Don't ask me why. It's just my imagination."

"Your imagination was what got us to this point, so trust it. I say yellow it is."

"Are you just trying to finish with this quickly?"

"No." He arched his eyebrow at her. "Maybe? Okay, yes. I don't see why is it so important."

"It's the fist time, you know? The first time I do all of this pre-birth thing. Meredith was the one making every small decision until Alexis was born. She hired an interior designer to put together her cute bedroom, she bought her clothes without consulting me and went shopping for baby stuff without me. This is the first time I get to have a voice in something baby related before we actually have a baby. So it is important for me."

He looked ashamed, trying to avoid her sight, pretending he was looking at the color album they had got from the hardware store. She felt the need to hug him. So she did. Hug him hard, until she felt how he relaxed by her embrace.

"You are right. I'm sorry. Do you want to take a look to the color portfolio once again?" she asked without moving out of his arms.

"Guess so. You don't mind?"

She shook her head and kissed his chest.

"Best. Wife. Ever" He emphasized each word by kissing her hair.

"Listen. I'm going to get a snack or something 'kay? Why don't we move this whole "choose the right color thing" to the living room. There is nowhere to sit here and I'm kind of tired."

"Sure. Feed our baby, I'll take all of this."

In the end it was her who didn't want to make the wrong choice. They took their time, lying on the sofa, their limbs tangled. She could imagine a cutter nursery with every color they considered. Pink and blue were too obvious for them. They were looking for something brighter and unexpected but at the mean time acceptable for a baby.

"What do you think about olive green?" he asked, pointing at the color.

"Too pale. What about peach puff?"

"Mmm... I don't know. Too girly maybe?"

"Right. Neutral colors. I like this one. And the name is cute."

"Buttermilk. I like that one too."

"Do you think...?"

"That we could've found our baby's room color?" he completed. They kissed, excited for no reason. "I'll paint this afternoon and we could buy everything during the weekend."

"Sounds like a plan. Now, do you think you could give me something to eat? I'm starving".

"You just ate a full jar of cookies"

"It's your baby. You got me pregnant, so now you have to feed me."

"Your wish is my command"

He left her alone still lying on the sofa so she hugged her belly. Her baby kicked as if he knew they were by themselves. She had noticed that he kicked her more when she wasn't with anyone else. Their little sweet connection. She placed her hand over her belly button and felt another kick. She smiled with love. Her baby was calling her attention.

"You like that, don't you? Buttermilk. That's what daddy chose for you"
