Hey there! I'm not sure if I am going to be able to upload a chapter in a few days, so I decided to post the second part of the chapter for you! Enjoy! Hope you like it
If he had to be any other second inside that plane he was going to kill someone. People in front of him taking slow steps to get out of the plane were driving him crazy. He needed to get out. At that moment. And then ran to the exit, grab a cab and drive to that hospital. He had been 5 hours flying and two waiting at the airport for his plane. He didn't know anything about his wife or his baby. He wanted to call Alexis to ask for news, but there was still no connection inside the plane.
At last, he was able to get out. He ran, nearly making another man to fall down. He didn't stop to apologize, so not like him. But his mind was elsewhere. When he got to the exit, he nearly jumped inside of a taxi, without caring if there was anyone waiting to use it. He gave the hospital's direction to the driver and finally was able to breath.
"Hey, Alexis, is me. I've just landed. Call me whenever you receive this message. I need to know how Kate is. Has everything gone well? I'm on my way, ok?" he hung up and scrub his face in frustration.
"Is everything ok?" the driver asked.
"Not really. Could we get there quicker, please?"
"I'll do my best".
Twenty minutes later he was asking at the hospitals reception for his wife.
"Katherine Beckett. She was brought here and she has been practiced a C-section."
"Richard!" he turned to see his mother walking towards him. A smile on her face. That had to be good, right?
"Mother. How is she? Where is she?"
"She is fine. Still unconscious because of the anesthetic. But your Katherine has always been a brave woman."
"Thank god" He rested himself on the wall and slid until he was sitting on the floor, hand in front of his face.
"Richard! Are you ok?"
"Yes. Yes, mother I'm good. Just relieved. How's the baby?"
"Oh, darling, he is wonderful. Chubby and cute. You are going to fall in love with him. Just a little Castle"
"He? We had a boy?"
"Yes, son. A baby boy. He is waiting for you in maternity. I think Alexis is with him now. Don't you want to go there until you can see Katherine?"
"I would love to". he stood up. Happy for the first time after long and exhausting hours, and followed her mother to meet his boy.
Kate looked disoriented when she woke up. And tired. Like she hadn't been sleeping for the last six hours. She tried to smile when she saw Castle sitting just beside her, but ended with something more like a funny face.
"Hey, gorgeous. I heard you did pretty good"
"You are here." she murmured
"Of course I am. I've been here for... "he took a look at his watch "...nearly two hours."
"The baby. How's the baby?"
"He is amazing. You have to see him, Kate. Beautiful and cute and funny. He is funny! Just like I am. I'm sure that he is going to be smart and brave and a badass as you are. But right now he makes me laugh with his funny noises and his cute faces."
"Noah. He's a boy, then?"
"Yeah. A little boy, Mommy. You gave our family a healthy little boy".
"Can I see him? Is he ok? He doesn't have any problem right? I know I could have been more careful, but I didn't know something like that could happen. I mean. I knew it happened. I just wasn't expecting it to happen to us."
"Hey, Beckett. Not your fault. We couldn't have even guessed that would happen. You were really brave. I'm sorry for not being here. I'm so sorry." he joined their foreheads and sighed in relieve for the second time that day.
She was ok. She was in his arms and healthy and happy. She was ok, thank god. He didn't know what he would have done if... Better not to think about that. She was fine and they had a baby.
"Do you want me to ask a nurse to bring Noah here?"
"Could you?"
"Of course. Don't move. I'll be right back".
She closed her eyes. She was really tired. Exhausted described it better. The anesthetic was leaving her body and she was starting to feel the effects of the surgery. She was in pain. Not an extreme one, but pain anyway. Obviously she wasn´t going to say anything to Castle. He would freak out and ask for more painkillers to the nurse. Then she would be back to sleep and wouldn't be able to hold her baby.
Her husband returned with a little baby wrapped up in a blue blanket. The nurse behind him, pushing a little crib seem to be annoyed by the fact that Castle was carrying the baby. Who cared? There he was. Noah. Their baby boy. Se extended her arms to take him and the pulling of the stitches made her wince. Castle must had seen it because he gave her a look full of concern.
"You OK?"
"Fine. Come here. Let me see my baby".
Castle sat beside her, his body warming up all of her pain. It felt really good. She sat up and rested her head on his shoulder so that she could look at the baby. He was precious. What else would a mother think from her baby? But Kate had never been a baby person and she always knew that she was going to be true to herself. If her baby wasn't cute, she would accept that. She wouldn't try to fool herself.
But he was really one of the most beautiful babies she had ever seen. Really chubby. Wow. And blue eyes. Just like Castle.
"He has blue eyes" she said as if he hadn't seen them already.
"That might change you know? It's something about the melamine that I don't really understand."
"I don't care. Right now he has your eyes"
"He looks more like you. When he gets older he is going to be a little Beckett in blue eyes."
She smiled and let her imagination flow. She saw a little boy running towards the door when she got back home, hugging her legs and not letting go. It was going to be nice to be a mother.
"Do you want to hold him?" he asked already giving her the baby.
"Hey Noah," she softly said when she had him in her arms "Hey, baby boy. You are beautiful, aren't you? Great genes from your ruggedly handsome dad" he huffed but Kate could see that he was proud. "I love you, sweet pea. Very much."
"And I love you, Kate"
He kissed her without any rush. Savoring the moment. Because he could do it. He had an amazing woman by his side and a little boy that completed his family. He had a daughter waiting outside to be part of the celebration and a mother that would be around for a long time. He had it everything. Couldn't think of anything he wanted at that exact moment. So he just smiled and kissed her again.
