Dipper entered the room. He saw Pacifica awake, but she was hooked up to several machines, and her arm was in a cast.

"Pacifica...I'm so sorry." Dipper said.

Pacifica smiled. "My family has done some horrible things over they years. It's about time one of us did something good."

"But this is too much. Promise me, from now on, you will always let me protect you." Dipper said.

"Okay." Pacifica said, smiling.

"How do you feel?" Dipper asked.

"Considering how recently I was shot, pretty good actually. They said I'll be able to keep my arm, but I'll have to go through some physical therapy. Oh, and I'll have this cast on for a while." Pacifica said.

"Well, I am just so glad you are okay. I don't know what I would've done with myself if something worse had happened." Dipper said.

"So, any update on who that guy was?" Pacifica asked.

"No. They haven't identified the body yet." Dipper replied.

"I can't imagine who that was. Why would anyone want to hurt us?" Pacifica said.

"I don't know. But I'm going to make sure nobody ever does it again." Dipper said. He walked over to Pacifica, and held her non-casted hand. The two smiled at each other, and spent the next few hours chatting, or simply being silent together. Eventually, Mabel arrived at the hospital.

"Oh my god guys! Are you alright?" Mabel said when she entered the room.

"Yeah." Pacifica said.

"I've been so worried. I can't believe someone was after you!" Mabel said.

"Yeah. It's kind of disturbing." Dipper said.

"Wow. If someone had told me ten years ago that Mabel Pines would come to the hospital for me..." Pacifica said.

"Well, I wouldn't have believed that I would have come to the hospital for you, either." Mabel laughed.

"Well, thanks for coming, anyway. I appreciate it." Pacifica said.

A policeman entered the room. "Okay, we've identified the body. He was Xavier Ryan. He was 39 years old, and he lived in Gravity Falls." the policeman said.

"Gravity Falls?" Dipper said.

"Yeah, that's odd." Pacifica replied.

"I wonder why someone from there was after us. I haven't been there since forever, except, well, for the funeral." Dipper said.

"Yeah. And I wonder who his boss was? Maybe he was working for Gideon?" Pacifica speculated.

"We have a few agents on the case. We're trying to trace his connections, but his records are difficult to find." the officer said.

"Well, thanks for your service." Dipper said.

The policeman tipped his hat, and left the room.

"God, someone from Gravity Falls is after us? This is getting weirder." Pacifica said.

"Don't worry about that right now. Just relax." Dipper said, patting her head.

Soos arrived at the door, accompanied by his wife Melody

"Dudes! You're alive!" Soos said.

"Hey, Soos! Gee, it's been so long." Dipper said.

Everyone exchanged hellos, and Soos and Melody were filled in on the situation.

The group spent some time just chatting, playing cards, and recalling old times. Eventually, a man barged through the door.

"Pacifica, you're alright!" Mr. Northwest said. "All right, can the rest of you get out? I want a moment alone with my daughter."

"Hello, sir. Yes, we can leave." Dipper said. He led the rest of the group out of the door, leaving only Pacifica and her father in the room.

"Pacifica! Why did somebody shoot you?" Mr. Northwest said.

"I don't know! This guy was just following us, and he took out a gun and shot." Pacifica said.

"At who?" Mr. Northwest asked.

"At us!" Pacifica said.

"Who specifically?" Mr. Northwest said.

"At..Dipper. But I jumped in front of him." Pacifica said.

"And why did you do that?" Mr. Northwest asked.

"Because I love him! Wouldn't you have done the same thing for Mom?" Pacifica asked.

"Look, I told you I was okay with you dating him. But if he's attracting hoodlums like this, I just don't feel that you're safe. And my number one concern is you safety." Mr. Northwest said.

"What? That guy wasn't a 'hoodlum'. He said he was working for some boss, like he was from the mafia or something. Besides, nothing is going to stop me from dating Dipper. Even whoever erased my memories of him." Pacifica said.

Mr. Northwest sighed. "It seems so. What do you see in him, anyway?"

"He's smart, he's brave, he's cute, he's protective, he's loving, he makes me happy! What more would I want?" Pacifica said.

"Status? Money?" Mr. Northwest suggested.

"You know what, Dad? I thought you had changed. I thought you had accepted Dipper. But obviously you are your greedy, selfish old self. If you can't accept that I love him, you should just leave right now." Pacifica said angrily.

"Oh, Pacifica. I'm sorry. You're right." Mr. Northwest said.

Pacifica smiled. "Thank you."

Mr. Northwest got up to leave, when Pacifica asked him a question.

"Hey, you don't happen to know a Xavier Ryan? He was from Gravity Falls, and he was the person who shot me." Pacifica said.

"Xavier Ryan? No, doesn't ring a bell." Mr. Northwest said.

Suddenly, two policemen opened the doors.

"Are you Preston Northwest?" One of them asked.

"Yes." he replied.

The policeman took out handcuffs. "Put your hands up. You're under arrest."
