The courtroom had descended into virtual anarchy. Laughton and Hampton were shouting at each other, debating topics that weren't even relevant to the case.
"Han shot first, the dress is blue and black, and they were on a break!" Laughton yelled.
"Says the man who pronounces 'GIF' with a 'j' sound." Hampton replied.
Suddenly, the doors opened, and Dipper entered, dragging the memory machine with him.
"Stop everything!" Dipper yelled.
"Dipper! Did you find evidence proving my innocence?" Mr. Northwest said.
"No. I found something though." Dipper said.
Mr. Northwest, noticing the machine, became horrified.
"This man is bringing a bomb in here!" Mr. Nothwest yelled.
"It's not a bomb, it's evidence! Let me explain." Dipper said.
"Objection!" Laughton yelled.
"Denied. Present your findings, sir." The judge said to Dipper.
Dipper got up in front of the court. "Before I show you what I found, I'd like to tell you something. I love my girlfriend very much, but before this incident, my girlfriend and I, well, we lost our memories of each other. Somebody out there wanted to come between our love. And we never discovered who did it. Until now. In the Northwest Manor, I found a machine that removes people's memories and puts them in tubes." Dipper said.
"Objection! This concept is ridiculous!" Laughton yelled.
"Let him finish." the judge snapped.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, my lost memories." Dipper said.
He played both memories of him getting his mind wiped. He looked at Pacifica, who was looking at her father, full of hatred.
"And this one, too! Mr. Northwest erased Bud Gleeful's mind to frame him." Dipper said. He played the Bud Gleeful memory.
"This is ridiculous! You actually believe that Mr. Northwest has the capability to erase people's minds?" Laughton yelled. "Just think about how ridiculous that is!"
"I call Mr. Northwest to the stand!" Hampton said.
Mr. Northwest rose.
"Did you, Mr. Northwest, at any point, erase the minds of Dipper Pines, Pacifica Northwest, or Bud Gleeful?" Hampton asked.
"No." Mr. Northwest replied.
"Then, who, exactly, do you believe erased their minds?" Hampton asked.
"Nobody erased anybody's mind." Mr. Northwest said.
"Then how do you explain these memories?" Hampton questioned.
"They are fabricated. I never did anything that they contained." Mr. Northwest replied, annoyed.
"Thank you." Hampton said
"I now call Dipper Pines back to the stand." Laughton said.
"Mr. Pines, do you have any actual reason to believe that your memories ever were erased?" Laughton said.
"Why yes, I do. One day, I woke up, with no memory of Pacifica Northwest. Then, I got a picture in the mail of us together. I talked to my sister, who informed me that she remembers us having a relationship beforehand." Dipper said.
Laughton frowned. "And is this 'Mabel' here?"
"No." Dipper said.
"Then we can't hold this to high credibility." Laughton said.
"Wait! I have something to say!" Soos said from the back of the room. Dipper hadn't even noticed he was there.
"What?" Laughton said.
"I also remember their relationship. They had been going out for a while, and were as happy as could be. Then, they suddenly forgot each other." Soos said.
"See? It all adds up! Mr. Northwest didn't want his daughter to be with Dipper Pines. So he erased their memories. Then, they met each other again, so he decided to hire someone to kill Dipper. That was Xavier Ryan, husband of Jane." Hampton said.
"All adds up? You call people claiming their minds were erased as all adding up? And why would Mr. Northwest hire someone to kill his own daughter?" Laughton said.
Pacifica rose. "I have something to say."
"Go ahead." Hampton replied.
"The shooter wasn't aiming for me, he was aiming for Dipper. But I jumped in front of him because I love him. And as his daughter, I can assure you that killing someone who he didn't like is exactly the kind of thing my father would do." Pacifica said.
The entire courtroom gasped.
"Pacifica, dear! You know that isn't true!" Mr. Northwest said.
"Oh, yeah? All you ever were was a horrible father! You never once thought about me! All you ever thought about was yourself. You never considered, even for a moment, the fact that I loved Dipper. All you thought about was how my dating him was going to affect your family image. You selfish piece of shit, you never thought twice about killing someone who was in your way. You coerced the good man of Xavier Ryan into doing a horrible deed. You degraded a man who loved his family, and you've left Jane without a husband, and her children without a father. You took from me the best personal relationship I ever had. You stole from me the memories of the only man I loved. And I don't just mean romantically. I mean, he's the only person who's truly cared for me. I never had a family. All I had was you. I know that you did this, I always knew. Even Dipper, the man who you wanted to kill, actually gave you the benefit of the doubt. But growing up with you, I always knew." Pacifica said, with tears in her eyes.
Mr. Northwest remained silent, blankly staring into space.
"Thank you, madam." the judge said.
After Pacifica's speech, Laughton and Hampton each made their closing remarks, and the court was adjourned. Everyone took a break, and waited for the jury to reach a verdict.
Dipper comforted Pacifica, who was upset from her outburst at the court.
"Look, if this jury find him guilty, which they should, we can get back to normal life. We can get our memories back. We can feel safe again." Dipper said, patting Pacifica's hair.
After an hour, the court was called back.
"The jury has reached a verdict." the judge said.
"The jury has found that, in the action of bribing Mr. Xavier Ryan to carry out a shooting, Mr. Northwest has been found..." the judge paused.
"Guilty."
