The courtroom erupted in a mixture of applause and yelling.
"Woo-hoo!" yelled Hampton.
Jane Ryan let out a sigh of relief.
Dipper turned to Pacifica. "It's all over. We've solved the case We can get our memories back. We can be together."
Pacifica smiled.
"This is ridiculous!" Laughton yelled, slamming his hand down.
Mr. Northwest just hung his head as he was handcuffed and taken away.
As Dipper and Pacifica watched him drive away, Dipper turned to Pacifica.
"Now all there is to do is restore our memories." Dipper said.
Dipper led Pacifica to the memory machine, and he reinstated their memories just like he had with McGucket all those years ago.
"Now our love story is complete." Dipper said when the process was finished, kissing Pacifica.
"Thanks, Dip." Pacifica said.
"Now it's time to go home." Dipper said.
After saying good-bye to Soos, and thanking Hampton, Dipper and Pacifica jumped on the first train to Seattle. When they arrived at the station, they realized it was time to part ways.
"Well, I guess I'll see you tomorrow." Dipper said.
"Yeah." Pacifica said sadly.
"Unless..do you want to come to my place?" Dipper said.
"Sure." Pacifica replied.
"No, I mean...permanently. After we got our memories back, I realized we have been in a relationship for a long time now. Every night I'm not with you, I miss you. And I think we should...live together." Dipper said.
"I don't know.." Pacifica said.
"Oh. I'm sorry." Dipper said sadly.
"I'm just kidding, dummy. Of course I'll live with you!" Pacifica replied, leaning in to give Dipper a kiss.
Dipper smiled. "Phew, you scared me."
They walked home, ready to begin the next chapter of their relationship.
Over the course of the next few weeks, Pacifica, with Dipper's help, moved in to Dipper's apartment. Eventually, they got settled in, and got used to the routine of waking up next to each other, eating every meal together, and they were as happy as could be.
Until one fateful phone call.
Dipper and Pacifica were sitting together on the couch, watching Star Wars Episode VIII, when the phone rang. Dipper got up and got it.
"Hello?" Dipper answered.
"Yes, is this Dipper Pines?" a voice asked.
"Yeah, who is this?" Dipper asked.
"This is Officer Fawkes, leader of the Gravity Falls police force. There's been a...jailbreak." the officer said.
"What?!" Dipper said.
"Yeah. We've interrogated a prison guard. He admitted that he had been bribed to let Preston Northwest escape. All it took was a bit of tickling." Fawkes said.
"Wait, what?! Northwest has escaped?" Dipper said angrily.
"Yeah." Fawkes replied.
"Do you have any leads?" Dipper asked.
"Sort of. His license plate was spotted in Nevada yesterday." Fawkes said.
"Okay...I hope he will be caught." Dipper said.
"Yeah. But the reason we're calling you is we think you could help. We want you to be one of our investigators." Fawkes said.
"What? Me?" Dipper asked.
"Sure. You solved all those mysteries when you were young, and you helped in that court big time. We'll pay you, too." Fawkes said.
"Okay. When?" Dipper asked.
"As soon as you can get here." Fawkes said.
"Thank you. I'll be there soon." Dipper said.
He hung up the phone.
"What was that?" Pacifica asked.
"That was a policeman from Gravity Falls. Apparently, your father escaped from prison." Dipper said.
"Oh my god! How?" Pacifica said.
"Bribery." Dipper said.
"Ugh." Pacifica said.
"Anyway, they called to offer me a...job as an investigator on the case." Dipper said.
"What? What did you tell them?" Pacifica asked.
"I accepted." Dipper said.
"Why? I thought we were done with all this chaos!" Pacifica said.
"But, this is the first job offer I've gotten outside of that stupid bartender job. This is my chance to do something good." Dipper said.
"But you already did your part! Just let them take care of it, and stay here." Pacifica said.
"I'm sorry, but I really feel like I need to go. It's calling out to me." Dipper said.
"Are you really going to leave me?" Pacifica asked.
"I promise I will be back in a week. No longer." Dipper said.
"You'd better be." Pacifica said.
Dipper quickly packed, grabbed a quick snack, kissed Pacifica good-bye, and headed to the train station. Dipper was perturbed by Pacifica's reluctance, but he really wanted to help on the investigation to catch the heinous criminal that was on the loose.
