After a train ride and a taxi ride, Dipper arrived at the police station in Gravity Falls.
"Welcome. I am Officer Albertson." an elderly police officer said.
"Hello. Thank you for this opportunity." Dipper said.
"Yes, thank you for coming. Please go in to that room for briefing." Albertson said, pointing to a door.
Dipper thanked him, and proceeded to the door. In the room he saw four police officers, and two men in suits.
"Welcome, Dipper Pines. The last man of our team has arrived." one of the police officers said.
"Hello." Dipper said.
"Now that we're all here, I'd like to explain the mission. We think we've narrowed down Northwest's location to somewhere in a hundered-mile radius in the desert of Nevada. There are a few towns here and there, so we'll have to visit them." One of the suited men said.
The other suited man's phone rang, and he left the room to take the call.
"We, along with the Nevadan police are going to find this man." A Police officer said.
The suited man returned to the room. "Change of plans. Somehow, that bastard got on a plane in Las Vegas. He was posing as someone else."
"Where is he now?" Dipper asked.
"We think he's in St. Louis." the man replied.
One of the police officers slammed his fist down on the desk.
"St. Louis?! How did this happen?" he said furiously.
"We're not sure. All we know is, the Missouri police have been notified and are working on the case now." the suited man replied.
"We've got to send out a team to help them. We have information about Northwest that they don't." one of the police officers said. "Frasier, Thompson, Pines. Your skills will be vital to catching him. We're sending you to St. Louis." the police officer said.
One of the suited men, who seemed to be Frasier, nodded.
"Okay." one of the policemen replied, a man Dipper only know realiZed was his old friend Thompson.
"Pines? Can you do it?" the police officer asked.
"Yeah. I've just got to make one call." Dipper said.
Dipper stepped outside and called Pacifica.
"Hey, listen, Pacifica. He's escaped to St. Louis, and they're asking me to travel there to help with the investigation. It might be longer than I promised, I'm sorry." Dipper said.
"Really? Come on, Dipper! I can't believe this. Are we ever going to just have some time alone?" Pacifica said.
"I'm sorry, but I have to do this." Dipper replied.
"Good luck." Pacifica said angrily.
Dipper heard a beeping on the other side. Pacifica had hung up. Dipper was upset, but he heard the policeman calling him. "Sir, the plane to St. Louis leaves in an hour."
"Okay." Dipper said. He put his phone away, and prepared for the flight.
Frasier, Thompson, and Dipper were on the plane to St. Louis, and Fraiser, the head of intelligence, whispered some information to Dipper alone the way.
"Okay, we know the plane took off at about 8:00 AM, and landed at 10:00 AM. We alerted all of the nearby airports and all of the St. Louis security of his identity. We don't think he has left the area." Fraiser said.
"Wait. St. Louis? I think I know where he might be." Dipper said.
"Really?" Frasier asked.
"Yeah. A long time ago, I was at this party, and a bunch of millionaires came to his house. I think I remember one of them being from St. Louis." Dipper said.
"What was his name?" Fraiser asked.
"Franz Krakauer." Dipper replied.
Fraiser searched for Franz Krakauer on his tablet.
"Is this him?" Frasier asked, showing a photo of a man.
"Yeah." Dipper replied.
"Okay. Well, I have his address. That'll be the first place we check out when we get there. There's a chance he's harboring him." Frasier replied.
The three agents arrived in St. Louis, and went to the police station. They described their suspicion of Krakauer to the St. Louis police, who understood, and issued a police car which was going to drive to Krakauer's house. Frasier, Thompson, and Dipper got in the back of the car, which was driven by two policemen.
The car arrived at a huge estate, the home of Krakauer. One of the policemen knocked at the door, and a butler answered.
"May we speak with Mr. Krakauer, please?" Frasier asked.
The butler left, and after a few moments Krakauer appeared at the door.
"Whaddaya want?" Krakauer said.
"A criminal is on the loose in this city, and we have reason to believe he may be in hour house." one of the police officers said.
"What reason is that?" Krakauer asked.
"We've discovered you have had a friendly relationship with the man we are looking for in the past." Frasier said.
"This is my house. You can't come in here." Krakauer said.
"My search warrant says otherwise." a policeman said, shoving Krakauer aside. The policemen, along with Thompson who had some high-tech equipment, searched the house for Mr. Northwest. Thompson's heat detector revealed a man in a room which had a locked door. He alerted the police, who knocked down the door. Inside was the face of Mr. Northwest.
"He's here! Move, move!" A policeman yelled.
Suddenly, Mr. Northwest got up, and ran out a side door on the other side of the room, which led to the garage. A policeman shot his hand, but he was able to keep going. He continued to a car, which he got in and began driving away in
"After him!" One of the policemen yelled.
The crew of five ran back to the police car, which followed Mr. Northwest in hot pursuit. Mr. Northwest's car eventually took a turn down a country road, and then the car drove into the woods.
"Out of the car!" one of the officers yelled.
All five of the group members got out of the car, and ran to where the car had entered the forest. They saw the car, laying in a river, smashed up.
One of the policemen broke a window, but nobody was in it.
"He got away!" Thompson yelled.
"Look, follow that trail of blood!" Dipper said.
The five of them followed the blood trail through a thick forest. Eventually, the blood trail stopped at the base of a giant tree.
"Where did he go?" Frasier asked.
The five searched around for a while, until Dipper looked up and spotted him in the trees.
"Guys." Dipper whispered, pointing upwards.
The other four looked upwards, each gasping at the site of Mr. Northwest.
"What do we do?" Thompson whispered.
"All right. You're surrounded. Come down with your hands up and nobody gets hurt." one of the police officers said.
There was no response.
A police officer fired a bullet upwards as a warning.
"Come down now, or you're dead." The policeman said.
A gunshot was heard, and the policeman collapsed to the ground.
"He's armed!" Frasier yelled.
"Take cover!" Thompson said.
Dipper pulled the bleeding police officer under a bush, where Mr. Northwest could not see him.
"Call 911!" Dipper said.
"I already did. They are on their way." the unhurt police officer answered.
Dipper looked at the injured police officer. "He's losing blood fast. We need someone to take him to the hospital now."
"I'll do it." Thompson answered.
Thompson, with all the strength he could muster, picked up the policeman and hurried back to the car, avoiding being seen by Mr. Northwest. The three who remained huddled under a bush together.
"What can we do?" Frasier asked.
"Look, this man is obviously insane. We'll just have to shoot him." the policeman answered.
"How can we get a clean shot on him without him firing back?" Dipper asked.
"I'll risk it." the policeman answered.
The policeman stepped out, and fired his gun at where Mr. Northwest was. A yelp was heard, and another gunshot was fired. The policeman collapsed to the ground.
"No!" Dipper said.
"What do we do now?" Frasier asked.
"He has the only guns!" Dipper said.
"I'll go get it." Frasier said.
"Be careful!" Dipper replied.
Frasier carefully snuck out, grabbed the gun, and pulled the police officer out of harm's way.
"Okay, I'll try to finish him off. You do some first aid." Frasier said.
"Do you have a plan?" Dipper asked.
"Yeah, I'm going to go this way, and circle back around." Frasier said.
"Can't we just wait for help to arrive?" Dipper suggested.
"No, he might be expecting that. That might give him enough time to sneak away." Frasier said.
"Well good luck, and be careful." Dipper replied.
Frasier nodded, and began his plan. Dipper took out a first aid kit and began bandaging the police officer. The wound didn't look severe, and Dipper thought he would be okay.
A few minutes later, Dipper began hearing commotion. He heard one gunshot, then A rustle of leaves, and then another gunshot. Dipper wasn't sure what had happened, but he stayed where he was for safety. A few moments later, Frasier limped back under the bush, apparently shot in the leg.
"I shot at him. I missed, but he fell out of the tree. Then he shot me." Frasier said.
"Here, I'll give you first aid." Dipper said.
"No." Fraiser said, placing the gun in Dipper's hands. "The leaves eased his fall. He was walking away. Slowly, but he was getting away. Go get that bastard."
Dipper nodded. "Understood."
Dipper crept out from under the bush, and scanned the area around him. He was able to see where Mr. Northwest had fell, and he found traces of blood in one direction. Dipper followed this direction, until he spotted Mr. Northwest slowly limping behind a tree.
Dipper snuck up on him, but Mr. Northwest heard the rustling leaves and turned around.
Dipper and Mr. Northwest pointed their guns at each other.
"Put the gun down." Dipper said.
"Trying to be bold, huh?" Mr. Northwest asked.
Dipper began tearing up. "Put it down."
"You still think you're better than me, huh? Maybe I am not in the best situation right now, but I am still a more important person than you. People won't talk about Dipper Pines in a hundred years, but they'll remember me. The illustrious Preston Northwest." Mr. Northwest said.
"That's what you think people will remember you for?" Dipper yelled furiously. "Take a look at yourself. You hired someone to kill me just because you didn't want me dating your daughter. Your daughter, who you didn't even care enough about to let her love who she loves." Dipper said with trembling hands.
Mr. Northwest scowled.
"Did you ever think, for even one second, how any of that would affect Pacifica? No, all you ever thought about was how it would affect you." Dipper said.
"Well, you see, that's how our family rose to success. No loyalties." Mr. Northwest said.
"You call that success? You call shooting your daughter success? You call changing a good man into a killing machine success? You call being arrested success?" Dipper yelled.
"You are simply focusing on all the wrong details. Remember, my family still has status and fortune." Mr. Northwest said.
"What family? Pacifica, the daughter who hates you? Your wife, who died...oh my god, you killed her, didn't you? She stood up to you or something, and you killed her?" Dipper said.
Mr. Northwest smirked. "I did what I had to do."
Dipper heard the faint sirens of police cars and ambulances.
"Time's up. You're not getting out of this one." Dipper said.
"Maybe not, but I still have the golden opportunity to take out my number one enemy." Mr. Northwest said, smiling.
Dipper tensed, and continued to hold the gun.
Mr. Northwest put his hand on the trigger.
"No!" Dipper yelled.
He pressed the trigger, but nothing happened. The gun was out of ammo. Mr. Northwest' smile quickly became a frown.
Dipper moved closer, still holding the gun.
"You don't have the guts." Mr. Northwest said.
Dipper looked at the gun, and then at Mr. Northwest.
"Go ahead, shoot me." Mr. Northwest said.
Dipper dropped the gun.
"I'm not going to let you turn me into the same monster that you are." Dipper said.
Policemen began appearing from all areas, and they quickly found and handcuffed Mr. Northwest.
"You're not getting away this time, punk." one of the policemen said.
Dipper smiled and waved at Mr. Northwest, who simply scowled.
Dipper quickly found an EMT, who informed him that Frasier and both police officers were already headed to the hospital, and that they would be alright.
A man in a suit walked up to Dipper. "Mr. Pines, I'd like you to offer you a position at our crime investigation agency. All of your actions here today described by the others were truly heroic."
Dipper looked at the man. All his life, he had wanted a job like this. He almost said yes, but then he thought about Pacifica. If he took this job, he would rarely see her. He could get hurt, or worse. At that moment, Dipper realized all he cared about was finally being able to have an uninterrupted relationship with Pacifica.
"I'm sorry sir, I'll have to turn you down. I have other obligations." Dipper said.
