It was a month after the plane crash, Dipper had made the decision. He was going to propose to Pacifica. He had realized now that they had gotten their memories back, they actually had been together for a while now. He spent a while picking out a ring, but decided on a simple but pretty ring; he didn't want anything too fancy, because Pacifica hated being reminded of her parents. He decided he was going to ask her that night after a romantic dinner.
Dipper got in a nice suit, put the ring in his pocket, and met Pacifica at the door, who was in a beautiful blue dress.
"Ready?" Dipper asked.
"Yep." Pacifica replied.
The two of them left the apartment, and walked a few blocks in the cool spring air to local Italian restaurant.
They were seated, and after ordering, put their menus down.
"This is so nice. With that whole situation a month ago, and both of us having to work so much, I feel like we haven't had an evening to ourselves in a while." Pacifica said.
"Yeah. It really is. You look beautiful tonight." Dipper said.
Pacifica smiled. "Thanks."
"Have you heard from anyone from Gravity Falls lately?" Dipper asked.
"Yeah. One of my friends is an alcoholic. The other one is a doctor." Pacifica said.
Dipper laughed "Wow, they went down different paths. Hey, did you hear that guy Robbie from Gravity Falls is part of that really popular band called 'Monstropolous'?" Dipper asked.
"Robbie. I don't remember him. That's cool though. I've heard about some other people, though. Grenda married that Austrian fellow, and Candy and Atlantico broke up like three times, but they are back together now. Have you heard about how anyone else has been doing?" Pacifica said.
"Yeah, I talked to some of them at the trial. Lee is working as a dealer in Las Vegas, Nate is a teacher, Tambry is working at Apple, Gideon is in Alcatraz, of course, and Tyler replaced the old mayor when he died a few years ago." Dipper said.
"Tyler. Was he that weird guy that always said 'Get em, Get em!'?" Pacifica asked.
Dipper laughed. "Yeah!"
The couple continued to talk about old times, while enjoying a nice Italian meal. When they had finished, they began walking home, and Dipper started working up the courage to ask her to marry him.
They arrived back at the apartment, and Dipper dimmed the lights.
Pacifica put down her purse and was about to sit down.
"Wait!" Dipper said.
Pacifica turned around.
"Listen, there's something I need to ask you." Dipper said, getting down on one knee.
Pacifica gasped.
"Ok, here goes. Back in Gravity Falls, when I was twelve years old, frankly, I was pathetic. I tried ridiculous things to try to make girls like me. Then, I met a girl, and she liked me for who I was, and I liked her for who she was. Then, ten years later, I was a loner at a bar in Seattle, and I met a beautiful girl one day, and she became my whole life. Then, a few months later, I saw a girl on a train, and I knew that I had loved that girl with all my heart. Because you can't forget love. And all three of those girls were you. And now, here we are, with all of our roadblocks past us. And while those were difficult, I'm glad for them now, because they show the strength of our bond. You make me happier than anyone, and I try to do the same for you. So, Pacifica, answer me this. Will you marry me?" Dipper said, pulling the ring out from his jacket.
"Yes!" said Pacifica both smiling and teary.
Then, the newly engaged couple opened their arms and hugged each other.
Dipper and Pacifica sat at a Seattle coffee house, deciding on wedding plans.
"Okay, let's get these wedding plans down! I've made a list of the seventeen things we need to choose. You can decide on most of them, I just liked making the list." Dipper said.
"Okay." Pacifica chuckled.
"Item one: Location." Dipper said.
"Hmmm...how about Fiji?" Pacifica suggested.
"Fiji? Where would we get the...oh, right. You're rich!" Dipper said.
"Actually, I donated most of the Northwest fortune that I inherited to charity. But I left some out for our wedding, and a safety net in case something happens to us, and money for college if we ever have kids, and money for early retirement, and money for us to just blow whenever, and money for vacation." Pacifica said.
"Wasn't that, like, all of the money?" Dipper asked.
"Nope, only like 10%." Pacifica said.
"Ok, well, in that case, Fiji sounds good. Item two: date." Dipper said.
"What is it now, April? Let's say June." Pacifica said.
"Item three: Lots of invitees, or not?" Dipper asked.
"Good lord, not a lot. I say just family, and a few friends." Pacifica said.
"All right, we seem to be on the same page." Dipper said. "Item four: Maid of honor and Best man."
"Hmm..I don't really have any good girl friends." Pacifica said.
"Well, I was thinking Mabel could be your maid of honor, and Atlantico could be my best man, since he's your friend. Sort of a trade off." Dipper said.
"Sounds cool. Wow, I can't believe Mabel is actually going to be at my wedding, much less my maid of honor." Pacifica said.
"Okay. Item five: setting." Dipper said.
"I think an outdoor wedding would be nice." Pacifica said.
"Yeah, maybe on the beach!" Dipper said.
Dipper and Pacifica continued to make plans, finishing Dipper's list.
Dipper sat at a pub in San Francisco waiting for Soos, Wendy, and Mabel. He had decided to tell the old gang the big news. Pacifica was busy, so she couldn't make it. Mabel lived in San Diego, Soos lived in Gravity Falls, and Wendy lived in Los Angeles, so the commute to San Francisco was not long for any of them, thanks to the newly installed hyper loop, introduced in 2023.
"Hey, bro! What's up?" Mabel said, wearing a sweater as always.
"Oh, hi Mabel. Sit down." Dipper said.
"So, you have some big news, huh? What is it? Huh? Huh?" Mabel asked, poking Dipper. Even though she was a grown woman, she was still her silly self.
A few minutes Soos and Wendy arrived, too. "Hey, guys!" Dipper said.
"Hello, Dipper! Wow, we haven't seen each other in...nine years." Wendy said.
"Dude, what's up?" Soos said.
"All right, everyone. Sit down. I've got some big news." Dipper said.
Everyone sat down. "I am engaged to Pacifica." Dipper said.
"Cool, bro. Join the married club!" Soos said.
"Wow, last time I saw you, you were 13. Now you're getting married." Wendy said.
"WHAAA? Oh my god! I can't wait for the wedding! When is the wedding? Have you picked a location? Has Pacifica gotten a dress?..." Mabel rattled on excitedly.
"We're getting married in Fiji, on June 16th. You are all invited, with flight expenses paid courtesy of the Northwest fortune. And Mabel, we want you to be the maid of honor." Dipper said.
"Yes! Yes! Yes!" Mabel said.
"Dude, Fiji? Whoa." Soos said.
"So, can you all make it?" Dipper asked.
"Yeah." Soos said.
"Of course!" Mabel said.
"Wouldn't miss it." Wendy said.
"So, enough about me. How have you guys been?" Dipper asked.
"Well, I have a boyfriend. His name is Dan." Mabel said.
"Congratulations!" Dipper said.
"Me and Melody have been great. We got a cat." Soos said.
"I've been alright." Wendy said lackadaisically.
"Well, it's great to see you all again. I miss those days when we all hung out together." Dipper said.
"Yo, remember that time we all went into that bunker?" Soos said. "And we got chased by that weird-ass shapeshifter?"
"Yeah, and Dipper admitted his feelings for Wendy!" Mabel said.
Dipper laughed "Yeah. Sorry about that, Wendy."
"Why would you be sorry?" Wendy asked.
"Well, I figure I would feel extremely awkward if some twelve year old girl liked me when I was fifteen." Dipper said.
Wendy shrugged. "You weren't an average twelve year old."
"Still. Anyway, it all worked out for me." Dipper said.
The gang continued to reminisce about old times. At the end of the meal, everyone exchanged good-byes.
"See you at the wedding!" Dipper said.
That night, Dipper and Pacifica decided on the final guest list.
"Okay, I'm inviting Mabel, Soos, Melody, Wendy, Stan, my parents, two of my college friends named Hamilton and Thatcher, and my cousins Allie and Elliott." Dipper said.
"I'm inviting Atlantico, Candy, Eva, who is my friend that didn't become an alcoholic, Tracy, who is my alcoholic friend, and my college friends Janet and Laura." Pacifica said.
"No family members?" Dipper asked.
"Oh, god no." Pacifica replied.
"Alright, that brings our total to seventeen, I think. Sounds small enough to me." Dipper said.
"Yeah." Pacifica replied.
Dipper smiled at Pacifica. "Let's do this."
