Chapter 4: Pewter City
I don't own anyone but Terra (A/N battles work differently in this world. The pokemon know all of their moves to begin with and there are no TM/HMs. There are no need for levels. Battles are based on the skills of the trainer.)
By mid-morning Gary and Terra arrived in Pewter City. The town and its people were not kidding when they call it the city of rocks. The two of them went directly to the Pokémon Center before heading to the gym. They had to wait two hours for their Pokémon to heal. Then they decided to head over to the gym which was also made of rocks.
The gym looked like one of the Flintstone's building in the cartoons. The doors opened to a main lobby of the building. It was bright and cheerful inside the building instead of the cold and dark they were expecting. At the main desk was a little kid who was performing tasks of a secretary. The little boy greeted Terra and Gary. He immediately told Terra and Gary that Brock the leader was available for battling the two of them. The little boy led them to the battlefield which was in a different part of the building.
The lights lightened up to reveal the rock gym's battlefield. At the other side of the field was a young man in a meditation pose. The young man looked like he was in his late teens to early twenties. He was dressed in orange top with green canvas pants that both had black outlining. The young man finally looked up and stated for his little brother, Flint, to leave and go back to his post.
"Welcome to the Pewter City gym. I am Brock the gym leader…Oh My God?! Terra Sakaki…is that you? My…my have you grown. I think that the last time that I saw you was at that conference at the league. Who's your friend?" Brock then gave them a warm-hearted smile as he waved to Terra.
Terra blushed a little bit. "It's great to see you to Brock. This is Gary Oak. We both want to challenge you to a battle." She cheerfully told Brock. He chuckled and asked who was first then between the two of them. Gary and Terra looked at each other. They forgot to figure that out as they traveled to Pewter City.
"Ladies first Terra!" Gary stated to her. She shrugged and pulled out a Pokéball. "Let's go Flora!" Out popped her Bulbasaur that was ready to prove itself to its trainer.
"Looks like you've prepared Terra. However, I knew that you would have. So I am going to challenge you with stronger Pokémon that I have in reserve and they protect the gym. My Graveler should be able to rock your world!" Out popped the massive Pokémon that shook the floor of the gym. "I picked special Pokémon due to your advance skills. I hope that this alright with you, Terra?" Brock asked her. Terra stated that she was fine with that. Brock smiled and then stated the rules for the match. "This is going to be a two on two battles with no time limit. Now Let's Rock and Roll! Graveler use tackle attack!"
Graveler try to attack but Flora was able to doge it with ease. Flora obeyed Terra and sent out a leech seed on Graveler. Its HP started to suck back to Flora. Terra then switched out her Flora for Tory the Kid. Tory the Kid showed that it was ready for battle.
"Tory stomp Graveler" The bull Pokémon started to charge at the massive rock Pokémon when it did rock polish to protect itself. Tory jumped into the air and then landed on Graveler's head and stub of a neck. However the rock polish had raised Golem's defense and the move did little damage.
"Terra! Why the hell did you switch your Pokémon?! Flora could have kicked Graveler's ass by now!" Gary had shouted from the sidelines. Terra could tell the attitude was from nerves for her and then his match later.
"Because... I want all of my Pokémon to become stronger. Tory use skull bash then switch over to ice beam!" Tory threw its head into Graveler's head and held its place by the horns to open its mouth and deliver an ice beam attack. It threw Graveler back into the wall of the gym. Brock shouted for Graveler to use its sandstorm attack then strike with rock slide.
A veil of sand swept around Tory as the Graveler roared a mighty cry. At the top of the column of sand rocks appeared and crashed down onto Tory. Tory cried out in pain, which made Terra shiver. She shrugged it off and yelled to her Pokémon to stay calm and focused. Tory was also to fire Fissure when Terra told him to. "NOW!" The Pokémon obeyed and did the move and the battle field split into two.
Graveler got its foot caught into the fissure line and it could not get out. Graveler desperately tried to put its foot out yet at the same time Tory stomped onto the middle of Graveler's head and it was a direct hit. Graveler looked woozy then fainted and was taken out of the battle.
Brock chuckled yet at the same time he could not believe that Terra had gotten that strong since the last time he saw her.
"This Pokémon you may not know as it is a prehistoric Pokémon…time to rock and roll, Kabuto!" A shellfish Pokémon appeared with its demon red eyes gleaming at Terra and a panting Tory. Terra recalled Tory and sent out her Flora.
"Flora use leech seed and then vine whip it." The seeds landed on the Kabuto and vines wrapped around the Kabuto, sending HP back to Flora. Then vines shot out of Flora's sides and struck the Kabuto hard.
"Kabuto use slashes on the leech seed and then use blizzard on the Bulbasaur." The creature tried to follow its master's orders but it could not break free. However it was still able to send out a powerful blizzard attack.
"Flora substitute now and quickly!" The Pokémon followed command and the blizzard was dodged. "Vine whip it again." The vine whip was so hard that Kabuto was sent crashing into the wall and fainted upon impact. Brock recalled his Pokémon and declared that Terra was the winner of the match.
She had won her first badge, the Boulder Badge. Brock walked over and handed over the badge to Terra after doing a handshake with her. "Your turn, Gary! It will be the same amount of Pokémon and there will be no time limit." Brock walked back to where he stood and then sent out his Geodude. Gary took the spot where Terra was originally standing and sent out his Shellshocker.
The battle began and ended quickly as Gary had told Shellshocker to water gun Geodude till it turns close to mud. Next came out Brock's Onix which Gary crushed easily with Shellshocker. He won his badge within 10 mins of starting the battle. Brock handed over to Gary his badge as well.
Terra and Gary both thanked Brock once again and then headed for the Pokémon Center, where they were to spend the night. At the crack of dawn, they would be heading towards Mt. Moon Passage Way to get to Cerulean City and the town's gym and their next battle.
