Cerulean City (Part 3)
(I do not own any character expect Terra) (Italized texts are thoughts)
After Gary and Terra woke up, they headed back to the Pokémon center. Terra still had Bam-Bam's issues to deal with before their battles with the gym leader. That Team Rocket scum had frightened Bam-Bam to the point that he would not come out of his Pokéball. In the lobby of the center, Terra sat there for ten minutes coaxing Bam-Bam out of his Pokéball. Terra also told her little buddy that this gym was water-type and he could get hurt really bad. So Flora was going to be the star for the match. To Terra's thanks Bam-Bam fully understood as she gave him a huge hug and thanked him. Bam-Bam went back into the Pokéball with no problem.
Terra then called out Flora. She wanted to pump up Flora for the match against the underwater mermaid. The only thing that Gary got right about the gym leader was the fact they used water-type Pokémon. Unlike Gary, Terra knew that the gym leader was a feisty red-hair named Misty. (I cannot let Gary find out that I know all the gym leaders because of my Dad.) Flora brought Terra's mind back in focus. She was trying to show Terra that she was pumped and primed for the battle. Terra smiled and called Flora back into the ball. Terra left the center looking for Gary.
"Hey! Terra, are you ready for your battle?" Gary turns around and asked her. "Is your little Bam-Bam going to disobey you again and stay in its Pokéball?" This statement was in a full on snubbing laughing manner. Terra was very close to punching Gary. (I'll just have Daddy punish him for it)
"Yeah…I'm ready for this gym battle. I already know that I am going to win but I'm not so sure about you. You don't have a Pokémon that can beat this gym's specialty." (Hopes that gets under your skin you little punk)
"Come on Terra…please tell me the type that the gym leader uses or possibly the Pokémon they use?" Terra stated that she had no advance knowledge of the gym or its leader.
As Terra and Gary walked over to the gym, Gary kept up with the nagging of Terra that by the time they reach the gym's doors she was close to slapping him. They entered the main lobby of the gym to find a reception desk with a purple haired girl that looked up at the two of them.
"Good morning! How may I help you two?" She greeted them with a cheerful smile.
"We're both here to challenge the gym leader. You can tell them that Terra is here…she'll know me." Terra smiled her sweet smile towards the receptionist and her own cheeky smile at Gary. The receptionist smiled back at Terra and picked up the phone that most likely had a direct line to gym leader. After muffling a few things into the phone the receptionist replied with a mummer a 'yes' and a 'right away' back into the phone.
The receptionist place the phone down and in a very cheerful manner told Gary and Terra that they could enter to the main pool room and to have good luck battling the gym leader. The two of them thanked her and went into the main pool room. The room contain a huge, most likely, Olympic size pool. At each end of the pool were giant rafts. On one side was bright blue while the other one was bright yellow. Standing on the bright blue raft was a girl that looked like Gary and Terra's age who had bright orange hair and dark blue eyes. Gary blushed a little bit because the girl was in a bikini.
"Well…well Terra took you long enough to get here! So let me official welcome you and your friend to my gym. Just so you know, hedgehog boy, I'm Misty the tomboy mermaid! At this gym water-Pokémon rule!" Gary looked pissed at the 'hedgehog' comment Misty made. He kept quiet because he wanted to be able to battle for his second badge.
"Terra since I know that you can battle I'm going to use a special set for your battle. For the hedgehog boy over there I'll be using my normal set. Is that fine for the both of you? Both of you will face two Pokémon a piece." Terra shook her head while Gary stated that his name was Gary Oak. "Ok…so who is going first?" Gary and Terra looked at each other and were having a mental conversation between the two of them about it.
"I'll go!" Gary hoped over the yellow raft and pulled out his first Pokéball. "Go Nidorino!" The Pokémon landed on the second yellow raft in the pool. "Misty calls Staryu!"
As Terra watched Gary and Misty battled it reminded her of why she loved to battle or watch them live. Even though she teased Gary Terra mentally admitted that Gary was a good battler like his older brother, Green. However, Green, in her opinion, would always be the better one of the two.
"Staryu return! Go Starmie!" Gary switches out his Pokémon to his rattatta. As Terra watch the battle continued she thought back to the first few times she met Misty.
(Terra's Flashback: I remember standing at the burial of the Cerulean Gym leaders. They were a loving couple cut down in their prime. Standing in front of the huge crowd was Misty, a five year old. She was standing next to her older sisters who were preteens. I was five too when this occurred. My Daddy had to go to it. At the luncheon after the burial, Misty went around and stated her 'thanks' to everyone including my Daddy and me. When she addressed the people who run the league, she pleaded with them to let her run her parent's gym. My heart went out for her. I was mentally pleading as well especially since they were deciding my fate as well. The President of the league stated that he had no problem with Misty taking over the gym as long as she allowed the league to train her.)
As Terra started to re-call the feelings from that day she started to remember meeting Misty at a later time as well.
(Terra's Flashback Part 2): I remember the first conference for the leaders after the death of the Cerulean Gym Leaders. Everyone was curious to see how Misty was handling her position. The league decided to test her in a match with a man from Vermillion City gym. They were concerned with stamina of her Pokémon and selection of Pokémon. I watched from the sidelines in 'aww' of her. In a few short days I was going to be in her shoes.) Suddenly, Terra was brought back from her memories.
"Great match Gary! You defiantly earn the cascade badge. It's your turn Terra!" Misty chuckled towards Terra. Terra and Gary exchange places. Terra took a deep breath to calm her down. "I'll call Golduck." A big blue duck like creature appeared and then jumped in the water in front of Misty.
Terra took another deep breath and thought about who she should send out first (Flora or Tory the Kid which one?). Finally she grabbed a Pokéball and sent Tory the Kid out. Tory the Kid landed on the challenger's pad and flared itself to pump up.
In Terra mind the battle seemed to rage on forever between the disables, mimics, surfs, and the occasional thunderbolts. The battle was intense. Both of the trainers Pokémon were giving their all till suddenly Golduck and Tory the Kid both collapse. Misty had called for a surf attack while Terra had called for a fissure attack that seems to have made the attack worse for the two of them.
"Return Tory the Kid…Go Flora!" At the same time Misty sent out her next Pokémon as well which turned out to be a Lapras.
Just like before the battle rages on. Like Misty's Golduck, Lapras apparently knew surf as well but was able to increase its power due to the rain dance that Misty had called for earlier. To make matters worse for Terra Misty called for the Perish Song move to be used.
"What type of move is that Misty? I've never heard of it." Terra pleaded with her eyes for Misty to spill the information.
Misty chuckled and stated… "You're going find out soon enough!" Terra was a little bit annoyed and pulled out the Pokédex to find out more about the move. Apparently the move faints both Pokémon within three minutes after hearing the song. (So I have to faint hers beforetimeruns out or else bothwill faint. If they both faint then it's a push and I won't be awarded a badge.)
"Flora use razor leaf on Lapras then use mega drain." Flora began to follow Terra orders again which suddenly the rain started to pour again. A surf attack wave crashed into Flora. Flora jumped into the pool and prepared to do a double-edge attack when both Pokémon squinted in pain. Apparently, the Perish Song count was at two. Leaves appeared out of the water and cut Lapras. It looked like the HP was really low and was ready to pass out if Flora dealt one more fatal blow before the time ran out. They had a little over a minute left.
"Come on Flora! Use body slam." Flora jumped up into the air and then landed on Lapras' hard shell crushing it upon impact. It was enough pain to knock out Lapras and Flora was declared the winner of the round. Therefore, Terra was declared winner of the battle.
Misty swam over to Terra side and pulled herself onto the raft that Terra was still on. She presented Terra with the Cascade badge. Flora had also swam over and started to rub into Terra ankle. Terra kneeled down and patted Flora's head. Terra thanked Flora and then places the badge into the badge case that her father had gotten her. (Terra: five more badges till I have to face Dad again. Six more and then I can enter the league.)
Gary and Terra walked back to the center as victors. They were also going to let their little buddies recover from their respective battles. Tomorrow they were going to head to Vermillion City.
