ULTIMATE WARNING IN PROFILE AND CHAPTER 1!

AU, OOC.

I think this is the sweetest sadness I ever wrote in my whole life. Yeah, Jade has some problems, but later everything will be revealed. For now just enjoy the fluffy moments of a lovable kitten!

A few days went past the new place, one or two things happening in the meantime. Jade found out that he had gotten from London to America, more precisely Denver. His owners, Sam and Dean Winchester were brothers and they were traveling constantly. While Jade's injury was healing, they remained at the motel, but the pair was already planning to go to a guy named Bobby.

Jade was terribly afraid of the day, when everything will be discovered, but of course, that day had come. As Sam was caressing his fur with a brush gotten from a pet store, pain shot through one of Jade's older wounds by a stronger stroke of the tool, breaking a mewl out of him. Sam dropped the brush alarmed then carefully examined the area: from under the black fur he discovered a long gash. Jade buried his face into his paws in shame. He waited for Sam to throw him out onto the streets, just like everybody else, who saw not only that one, but the others, too…

The gentle fingers surprised him, as they lifted him off the bed then Sam pulled him into his arms. Jade felt a great weight fall off his mind, when he heard the kind whispers:

"It's gonna be okay. From now on, no one's gonna ever hurt you. I won't let it…"

Jade stood up, his paws on his owner's chest, so his head could just reach the jaw of the sad face. Sam, it seemed, was a little surprised, when the kitten licked his chin, but Jade tried to show all the gratitude of the world in his little green eyes. Sam smiled at that and Jade rubbed his head into the man's neck, getting more tender caresses for that.

A bit later another discovery had occurred. Jade's fur was rather thick, so he could have an outwardly normal build. However when he followed Sam into the kitchen to get his food, a seemingly small accident had great influence on the progress of events. Sam knocked down the water bowl by accident during the making of food and it caught an unsuspecting Jade. The water completely soaked the kitten, the fur sticking to his body. Sam watched with dropped jaw, as the healthy looking kitten became a skinny little soul, whose bones were sticking out. The kitten's spine decorated his back like a string of pearls, his ribs were visible even through the fur and his legs were as thin as sticks. Jade posture turned into shame a second time, causing Sam's heart to break into pieces, but what crashed the shards to dust, was the kitten's disappointed limping under the chest of drawers.

Sam hurried to get a towel then crouch down in front of the chest of drawers. Fortunately, Jade was moping with his back turned towards him, so the young man could get him out from under the furniture unnoticeably. He carefully bundled the surprised kitten in the towel then – just like on the first day – dried him with tender strokes. Dean arrived then; he immediately noticed the saddened mood.

Sam continued to make the food for the kitten then he put the bowl before a wary Jade with a smile. The kitten's eyes widened slightly, as he spotted the double portion then he began eating happily.

"What happened?" he heard Dean's worried question.

"I don't understand" Sam sighed sadly. "How can anyone do this to an innocent animal? How can anybody starve such a poor little thing like that?"

Finishing with his meal, Jade glanced up at his owners: Sam was sitting on the closer bed, his face buried in his hands, while Dean was next to him, resting his hand on his brother's shoulder, giving him some comfort. Jade approached them and walked under Sam then sitting down he tilted his head up, looking at his owner with big, jade-green eyes. The young man opened his eyes, when he felt the searching gaze on him. As soon as he caught the innocence in it, the bitterness gathering inside him for days broke free with a sob.

Dean pulled his brother into his side, who cried out everything on the strong shoulder. After a long time he calmed down and Dean gently laid the young man down on the bed. When he tucked a shaking Sam in, Jade jumped up onto the mattress. While Dean helped the boy to fall asleep, the kitten curled up on his owner's chest and started purring loudly. After a few seconds the mantra lulled both of them to sleep.

The next morning they headed off to Bobby's. Jade was nestled into Sam's lap, a bit scared from the meeting, but the caresses helped him greatly to remain in his place. They were close to their destination, when Jade felt effect of the water he got halfway the trip. He quickly jumped up and began pacing between the door of the passenger's seat and the middle of the seat. Sam was staring at him confused for a while, but when the kitten pawed the door without his claws, the young man understood it.

"Pull over, Dean!" he called to his brother urgently.

"Why? Something's wrong?" Dean asked puzzled.

"Not yet, but hurry up or you can clean your car out" Sam rushed out. Dean immediately recognized the problem and pulled over. Sam quickly opened the door and Jade jumped down on the grass, running to the closest bush. After a minute he marched back to the car proudly, his head and tail held up high. He tried to jump in, but he could only catch the foot of the car's doorway. He began wildly kicking to get up, but he just landed on his bottom. The brothers started laughing and Sam lifted the kitten back into his lap.

"I hope he cleaned himself before he came back" Dean noted under his breath. They were surprised by the answering mew, as Jade threw his chest out proudly. Sam spoke up with laugh:

"I'll take that as a yes."

The sun was nearing the horizon, when they arrived at the salvage yard at last. Jade looked out the window with great interest: he'd never seen this many wrecks in one place. As the car door opened, Jade jumped out and looked around. Out of the blue a young Rotweiler shot out from the rows of wrecks and jumped on Dean. The man fell back with the dog on him, but instead of attacking, the animal began earnestly licking his victim's face.

"Rumsfeld!" Dean cried out with a laugh. "Enough… al-already…"

Sam grinned at the sight in front of him; he was glad that his brother reacted that well to the new dog, which inherited the name of his predecessor. Jade trotted next to the young man and observed the scene with an amused look.

Suddenly Rumsfeld snapped his head up and glanced at the newcomer then started running towards them. Jade hissed at the approaching stranger from fright.

"Rumsfeld!" Sam's shout was also scared, but unnecessary: the dog slid to a halt a foot from the kitten then lowered his head onto his front paws on the ground in shame and started whimpering. Jade ventured closer, his eyes widened from curiosity, and started sniffing the dog, which was eight times bigger than the kitten. When he realized that the dog wasn't any threat, he stood wit his two tiny front paws on the nozzle of the animal and licked his forehead with his small tongue. Rumsfeld started panting – careful not to let the kitten fall – and his tail began swinging so wildly that his bottom in the air was moving with it.

The brothers felt easier at the ending of the two animals' introduction and they started towards the house. Rumsfeld lay completely down and gently poked the kitten with his nose. Jade quickly caught on.

"Hey, Bobby" the brothers called at the same time. Their host, an older man gave them a flask that the two boys took a swig from. Bobby adjusted his trucker cap relieved then he spoke, his blue eyes shining with warmth:

"So what brings you boys here?" Suddenly he narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "You got into trouble?"

"Come on, Bobby!" Dean said with mock-hurt. "How could you think that?"

Sam rolled his eyes and spoke up:

"We found someone and until he's better, we thought we hole up at your house… If it's okay…"

"No trouble at all" Bobby waved dismissively. "And where is this someone?"

At that moment Rumsfeld stepped into the house with careful, measured steps. The reason of that was discovered soon: on the dog's back Jade was sitting with mischievously glinting eyes.

"Bobby" Dean spoke, when the two animals stopped beside him, "I'd like to introduce you to our new kitten. His name is Jade."

Hearing his name, Jade lowered his head shyly and started twisting one of his front paws on Rumsfeld back with a mew.

"He's a really gorgeous creature" Bobby admired the kitten. "And quite adorable. Although he's a bit underfed."

"We're trying to fatten him up" Sam commented. Bobby then cautiously stepped closer with a smile, trying not to scare Jade, and scratched the black ear, causing Jade to purr out loud.

Taking a seat in the living room, Bobby brought some food for Jade, while the boys told him the story of the kitten. Sam watched in wonder, as the kitten pushed his little bowl to Rumsfeld, but the dog slid it back with his nose. Jade then quietly mewed once and began eating. In a little while the night fell, so the occupants of the house went to bed.

More days passed in peace and harmony. Jade was curious about the house, but he was terrified to look around alone. Rumsfeld volunteered a few times to show him around, but the kitten didn't dare to go anywhere without Sam. One morning when he woke up, he didn't find the young man in the bed. He ran to the stairs scared to death, where he trudged down the steps as fast as possible for his tiny body. Reaching the ground he caught Sam voice from the kitchen, so he dashed that way. The moment he saw the leg of the familiar sweatpants, he sprinted to it and dug his claws into the material. After a few seconds someone wanted to lift him up, so he started meowing loudly, but he was finally pried away from the pants. He could calm down only when he heard Sam's soothing words:

"Shhh, it's okay. You're safe now. I'm not leaving you."

As soon as he was pulled to the young man's chest, Jade cling to the T-shirt and hid himself away as much as he could. The long fingers tenderly caressed his trembling body.

"What happened?" Bobby asked softly.

"I think he went through something traumatic and I represent the perfect safety for him" Sam explained.

"Well, you found him after all" Dean said. "You saved his life."

Bobby and Sam nodded their agreement. A little while later Jade collected himself and looked up: the damp streak was shining again next to his nose, but now there was another one on the other side.

"Poor thing" Sam breathed horrified. "He's scared to death. I'll take him up to my room and comfort him" with that the young man stood up and walked upstairs. Dean quickly made Jade's breakfast and brought it after them, entrusting Sam with the feeding of the kitten.

"Look, Jade!" Sam called softly. "We're in my room. Just the two of us. I'll protect you."

Jade looked around again at that. Seeing that the possible threats disappeared, he pulled his claws out of Sam's T-shirt. The young man placed the bowl full of food on the bed and put the kitten down in front of it, leaving one hand on the still shivering back. Jade – just like after the visit at the vet – licked the food warily then ate a bite. The third of his breakfast vanished, when he nestled back into Sam's lap, where he cleaned himself with small moves.

All the while Sam stroked lovingly the tiny creature then began talking to the kitten, who answered his questions in his own way. Not much later the breakfast was eaten completely and Sam was lying under the covers, Jade sleeping next to him. The young man noticed that the kitten gained a little weight, but he hadn't grown and was still on the verge of skinniness. However Sam knew that it counted as a huge progress, considering where they started from. Apart from that, Jade became happier and livelier, like he should've always been, although the famous "kitten-curiosity" was missing from him, especially because of the clinging to Sam. But everyone understood that.

For Rumsfeld, Jade was the only cat-friend, which was a huge thing, since the dog have always chased away all of his archenemies, but Jade could even ride on his back. Sam smiled as he remembered that scene in the living room that he'd walked in on an afternoon: Rumsfeld had been piggy-backing the kitten around, while Jade had been napping on the dog's back, his legs stretching downwards on the animal's sides. Dean and Bobby had joined him in the doorway and the three of them had known that Rumsfeld had rocked the tiny kitten to sleep.

"I don't know what happened to you" Sam whispered to the kitten, "but I'm gonna do everything to not let it happen again. I promise you that."

Then suddenly Jade glanced up at his owner then crawled closer and curling up he fell asleep again. This time, though, he started to purr, luring a smile onto Sam's lips. The young man followed him like this into the land of dreams.
