ULTIMATE WARNING IN PROFILE AND CHAPTER 1!
AU, OOC.
Well, troubles are still not over. For an explanation: we all saw an angel turn avenging, right? I'm sure you remember Castiel from Season 5. :)
Alright, guys! Enjoy!
Sam startled out of his troubled dreams that evening. His restlessness only increased from what Dean had told Jade earlier. He'd already woken up, when Jade had left him alone in the room and Sam had sneaked after him. At the top of the stairs he'd listened in on the whole conversation until Jade had tucked Dean in on the couch. After that Sam had returned to his room and cried himself to sleep. Now waking up he decided to look around the house, maybe he could talk to his brother.
Stepping into the kitchen he found his luck: Dean was sitting at the table, his back against the entrance. He was drinking something from a mug now and then.
"Dean…" Sam started, but his brother just jumped up and began walking out of the kitchen. Sam quickly caught his arm, stopping his departure. Dean didn't even look at him.
"Let's talk about this!" Sam pleaded. "Please…"
"Let me go!" there was that damned defeat and exhaustion in Dean's threat, and Sam wanted to erase them from it.
"No, let's talk about this!" Sam continued firmly and a bit hastily. "I'm sure we can find a solution…"
"There's nothing to talk about" Dean protested without any heat.
"Dean…" Sam tried again, but the fist landing on his left cheek stopped him. Before he could regain his composure and try to reason with his angry brother, the steel grip grabbing his neck literally cut off his words. His back hit the wall, the collision bursting the remaining oxygen out from his lungs. Sam felt himself slightly lift up from the floor and he grabbed his brother's wrists in fear, whilst trying to get the pressure off his throat by standing on his tiptoes. Through the veil falling in front of his eyes he saw cold, cyanide-green irises stabbing into him.
"D… D…" Sam wanted to reach his brother's rage-filled mind, but the fingers squeezing his windpipe didn't let any sound come to the surface. Dean knew with frightening precision, where to put pressure on the neck for the perfectly silent strangling method.
All of a sudden the steel grip vanished from his throat and Sam slowly slid to the floor, his back still leaning against the wall. His sight was covered in a haze and he tried to gasp in a breath, ignoring the small drop of saliva trickle out of the corner of his mouth.
Jade took in the scene that greeted him in the kitchen with terror: he hurried downstairs at the hard bang, just to see as Dean wanted to murder his brother in cold blood – slowly and painfully. The boy instantly acted: with enormous strength he dragged the man away from Sam and tried to calm him down. Dean wanted to rush back, but Bobby, who just arrived, kept him back successfully. Jade caught the angry tears flowing down Dean's cheeks: the man wanted to take revenge on Sam for the betrayal.
"Calm down, Dean!" Jade murmured into the man's ear. "He's your brother. Your little brother, who you looked after. Who looks up to you. I know you want to get through this together. Don't ruin your chance!"
As the teen spoke, Dean's tension slowly let up some, so Bobby offered to escort the man into his room.
"Now you're going up" Jade began, "and you're going to sleep this whole thing off. You're going to let your thoughts to sort themselves out, so tomorrow you can behave with a clear mind. Go upstairs and get some rest!"
As the man disappeared from the kitchen, Jade knelt down next to Sam, who was still sitting on the floor. The teen tenderly wiped the small dribble from the young man's chin then examined him.
"It's okay, Sam" he muttered during that. "It's over now. It's all going to be better tomorrow."
Suddenly the room was filled with rattling gasps that were gradually speeding up. Jade immediately knew what was going on. He carefully laid Sam on his back; that was when Bobby returned.
"Oh my God!" he whispered, drinking in the state of the young Winchester: widened eyes, widely opened mouth and fast, rattling gasps.
"Sam, look at me!" Jade cried out, holding the young man's face in his hands. "Look me in the eye!" he added, seeing that Sam listened to him. "Take deep breaths and soothe your mind!" Jade then took Sam's hand and held it to his chest. "Just like me!" he added quickly and started to breath deeply. Slowly but steadily the technique worked, however, as Bobby stepped to them, he noticed the young man's paleness and shivering.
"He's going into shock!" Jade cried out in fear and dashed out to the living room. Bobby quickly kneeled next to the young man, who was like a son to him, and tried to soothe him. Jade then returned with a blanket that was used up to cover Sam.
"Panic attack and shock" Bobby breathed dumbfounded. "What's wrong with him?"
"He realized that his own brother, his only family wanted to kill him" Jade replied softly.
"That's just happened once before" Bobby commented. "But it'd happened the other way around."
Jade looked at the older man shocked, but he had to ignore that now.
"I-I'm c-o-old" Sam stuttered out fearfully, his body still shivering, but Jade shushed him:
"You're going to be okay. Just stay awake, alright?" Sam gave a shaky nod. For a long while they just sat with the young Winchester on the kitchen floor, until the young man was shivering only from the cold tiles. Bobby and Jade then helped him up to his room, so Sam could finally have a full night's sleep. Jade got in the bed next to him and looked after Sam throughout the whole night.
"J-Jade" Sam spoke once his trembling got more under control. "W-Will I ever g-get back my b-brother?"
"Of course" the teen smiled. "Just give him some time!"
The next morning Sam woke up with a hurting throat. As he smoothed his hand down his neck, his fingers touched scratched, rough skin. He fearfully hurried to the full-length mirror in his room and he was completely shocked from the sight: five long red streaks ran along his neck, beginning from the back and ending in the front. Then everything came back to him from the previous night; he sat on the end of the bed dejectedly and gazed into nothingness.
"Good morning, Sam!" a kind voice startled him from his silence, coming from the doorway. Looking up he met with Jade's small form; a great amount of Déjà vu flared up in him.
"My brother" Sam whispered, "my own brother wanted to kill me last night. I don't think this is such a good morning."
Jade smiled understandingly, but for some reason that was just fuel to Sam's anger.
"From now on things would be better…" the teen started, but Sam jumped up furiously.
"Don't you understand?" Sam raised his voice, more and more heat gathering in his words, as he continued. "I pushed away the only person, who stood by me in this damned world! You don't have any idea what I'm going through!"
"Yes, I do…" Jade commented, but he was interrupted.
"You're wrong!" Sam screamed. "Why the hell do you care, anyway? This whole thing is your fault! If you hadn't wormed your way into our lives, everything would be THE SAME!" Sam finished his tirade panting then as his brain registered his words, his eyes widened.
"Jade, I didn't…" he began, but Jade just lifted his hand up. Tears were streaming down the teen's face, sadness was glinting in jade-green in his eyes, but despite all that he was still smiling kindly.
"I got used to it" Jade murmured, not even the tiniest tremble in his voice, proving his words. "I'll leave you alone."
As Jade turned towards the door, a strong hand caught his arm and guided him back around then two muscled arms pulled him gently to a hard chest.
"I didn't mean to!" Sam breathed terrified. "I just got angry, I didn't want to hurt you! Please, don't leave me! I've already lost Dean, don't make me lose you, too!"
Jade raised his head at the desperate ramble, suspecting what could be going on with the young Winchester.
"Sam" he spoke pulling away a little and Sam looked down at him. "Would you let me examine you?"
The young man stared at him confused, but Jade just gazed at him pleadingly. Finally Sam nodded.
"Alright" Jade said, still observing the man with furrowed brows. "Could you lie on the bed, please?"
Sam slowly stretched out on the mattress and Jade took a seat on the edge, next to Sam. The teen smoothed his small palms on the chestnut-brown locks, exactly on the temples.
"This will be a bit painful" Jade explained and Sam's eyes jumped frightfully to each hand then back to the jade-green eyes. "Close your eyes!" Sam obeyed with a terrified glint in his irises. "I'm going to count to three and we're going to breathe in together. When our lungs are full, I'm going to start the examination. Alright. Get ready…"
Sam's breathing quickened a little, just like his heartbeat…
"One…"
His whole body was shaking, scared of what could happen to him…
"Two…"
He fisted the cover on his bed, readying himself for the possible pain…
"Three!"
Both of them took a deep breath at the same time then as the room silenced, Sam and Jade prepared themselves for the event before them.
Suddenly Sam's head was filled with heat that started from his temples and spread through his brain like wildfire. He started whimpering from pain and tried to stifle his screams by biting on his lower lip, helping his stillness with tense limbs. As the fire began to grow, his skin almost blistering from the flames, a blood-curdling scream reached his ears from nowhere.
It seemed like forever until the wildfire died out, when he started panting loudly. He was shivering hard from the exertion. At last, a soft voice broke through the haze of pain.
"Come on, Sam!" he heard Jade's murmur. "Help us lift you up!
Sam felt his strength slowly return, so he could scramble up into a sitting position. He was then leaned against the headboard and his head was tilted back.
"Hold this here!" he heard Jade again, as something was pressed to his nose. He took a hold of the cloth with trembling fingers then another soft voice reached his muddled mind – a familiar voice. The owner's hand tenderly stroked his locks, holding his head tilted back like this.
"It's okay, Sammy, you're doing good, everything's gonna be okay…"
"Dean…" Sam forced out, but even he pulled a face at his raspy, slightly croaking voice.
"Don't talk, Sammy!" Dean hushed him. "Take care of your throat!"
"What…" Sam started, but Jade quickly answered:
"I examined you and it looked like you were going through a horrible torture."
"Burn…" Sam croaked almost inaudibly, but Dean translated it. Jade continued his explanation:
"You bit through your lower lip then started screaming so loud that by the time Dean got here, you were already hoarse from it. But you still screamed…" Jade's voice started to tremble. "Then your nose started bleeding. The examination should have lasted a couple of minutes, but you couldn't react to anything apart from your agony for at least ten minutes…"
"Alright" Dean spoke and lifted the cloth from his brother's nose. "The bleeding stopped. You can lift your head up now."
Sam obeyed, but then the room started to spin.
"Dizz…" he moaned, but he was already swaying to the side. Dean quickly caught him and pulled him in his arms. Sam tried to hug his brother back weakly, who continued to stroke his hair.
"Why did you examine him?" the man asked turning to Jade.
"Before this whole thing there was a little mess" the boy replied. "He got angry all of a sudden and started to shout at me, but when I wanted to go out of the room, he had a sudden change in his behavior: he wouldn't want to let me go. It was like before everything… It's like he has a personality disorder, but I knew that wasn't quite right."
"How did you know?" Dean asked suspiciously.
"I think I saw" Jade answered with a bad feeling, "that his eyes flashed yellow… Twice…"
Dean's eyes widened from hearing that and tightened his hold on his brother, who registered relieved the strength of the protective hands on his shoulder and head. Now he knew that he got a little bit of his brother back, the one he knew all the time.
"And w-what did you find?" Dean asked already suspecting the answer.
"At first his magic came to my help" Jade explained. "My mind was filled with pleasant warmth and it guided me to my destination: to his soul. A turquoise, swirling ball of light appeared in front of me. As I got closer, though, to look at it, a raven-black cloud of smoke materialized in front of me, stopping me to get closer like a wall. Then Sam's magic and the smoke clashed with each other; the heat and the force threw me out of there. I came to Sam's screams…"
"Sorry, I'm sorry" Sam whispered. "I'm so sorry, Dean, I'm so terribly…"
"It's gonna be okay" Dean shushed his distraught brother and started rocking him. Jade silently left the pair alone, making sure they knew he wasn't going to leave them forever.
Things calmed down to the afternoon. Sam was still resting in his bed after the whole ordeal, slowly gathering his strength back and Dean looked in on him from time to time, checking on his brother. Otherwise he was working with Bobby in the garage, repairing some cars and Jade was cooking dinner. As the teen finished, he tiptoed up the stairs into Sam's room.
"Hey, Sam" he greeted the young man with a smile. Sam was now sitting against the headboard and some color returned into his cheeks.
"Hey" Sam smiled, too. "What is it?"
"I thought I would check on you" Jade shrugged and took a seat on the edge of the bed.
"I hope you don't have a grudge against me" the young man lowered his head in shame and began twisting the cover in his fingers.
"I never did" the teen commented then took a deep breath. "Sam" the young man looked up at the slightly nervous expression. "I was thinking about going shopping. I would like to spend some money on myself."
"So you want money?" Sam asked, but Jade just turned away dejectedly.
"It doesn't matter" he murmured sadly. "It's not important."
Before Jade could escape, Sam grabbed his arm.
"I'm sorry" he said softly. "I didn't mean it like it came out. I didn't mean to be a jackass. Please, go on!"
"I just wanted to inform you, so you wouldn't worry" Jade elaborated. "I have my own money, but I don't have any normal clothes, so I thought I'd let you know."
"Of course" Sam agreed then looked around. On the nightstand he found a pen, so he snatched it up and grasped the teen's hand. "If there's any trouble" he continued, writing on the white palm, "and I mean, any trouble at all, call me and I'll get you, okay?" With that he released the boy's hand. Jade looked at the numbers in wonder then jumped into Sam's arms with a happy smile. The young man embraced his charge, who pressed a kiss on the blushing cheek.
"Thank you very, very, very much!" Jade cheered as he pulled away. "I'll be back soon! Thank you, bye!"
"Bye!" Sam quickly cried after the teen with a laugh when Jade dashed out of his room. He was just hoping that everything is going to go smoothly. He had no idea that it was to no avail.
Jade asked Bobby and Dean if one of them would take him to a store, where he could spend some money on himself. Bobby volunteered that he'd drive the teen there, so Jade said goodbye, informing Dean that dinner is ready. Soon the car arrived in the parking lot of a smaller plaza, where Jade jumped out, bouncing from excitement. He cheerfully waved goodbye to Bobby then hurried into the building. His jaw dropped, seeing the horde of shops that were doubled on the first floor. He began his trip in the miniature labyrinth with amazement.
