Chapter 12

"I don't have anything to say about the fight April. It was a simple misunderstanding." Jerry said calmly as he carried the bucket back to the office; April right behind carrying rags.

"That can't be a misunderstanding Jerry! If it were a misunderstanding Jack wouldn't take it that far. He would have left without another word; knowing he was acting stupid. He wouldn't go to fighting. What happened?!" April exclaimed.

"Nothing!" Jerry exclaimed right back. He stopped, turned around and faced April.

"Once again it's not nothing! Jack…" April got interrupted.

"April, you think you know Jack so well but you don't! He probably changed just like you! His temper might have changed too because of you and your damn escape!" Jerry shouted at her.

"How do you know that?!"

"Jack told us because we wanted answers that you didn't give!"

"You know what that's beside the point. What did you guys argue about?!"

"Beside the point?! April, he turned you into a vampire and because of that we're in this situation today!"

"So what; I'm a vampire! That didn't have anything to do with the argument! Did it?"

"Yes and something tells me every argument we're going to have is going to revolve around you being a vampire and Jack!"

"No!"

"Oh come, April, Jack is somewhat jealous and he's going to jump into our relationship every now and then. And then there is the fact that your vampire side is starting to threaten me!"

"I don't have control over my vampire side! She says what she wants and makes me take the blame! And Jack wouldn't do anything to our relationship!"

"How do you know that, April?! Jack is unpredictable, how are you suppose to know April!"

"Oh he got you there." April thought.

"I don't." April said quietly.

"Exactly, you don't know." Jerry said turning around and started to walk again. April followed quietly.

"You know what, I apart of me won't be surprised if April cheats on me with Jack, but that's not going to happen. Jack seems committed to…shut up think of…cereal. I like Frosted Flakes, Fruit Loops, and Honey Nut. If you haven't tasted Honey Nut Cheerios during your childhood…you basically had a boring childhood with no buzz the bee." Jerry covered his thoughts with cereal so April wouldn't know.

But that first part of the thought hurt April.

"I would never do that to you. What makes you think that? Is it because Jack was my first?" April asked quietly.

Jerry stayed silent for a moment. "Maybe."

"Jerry, I hate the bastard; just because he was my first doesn't mean anything."

Jerry took in a deep breath. "I know. I'm sorry I even thought such a thing."

"It's ok." April said and there was silence between them the rest of the way back to the office.

"Committed to what or more like whom?" April thought.

"So, you pressured Jack into telling you guys."

"Not really. We asked him once and spilled everything. He's making a great effort for you Kim." Milton said as he dried off the canoe.

Kim smiled. "That's sweet of him."

Milton nodded. "Yeah, but the chances of April liking the idea is slim to none."

"I know." Kim sighed sadly.

Milton patted her back softly. Kim straighten up and started to walk to the cabin with the bucket and everything in it.

Milton followed and started to talk about spider bites and how some are poison. Kim wasn't even paying attention she was thinking of Jack.

When they got to the cabin they saw April knocked out, laying on the table, and Jerry inching toward her with a sharpie. He had a stupid smile on his face.

"Jerry!" Kim exclaimed. Jerry stood up straight and looked at Kim and Milton.

"I didn't do anything…but I was close." Jerry whispered.

"I think she just saved your life man. You know her reflexes are crazy." Milton whispered.

"Keep in mind I'm a vampire and I'm aware of my environment almost all the time. Therefore I can hear you. I also smell the sharpie in Jerry's hand so if you came just an inch closer I would have slammed you to the ground. And that wouldn't have been my reflexes." April said grumpy with her eyes still closed.

Jerry's mouth hit the floor. "Alright I see how it is."

Milton and Kim snickered under their breath.

"Hey, you can't blame her she's had a tiring day." Kim thought.

"What are you laughing at?" Jerry asked Milton and Kim.

Milton and Kim raised their hand in defense. "Uh…nothing."

"That's what I thought." Jerry said with his chest out.

"Ok, now what?" Milton asked.

"Now we wait until dinner time which is in about three hours."

"Why do you think I'm trying to sleep right now?" April said with her eyes closed.

Milton nodded his head and found a spot to lie on the ground. Kim went and sat on the spiny chair behind the desk, leaned back, and closed her eyes. Jerry lied on the couch in the office. Milton would have taken that spot Jerry was already there. Everybody fell asleep.

Two hours later…

"Wake up, Wake up, you're in danger; get April and Jack. You need protection now." A silky feminine voice in Kim's head spoke as Kim slept. "Keep in mind when your in danger and you're close to your friends they're in danger too. Wake up!" The unfamiliar voice spoke again.

Suddenly Kim saw mental pictures of her friends freezing/drowning to death. She woke up gasping, in a cold sweat.

She looked around the room. It was dark, which was unusual because it's summer and daylight savings. She saw the body frames of her friend all lying down where they were before. Kim started to shiver.

"This is a little too cold for summer." Kim thought.

She got up and looked outside. There were gray clouds and the wind was hectic.

"There's a storm that's all. It's nothing Kim, don't get worried." Kim reassured herself. "Plus, if there was danger April would be up and protecting me."

"Think twice about that sweetheart. What makes you think April's ok in the first place; or any of your friends at that. You took too long to wake up." The unfamiliar voice spoke once more.

Kim turned around toward April. She looked fine. April was breathing normally and was sleeping peacefully.

"She is fine." Kim concluded.

"Look again Kim. This vampire is known for mind tricks."

Kim obeyed the voice and looked again. It was a terrifying sight.

April had a chain around her neck and someone was pulling at the ends choking her. Blood was on her neck and the chain. April was wide awake and gripping the chain; trying to pull it away. She screamed and screamed but they were unheard to the human ear. April looked over to Kim and her eyes said help me.

Kim tried to move but she was glued to her spot. She was forced to watch; she literally couldn't look away.

"Don't make me watch please."

The person choking April turned his head toward Kim. He had glowing red eyes and that's all she could see in the dark. He smiled and then she saw his sharp, white fangs.

"Poor thing can't do anything to help her protector." He had a deep, scary voice.

He tightened his grip on the chain and April screamed again but this time Kim heard it. It was ear piercing and scared the heck out of Kim. It scared her so bad she screamed too as if she could feel April's pain.

"I'm sorry you had to see this." The voice again.

Kim blinked and the scene changed back to normal. But this time April wasn't breathing and two glowing red eyes were in the corner. She saw the white fangs poking out his mouth.

Ok, that's all for the chapter.
