The next morning…

April got up an hour early and changed. She observed Kim quietly while messaging Alyx for status checks.

"Alyx, have you found anything yet." April messaged staring at Kim.

"Nope; April, I'm going to say what I've been saying for the past hour. Kim doesn't remember anything else but the killings. Nothing else is in her memory about Kevin. Wait…I found something!"

"What?!"

"Well, Kim's been sleeping and she's been dreaming about killing you but all that is gone now. Like nothing every happened. Now that I'm checking again she's not going to remember what happened last night. Now she's thinking about…" Alyx stopped herself.

April frowns in confusion. "What, is it something bad?" April messaged Alyx, worried.

"No, no it's nothing. Kim is just…really happy because of a certain someone."

"Who?" April asked out loud, eager to know.

"April, I'm not here to be your little spy and invade Kim's privacy. I'm sure she'll tell you who later."

"If you still had a body I'd slap you cross the face for not telling. You know I hate it when I'm not told things, especially about Kim."

"I know, but it's something she wants to tell you later."

April grunted. "Later has never been a good word for me."

"We'll escape but later, ok." Jack's voice echoed in April's mind.

"That was before he was even a vampire." April thought to herself.

"I know a lot of things about you, I've known you for the past, what, ninety four years. I mentored you and I was on the brink of death when you put me in Kim's body because you knew I'd be the best person for Kim if she's in danger. And you saved me. Well, my mind at least. Did I mention to you how thankful I am to you?" Alyx messaged April.

That brought tears to her eyes.

"Yes, I remember you thanking me a thousand times before you got locked up and not able to speak." April messaged nodding her head with a small, sad smile.

"Oh, Kim's waking up. Get the handcuffs off." Alyx warned.

April quickly got the keys from her bed and unlocked the handcuffs. Kim shifted in her sleep and jolted up in a sitting position. April put the handcuffs behind her back and stood up straight nervously.

"Morning April, you're up early. You're usually the last person to wake up." Kim greeted.

"Well, yeah I couldn't really get any sleep. I had the weirdest dream." April lied.

"Kim trying to kill you ain't a dream, it's a nightmare." April thought.

"Me too. In my dream I was apparently trying to kill you." Kim smiled at the stupid thought. "Funny right because I'd never do that; even if I had super strength or whatever."

April laughed nervously and awkwardly. Kim looked at her weirdly because throughout that short laugh, April had her hands behind her back.

"What's behind your back?"Kim asked, with narrow her eyes.

"Shoot."

"Pffft…nothing." April said.

"I could lie to Kim about being human but I can't lie about handcuffs behind my back." April mentally face palmed.

"Yeah, it's pretty pathetic." Alyx messaged.

"You have something behind your back. What is it?" Kim said standing up.

"I told you nothing. You should change, breakfast is in thirty minutes. I'll go check on the guys." April said used her vampire speed and got out of there.

"Fine then! Don't tell me!" Kim shouted after her.

"Kim, April was just trying to get both of you out of a very awkward conversation."

"Oh, Alyx…"

"Hey, that's mean!"

"What?"

"You just said you hoped I was just apart of the dream."

"I didn't say that."

"Yeah, but you thought it! I'm here to help you. If it wasn't for me, Kevin would've killed you." Alyx told Kim.

"I know, but you said you've been in my brain every since I was thirteen. I'm sorry for being creeped out and hoping you're not real." Kim apologized with sarcasm.

"Don't give me that. April's the one that put me in here. She wanted you to be protected at all times because she knows one day she won't be here to protect you. So she put me in here so I could give you advice in dangerous situations like I did with Kevin. I'm here to help not torment you."

"I know but I'll have to get use to another totally different voice in my head. So what happened to you before you got put into my body." Kim asked walking to the shower.

"Ask April tonight because it's a story time type of thing."

"Ok."

Kim took her shower and changed.

Kim was walking to the mess hall alone until…

"Morning sweetie." In a flash Jack was right by Kim's side and kissed her on the cheek.

Kim blushed. "Morning."

"You look so adorable when you blush." Jack said happily.

That made Kim blush even more. She looked down so Jack won't notice.

"Come on Kim, don't be shy. I won't say anything about."

Kim looked up at him. Suddenly Jack took Kim's hand in his and intertwined their fingers.

"Did I mention how much I care about you? Because honestly if anything happened to you…I don't know what I'd do." Jack said brought Kim's hand up and kissed it.

"Jack, don't worry nothing is going to happen to me. As long as you and April are protecting me, I'll be fine. Alright, honey."

Jack gave her a smile that didn't go to his eyes.

"What's wrong?" Kim stopped walked and turned to Jack.

"You won't be here forever you know. I want to be with you, but I don't want to watch you grow old and then die right in front of me. I'll suffer through it because we'd only have sixty short years left with each other. You'll leave me behind and I don't want that." Jack said softly

Kim frowned.

"If we really do work out…I want to be with you forever." Jack said squeezing Kim's hand.

"Doesn't that sound a little familiar Kim?" Alyx asked.

"Jack…you said that to-"

"Yes, I know but I've changed just like she did. I'm not that cruel soul that wanted to kill and make people's lives a living hell anymore. I'm the old Jack as April would say; the Jack that cares and wouldn't hurt a fly, the Jack that has fallen for you."

Jack leans in for a kiss but Kim let's go of his hand and backed up some. Jack stood there with a hurt expression on his face.

"Jack, how do I know you really changed? How do I know you're not acting? How do I know you won't leave or do things that will make me want to leave? What if I end up like April? Heartbroken; just broken in general."

"Kim…I-I can't make any promises-"

"You can't make any promises?! What the hell is that supposed to mean?!"

"I mean that relationships are like roller coasters. It's going to be a crazy ride especially with a vampire. Things will happen but we'll make it right?"

"But what if we turn out a mess? I mean we just met, we don't know each other. What I've heard about you…you're terrible; you don't care about anything."

Jack was a little hurt by that. "I know. But, Kim, you've got to believe I've changed. I was like that with April because I had just become a vampire. When you turn into a vampire your emotions strengthen. So when ever I got angry or frustrated I put it out her because I didn't know how to control it and she always manged to tick me off with the arguments. I always used to think shut up when she shouted at me, so my vampire side shut her up. I had no control over it. But that-"

"Why didn't you have any control? Didn't you have a mentor, like you were supposed to be for April?"

"No I didn't. My cousin changed me when he found me slowly bleeding out on the ground. Some homeless guy came up and stabbed me a least five times then took all the money I had on me. Luckily, my cousin was in a store a couple minutes away, when he smelled my blood. After Kai changed me, he left and I've never seen him again after that. I never found a mentor because I didn't know about mentors at the time. So I had no control." Jack explained.

"Wait did you say Kai?" Kim asked.

"Yeah."

"I know him. He's a black dragon; we used to be friends before I went to the wasabi dojo. Kai Brewer. That's why your last name was so familiar."

"Are you sure it was him? Dirty blonde, almost my height, and evil smile."

"Yes, that's him."

"Why didn't he attack you?"

"Kim, he's trying to change the subject. Get back to your relationship problem and get it solved already." Alyx said annoyed.

"How do I know you have control over your emotions?"

"Because I've had years to control it and now I have full control."

"Again, I just met you. Can I really trust you?"

"What has gotten into her; asking all these questions. She can trust me." Jack thought.

"Yes, you can Kim. Because I…I-" Jack got interrupted.

"There you are Kim. You had me worried, let's get some breakfast." April had appeared right in front of them.

"Ok." Kim started to walk with April without a problem. Kim glared at Jack before walking away.

Jack just stood there, looking down. He took a deep breath.

"I love you." Jack whispered.

So there's the chapter. And Jack is in love.

Wow, that conversation had a beautiful beginning that turned into an ugly ending.
