ULTIMATE DISCLAIMER IN PROFILE AND CHAPTER 1!
ULTIMATE WARNING IN PROFILE AND CHAPTER 1!
AU, OOC, SLASH.
Hey, guys! Here's the new chapter! Hope you enjoy it!
IMPORTANT!
I decided, since I'm not just writing for my own enjoyment but for the Readers, as well, I will concentrate my updates on my more popular stories. Which means: I'm going to concentrate on this story, since I receive so much Favorite and Alert on it, and Differences In Love, since I receive so much response to it. Hope you understand this! It was a hard decision. This way I won't starve my Readers of their favorite stories (well, except if Missy and Sadie decide to leave me hanging -which they do quite frequently-).
So, with that out of the way, have a good read with this chappy!
PS: I WILL work on my other stories in the meantime, hoping that their popularity will rise once again, like a phoenix from its ashes. *feeling Harry Potter-fanlove overwhelming*
The next couple of days were uneventful. Sam spent all his time in the hospital room, mostly gazing out the window or listening to Dean and Kyle discussing something or another. Even though he was allowed to visit Harry, he was more and more discouraged by the sight of his fragile lover in the bed, still unconscious and unresponsive.
The doctor in charge of the boy's examination was at a loss to know what had happened to the young wizard that had caused him to be in this comatose state for so long. Sam wished his lover would wake up in every single moment he sat through at Harry's bedside. So far his wishes have fallen on deaf ears. The pale fingers in his hold stayed motionless, the eyelids remained closed, hiding the beautiful emeralds behind their veils and the angelic face was lax and unmoving.
Sam was getting more and more depressed as the days had gone by without any changes. He hadn't felt any hunger or thirst, he hadn't felt the need to fall asleep. He hadn't even had the will to live, not without his small lover by his side. He just hoped that Harry will return to him soon… Before he dies from heartbreak…
One morning, as the sun was slowly rising up above the window-frame, Sam heard the tiniest noises he'd ever experienced.
A soft creek.
It was the door opening.
Sam was a little confused. That door was squeaking its protests every time so loudly that Sam was scared it would deafen him permanently. But now it barely made a noise, Sam could only hear it because everything was quiet. He felt his magic automatically begin building up, in case an attack was needed. While inside he was tensing and getting himself ready for a fight, on the outside he willed himself to stay calm and collected, to feign sleep until the right moment.
He felt a presence cautiously close up on him, but no sound of tapping feet reached his ears. So, it seemed he had to rely on his instincts. That shouldn't be a problem. He was ready for the assault at any second…
What he wasn't ready for… was a tender caress on his hair.
Sam's eye shot open at the touch. He would recognize that small hand anywhere… The soft skin that now traveled down his cheek… With growing hope and fear, he turned his head to the newcomer.
"Harry…" he breathed.
Tears gathered in his eyes, dampening the bandage on the inside, as his gaze roamed over the skinny but strong frame of Harry Potter. His curls grew out some, framing his face more securely, although right now they were disheveled from the long sleep. His thin lips were in a tiny smile, as he continued caressing Sam's cheek.
Sam was speechless. His wishes had finally come true… His lover was standing next to him, awake and alive, at last… However, something wasn't quite right with the picture. A frown pulled his eyebrow closer to the bandage. After a brief search on the dear face he realized the problem. Those beautiful orbs he was longing to see… Harry's glittering emeralds were…
"Jade?" he exclaimed in shock. Harry's smile widened at the name, showing small canines, jade-green eyes glittering with innocence, love and mischief. A quiet, soothing purr filled the room, floating out of the boy's body, from deep within his lungs. "Is that you?"
Harry, or more like Jade, nodded. Sam reached up, cupping the boy's cheek, who immediately nuzzled into his palm. When Sam lowered his arm back, Jade jumped up onto the edge of the bed, his feet landing soundlessly, then stretched out next to Sam, burrowing into the young man's side. As soon as he felt the embrace of the other's arms, his purr grew in volume. Closing his eyes, he began kneading Sam's chest lazily, his fingers moving slowly.
Sam hugged the boy-kitten tightly, shedding a couple of tears into the ebony-black curls. Jade squirmed at the wetness on his head, but didn't make any moves of getting away. As the loud purrs vibrated through Sam's body, he felt his emotional turmoil, which had started up at the realization that his lover was still not back with him, begin to ease up then calm down. He breathed in the familiar scent of Harry, glad that this would never change, no matter who's mind will be at the wheel. He felt Jade turning his head up, sticking his nose into the crook of his neck then inhale deeply, as if he was storing Sam's scent away.
Sam tenderly stroked a hand down Jade's back, who arched into his hand in pleasure. Chuckling, he lifted his hand up to comb through the black curls, scratching lightly at the boy's scalp. The kneading on his chest slowed even more, as Harry's body unwound completely, his whole weight leaning into Sam's side.
They spent the morning like that, just enjoying each other's presence and Jade basking in the attention he was receiving from Sam. However, when the door opened, Jade jumped up into a crouch and turned to the newcomer with a ferocious hiss. Sam instantly laid a hand on his back to prevent any bloodshed then looked towards the door.
Dean was standing on the threshold, his eyes slightly wide mostly from surprise to see Harry awake and some shock at the boy's unusual behavior. When he recovered, he stepped closer with his hands held high.
"It's alright, Jade" he spoke, causing Sam to snatch his gaze at him. He never would've thought that Dean could assess a situation so quickly. "You remember me? I'm Dean."
Jade tilted his head like he was thinking then slid off the bed and stepped closer to the man, looking him over again and again. His nostrils flared as he sniffed at the air. Dean all the while remained motionless, trying to look as harmless as possible. Finally, Jade grinned and jumped into Dean's arms, who embraced him without hesitation. He heard a deep inhale at the crook of his neck and knew that Jade was memorizing his scent. When the boy pulled away, he couldn't help but ruffle the black hair, scraping his nails on the boy's scalp once. Jade purred in delight.
Sam had a sad smile on his face at the scene that just played in front of him, but a movement caught his attention. He realized what was it and his heart sank in fear. As Kyle stepped out from behind Dean, his face was drawn into a confused frown, but he was cautious, understanding the events that took place.
Jade flinched as another person stepped out into his line of sight and tensed up, not recognizing the scent. His jade-green eyes narrowed in suspicion then he walked in front of the older boy, getting into his face to intimidate him. When he leaned forward to look at him closer, the boy leaned back instinctively. Jade had his eyes narrowed, roaming over the unknown features carefully.
Sam and Dean watched the two boys warily: Sam was afraid Jade would do something regrettable, while Dean was scared for Kyle. They didn't dare to utter out a sound, not wanting to trigger something.
Long, long seconds passed by in the tense silence as Jade and Kyle stared at each other, jade orbs glaring daggers into wide turquoise ones. When the brothers couldn't take the silence anymore, Jade surprised everyone by jumping onto Kyle and hugging the life out of him. Kyle grabbed him out of reflex, wrapping his arms around the boy's torso, before he broke out of his shock and returned the gesture with every amount of strength he got. Jade memorized his scent, too, before nuzzling the older boy with a purr.
When greetings were over, Jade was back in his place in Sam's arms, continuing his incessant purring and kneading. The others watched him with adoring smiles on their faces.
"But what happened?" Dean asked, turning to his brother.
"I dunno" Sam shrugged, his eyes never leaving the peaceful look on Jade's face. "He just came to me like this."
"And what about Harry?" Kyle interjected worriedly. He didn't miss the gathering tears in Sam's uncovered eye, before they were blinked away.
"Dunno" Sam mumbled. All of a sudden Jade sat up and let out a quiet meow. "What is it, little Jade?" Sam asked, caressing the boy's cheek. Jade just let out a series of meows that made the three of them frown.
"I don't understand…" Sam shook his head confused. Jade let out a frustrated growl. "You understand us?" Sam asked, getting a nod and a meow as a reply.
"What is it, Sammy?" Dean asked, seeing the contemplating look on Sam's face.
"Dean, is my laptop still in the car?" Sam asked, ignoring the question. When the older man nodded, he continued. "Could you bring it up here?"
Dean's face seemed to light up in understanding and he hurried out of the room.
"So, how are you doing?" Kyle asked, stepping closer. Sam averted his gaze from the boy's and the worry directed to him.
"I'm fine" he replied. "It hurts a little, but not as much…"
"Sam" Kyle interrupted with a sigh, surprising the young man. When Sam looked up, he met with a look that said: 'Cut the crap!' "You're as convincing to me as Dean. You should know that… a good acquaintance…"
"Or a good friend…" Sam interjected, noticing the slight pause. Kyle sent him a grateful smile then continued:
"Or a good friend notices your physical well-being in a blink of an eye. They just need to look at you to know. So when I ask 'How are you doing?', you know what I want to find out. Right?" Sam sighed at the meaningful and determined look he got and decided to tell the truth.
"Ok, so I'm disappointed."
"But why?" Kyle asked confused. "Everyone's okay…"
"Not everyone" as Sam said this, he stroked Harry's ebony curls. Jade just looked at him sadly, realizing what was wrong.
"Sam, I'm sure Harry is fine" Kyle tried to convince him, but he wasn't so certain either.
"I just miss him so much" Sam choked out then bit his lip to stop his tears before they escaped. Jade instantly lay back into his place, molding himself to Sam's side, purring to soothe the young man. Sam tightened his hold on the boy's shoulders for a moment.
"Everything will be alright" Kyle said firmly, but his hand was gentle as he caressed Sam's locks. Sam nodded, but he still had a dejected look in his uncovered eye.
The tensing of Harry's body didn't avoid Kyle's sight. When he stepped away, he met with narrowed jade-green eyes boring into his. Out of the blue, Jade lifted his head up and licked at Sam's jaw, just with the tip of his tongue, all the while keeping eye-contact with Kyle.
Kyle smirked at the scene: Harry's boyish face was so open at that moment that if Jade could've spoken then he would've been screaming by now: 'HE'S MINE, YOU BITCH!' For some unknown reason, this move and look awoke a flaming, intense feeling in the pit of his stomach. He'd never known what it was and he'd only felt it once in his life.
Right at that moment, Dean returned with the laptop bag, putting it onto Sam's lap. Both of them were oblivious to what was happening. But not for long, Kyle thought.
As Dean stepped next to him, Kyle grabbed the collar of his leather jacket and yanked the man down into a hard kiss. Dean's eyes widened momentarily before they closed. Two strong arms wrapped around a slim waist, tongues battled with each other, hands fisted clothing and hair. The kiss went on for almost a minute, before Kyle pulled away, both of them breathing hard and Dean with a dazed look, frozen from shock and arousal. Pinning his flashing blue eyes onto jade orbs, Kyle cupped Dean's cheek tenderly and licked at the man's jaw with the tip of his tongue. At that, Jade looked satisfied and relaxed.
Sam watched the sudden make-out of his friend and his brother a little puzzled. He felt the small lick Jade had given him, but he thought it was just something to do with the affection of a kitten. However, as Kyle did the same to Dean with that wild look in his eyes… It had a possessive feeling to it…
Jade resumed his purring, smiling like the cat that got the cream. He watched as Kyle – his scent gave his name away – buried himself into Dean's side, who instinctively wrapped his arms around him. The boy looked content, eyes closed and breathing deeply. Jade knew perfectly what it felt like to be in the arms of your mate, feeling the same when he felt Sammy's loving embrace around him.
With a clear of his throat, Sam fumbled with his laptop, opening it. With a few taps on the touchpad, an empty document was opened and Sam turned the laptop towards Jade. As he began sitting up into a reclining position, Jade lifted the laptop and Dean stepped closer to help his brother. After that, Jade lowered the computer back onto Sam's lap and burrowed himself into Sam's side.
"Alright" Sam started. "So, you can understand us?"
Jade grinned brightly, as he understood what Sam wanted him to do, and he reached out towards the keyboard. With some uncertainty, the following word appeared on the empty page:
yes.
"Okay" Sam nodded, glancing at Jade, who looked proud of himself. "Can you tell us what happened?" Jade looked puzzled at that then returned to the computer.
what exactly.
Dean and Kyle frowned at the two words, not understanding what they meant, but Sam answered instantly:
"How come you're here instead of… Harry?" he had to swallow at his lover's name, wanting to avoid the tears of pain. Jade's eyes lit up.
im part of harry.
"'Part of'?" Sam read out loud a little confused.
im animal side.
"Harry has an animal side?" Dean spoke. Jade nodded before typing again:
harry animegus.
The others frowned at the strange word, but they noticed the slight increase of hesitancy as Jade typed it in.
"'Animegus'?" Sam mumbled, mostly to himself. "What does that…?"
"Do you mean 'Animagus'?" Kyle asked suddenly, turning to Jade. "With an 'a'?" Jade nodded his head enthusiastically, a bright smile firmly in place.
"What's an Animagus?" Dean spoke confused.
"A wizard or a witch, who can turn into an animal at will" Sam explained quickly, before turning back to Jade. "So Harry is an Animagus?" Jade nodded eagerly then slowly continued typing, his hesitancy increasing:
not intentionally.
"But how could that happen?" Sam asked. "I thought it takes years to learn the art of transforming. Has Harry studied it?" Jade shook his head sadly. "Then how?"
harry was in grave danger. wished for safe place. happened not intentionally.
"That's why he appeared as a cat at our motel" Dean concluded silently. Sam wiped at his face, not letting the tears flow. He remembered Harry's tale the boy had revealed on that night. How a drunkard had started dragging him off and wanted to… Sam swallowed, thankful for Harry's magic that brought the boy here, to safety… to Sam…
"What's wrong with Harry now?" Kyle spoke up, letting the brothers sort out their thoughts. "Why hasn't he woken up yet?" Jade just got sadder at the question and a little reluctance appeared in his movements as he reached out to type:
scared.
"Scared? Of what?" Sam asked, calmer now.
many things. if he wakes he gets hurt. he back in London and streets. he lost everything. but mostly he lost sam.
As those words appeared, Jade turned to Sam, tears glinting in his eyes. When he noticed the telltale glitter in the hazel-green gaze, Jade leaned in and pressed a tiny, soft kiss onto the corner of the man's mouth. Sam felt himself crumble at the touch and his emotions broke out of him in the form of tears. He tightened his hold on Jade, burying the uncovered half of his face into the small shoulder. The laptop was lifted up from his lap and a few seconds later the door of his room closed quietly. Knowing he was alone with Jade, he released his hold on his sobs that tumbled out, almost stealing his breath away with the force. A small hand petted his brown locks and a soft purr filled his ears, attempting to soothe him. However, he had to let everything out. His body wouldn't allow him to relax until his very soul was poured out.
"I'm sorry" he choked out, clinging onto the small frame in his embrace. "I'm so sorry… I'm still here, I want him with me… I'm not alright, I need him to make me better… Please, help me get him back, please… I'm begging you… I love him…"
The lithe arms around him tightened in reply and a silent meow interrupted the constant purr for a moment. Sam knew then that Jade would do everything to reunite the two lovers, no matter the cost.
As the end of visiting hours approached, Dean and Kyle said goodbye to Sam and Jade. Dean left with the knowledge that his brother was in good, capable hands and under watchful, jade-green eyes. When he met with Dr. Jeffries, he asked him to call if anything happens to Sam or Harry. The doctor gave his word to do just that if the possibility arises.
Reaching Bobby's house, the Impala finally returning into the yard, the pair told the older man everything that happened in the hospital. A little bewildered look sneaked onto Bobby's face when he heard about Harry.
"So, you're saying" he started slowly, trying to understand it correctly, "that Harry is an Animagus, and his animal side took the wheel for now, until it's safe for him to return?" Dean and Kyle nodded grimly. The rest of the evening passed without another word exchanged. Only when night arrived and they were getting ready to go to bed, did they wish each other a good night.
Harsh trills cut through the thick darkness and silence of the room and Dean's mind. He groggily looked up and glanced at the clock, the red numbers the only source of light:
3:34
With a groan, Dean wiped at his face to remove the traces of sleep. He slid out from under Kyle's relaxed body that began tensing up as the boy returned to the land of the living with a moan. Dean snatched the phone up from the nightstand and squinted at its screen. The phone number was unfamiliar to him. He answered the call with a shrug.
"Hello?" his voice was hoarse from deep sleep.
"Dean? Dr. Jeffries here" the doctor sounded slightly worried. "You asked me to call you if anything happens." At those words, Dean woke up instantly and shot up from the bed.
"What happened?" he asked, alert in a moment's notice. Kyle was watching him in concern, more awake than ever.
"You must come back to the hospital ASAP!" It sounded like Dr. Jeffries wanted to say something else, but a voice cut him off. Dean's blood ran cold. He would recognize that sound anywhere.
It was a choked cry of pain.
It was Sam's choked cry of pain.
"I'm going" he barked out and snapping the phone shut he jumped out of bed.
"Trouble?" Kyle asked quietly, when Dean began to throw his clothes on hurriedly.
"Big one" As Dean tied his boots, he saw Kyle dressing up quickly. By the time he stood up and walked to the door, the boy was right behind him. Without waking Bobby up, they hurried down to the Impala. The car soon roared to life and made a U-turn with screeching tires. The trip to the hospital was made in minutes.
Ignoring the receptionist, Dean took off towards his brother's room, hoping that Kyle can deal with the nurse. He fleetingly heard the boy's voice behind him drifting away, which meant that Kyle stopped to explain their situation. Dean slid to a halt in front of his brother's door, where he heard the choked cry, muffled by the hard surface. Dean burst into the room and quickly took in the sight.
Sam was lying on his bed, the blanket that had covered his legs the last time Dean'd seen him was thrown to the floor. The young man's skin was flushed red all over his body and sweat glued the hospital gown and the brown locks onto him, the bandages completely damp from it. Jade was in a corner watching with wide, terrified eyes the younger Winchester, who was shaking so hard, his upper body was repeatedly hitting the mattress under him as his muscles contracted wildly. One hand was clawing at the plastic encasing his leg, while the other fisted the sheet on the bed.
Dean was startled out of his momentary shock by another cry coming from Sam, who snatched his fisted hand up, letting the sheet go, and began clawing at his face. Dean jumped forward right away and grabbed his brother's wrist to prevent any serious damage. As he touched the flushed skin, he hissed softly at the heat pouring out of it.
Sam was having a fever.
Looking up, Dean found Kyle next to Jade, who was still staring at Sam, clinging to the newly-found comfort the other boy supplied, and Dr. Jeffries was standing next to him with a bowl of water in his hands and a hand-towel draped over his arm. Dean quickly took the bowl and placed it onto the nightstand. Grabbing the towel held out for him, he wetted the soft material and began wiping at Sam's face. Sam flinched away violently from the cold, a whine full of pain breaking out of him. Dean shushed him gently, cooling his brother diligently, talking to him in hope that Sam would hear him and calm down. He knew it was futile the moment Sam's body convulsed, tearing another cry out of the young man.
Kyle watched with dread as his friend suffered from fever. He was holding Jade, who had burrowed into him, eyes wide like a kitten's that met something unknown. Harry's body was shaking in fear, the slight shudders wracking the thin form, and breaking Kyle's heart more and more. He wished he could do something, but he was only able to pray for some miracle to help Sam.
"Shshshh, Jade, it's gonna be alright" he whispered when a meek mew reached his ears. Another shudder ran through Jade then something unexpected happened.
"Sam…"
Kyle's eyes widened. That voice… He carefully pushed Jade away, not wanting him to think that he wanted to let him go and sure enough: emeralds were pinned onto Sam's convulsing form instead of jades.
"Harry…" Kyle breathed sadly. Why? Why did Harry have to come out of his shell at a time like this? When his lover was suffering from something they didn't know about? Kyle cursed inwardly at this cruelty. When emerald orbs melted into jade crystals again, Kyle pulled Jade back into his arms. After a few moments, though, Jade let out a firm meow and pulled away.
"What is it, Jade?" Kyle asked cautiously. Jade looked at Kyle then at Sam then back to Kyle pleadingly. The request was perfectly clear:
'Let me go there!'
Kyle nodded and lowered his arms and Jade dashed to the side of the bed. Dean looked up from his work questioningly, but when Jade held out a hand, the look turned into a frown. Jade shook his hand impatiently, gazing at the wet towel in Dean's hold. Dean handed it over, his confusion growing when Jade began peeling the bandage off of Sam's face. Dr. Jeffries quickly jumped forward and took over.
In a few seconds, the blisters on Sam's face were uncovered, wrenching shocked gasps out of the others: the burn was angry red, darker than Sam's skin that was flushed from fever. Jade folded the wet towel in two and gently laid it onto the blisters. Sam jerked with a tortured moan as the cold water touched the flaming hot burn. Jade held the towel there and looked up at the others. With a meow he pointed at the towel then at Sam's plastic-covered leg.
One last meow sprang the others into action: Dr. Jeffries ran into the room's bathroom to retrieve another towel and gave it to Dean, who wetted it and looked at Jade, silently asking where to put it. Jade pointed to the upper-thigh, just above the plastic. Dean obeyed the silent order, tenderly placing the cold, wet towel to the correct place.
Agonizing minutes passed by, Jade constantly rewetting the towel cooling the blisters on Sam's face, while Dean did the same with the one on Sam's thigh. They worked monotonously, ignoring everything around them. Dr. Jeffries, seeing how his patient was in good hands, left them alone, telling Kyle to call him if anything was needed. Kyle was watching the two working on Sam, feeling ashamed for being useless in this situation.
Soon Sam's spasms died down, decreasing to shivers, but the young man was still awake although barely coherent. Dean tried every technique that he had used back when they were kids, but the usually effective methods failed this time, their only success being the slight drop of shivers. No matter how much he was speaking to him or what he said, Sam wasn't able to go to sleep, just staring up at the ceiling and whimpering now and then.
Jade looked close to tears in frustration, when Dean checked the young man's temperature and declared that it stopped going down, still close to the dangerous territory.
"Jade" Kyle stepped forward, an idea playing in his mind for a while now. Jade looked at him, desperate for any solution that could help Sam. "He needs him." Understanding flashed across the space between the two boys then Jade turned to Sam, who was still whimpering almost pleadingly. "There's no other way."
Dean watched in awe, surprised by such a soft tone out of his lover's mouth. It was the same tone Kyle used when Dean had confessed about his feelings, just before they got together. That sweet but firm, believable tone of Kyle's …
Jade suddenly jumped up onto Sam's bed, careful not to disturb the young man, and curled around Sam, trying to comfort him and himself at the same time. He closed his eyes and a small frown of concentration creased his forehead. After moments of tense silence, Jade took a deep breath…
…and the most angelic melody began vibrating through his body that the others had ever heard. Dean, however, recognized the strong melody floating through the air: it was the same Arabian tune that Harry had hummed on the afternoon when they had gotten rid of Sam's demonic side. The effect of that little melody had been instantaneous: Sam, who had been getting upset from the lack of demon blood, thanks to his addiction, had immediately calmed down.
It was no different now: with a sigh Sam relaxed, almost undetectable shudders running through his body, as he fell asleep at last. The frown remained on Jade's forehead and his eyes stayed closed. Dean and Kyle knew that Jade was channeling Harry, combining their strength and love towards Sam to help the sick man to sleep. Dean pressed a soft kiss onto Sam's clammy forehead, brushing away the damp bangs and rearranging the towels. He whispered a 'thank you' into Jade's ear then waited for Kyle to say his own goodbye to his friends before leaving the lovers in peace and returning home to sleep. They had to come back full of strength the next day.
A flinch ran through his body, as the chirps caused a spike of pain in his fuzzy head. Luckily, the birds' harsh songs were soon silenced, just before a soft creak of the window's handle. Now, only a low hum was echoing in the room, soothing his mind somewhat.
Sam felt numb. His whole body was exhausted, his limbs heavy, and his skin was engulfed by the flames of aching fatigue. Faint tremors rushed up and down his body, not just because of his muscles' overexertion, but the sweat slowly dripping down his skin, landing on the sheets under him. He couldn't find the strength to open his eyes and look around. He barely had the energy to remember what'd happened. His mind could only function enough to realize that there was a semi-dry towel on his face.
Suddenly a small hand lay onto his head, brushing his hair soothingly. Sam would recognize that touch anywhere and anytime, even with how drained he was.
"Harry…" he forced out, his voice cracking and broken, hoarse from… screaming? The mattress dipped next to him and another hand stroked his cheek, keeping him calm. "Harry…" this time wasn't much better. A small finger touched his lips, silencing him then a forehead nuzzled Sam's, giving all the comfort its owner had. A straw was held up to his mouth, and Sam gratefully welcomed the cool gulps of water that washed the desert out of his throat. Finally, as the straw was pulled away, Sam willed himself to open his eyes.
After a weak flutter, a hazy image of a black-haired, pale-skinned beauty was revealed in front of him. He let out a whimper full of hope, but as he blinked, jade-green eyes materialized among the foggy features. In that moment he remembered Jade being with him instead of Harry. A couple tears rolled down his cheek, but a smile sneaked onto his lips involuntarily. Now the soft purr reached his ears, as well, filling him with peace and memories of a small black kitten, eyes glinting mischievously.
"Jade…" he breathed and he got a meek mew as a reply. The towel was taken off his face and fingers brushed at his damp forehead. After a sigh, Jade pressed a kiss onto Sam's lips, brushing at the uninjured cheek, wiping away the traces of the man's tears. As they separated, Sam's vision cleared somewhat. Opening his eyes, he felt the slight pull of his burnt eyelid whose edge stuck closed from the knife's blade. He shuddered at the picture he had seen when he had taken a look at his blistered face.
Suddenly the low hum in the background grew in volume. Sam must have drifted away in his thoughts, because now he was reclining against Jade, his head on the boy's shoulder, and his laptop was perched on Jade's lap, an empty document opened with the following sentence written in it:
How do you feel?
Sam was a little surprised at that. Last time – was it yesterday? – Jade couldn't write very well, but now he managed a full, sensible sentence. Just as he wondered how the kitten learned to type so fast, another sentence appeared on the screen:
Harry helped me.
Sam nodded then answered the question:
"I'm better… somewhat…" After a sigh, he continued:
"What happened?"
Jade began typing quickly, careful not to jostle Sam in the process.
Last night you had a fever. You were very close to serious danger. Thank Merlin that you're alright now. Dean and I helped you and
"I remember now" Sam interrupted, since he was reading along. "Everything hurt, especially my face and my leg…"
Your magic tried to heal your bone, but the dark magic that had been used with that knife clashed with it. That's why your temperature spiked. Plus you were agitated and that didn't help the situation.
"And?" Jade let out a questioning meow at Sam's inquiry. "You started writing there" Sam pointed at the screen with a shaky finger, "but I cut you off. Sorry…"
Jade hesitated a bit, but after a mild inward battle, he began typing:
Harry came forth to help us calm you down.
Sam gasped against a sob when he read the sentence. Jade wrapped an arm around his shoulders, pulling him closer like that, and started purring again. Sam shook from the amount of willpower to force his sobs back and he buried the uninjured half of his face into Jade's neck.
"Is he alright?" Sam asked, fearing the answer. Jade's reply came slower, since he was using one hand now:
He's closer.
Sam's body went limp at that as relief washed over his troubled mind. His eyelids fell closed almost instantly, and he was pulled down into the darkness of sleep by exhaustion, the small arms staying around him, holding him together after the trials they had to survive.
TBC
So, how was it? Did you like that little possessiveness in there? :D
Hope you don't mind my decision about my stories!
I know there was a poll mentioned in my other stories (if anyone noticed it at all), but I deleted it. I reached a decision during the wait so it's not relevant now. I'm a cat-person myself, so this story will be feline-centered, unlike the dog-centered Puppy Love or the wolf-centered Under The Moonlight series.
So, enough rambling! I'm sure you're sick of it by now. :)
Please Read and Review!
See you at the next chapter!
