Chapter 16

"Kim, you alright?" April asked worried.

"Yeah, why?"

"Well, you look sad and you've just been poking at your eggs the whole time. And I can't read your mind because Alyx blocked me out."

"I'm ok, don't worry." Kim said with a fake smile.

"No, you aren't. What happened?"

"Nothing."

"Again with the nothing." April thought.

"It's not nothing. Kim you haven't eaten and when you don't eat you're sad."

Kim got up and took her tray with her. She sat down at another table away from April.

"I want to tell her, but she'll just shout at me making me feel worse." Kim thought.

"I know. I'm sorry." Alyx said.

Kim shook her head and went back to poking at her food.

"Can I trust him?" Kim thought frowning.

"Is it something I said? Wait, Kim and Jack were walking together. Is it something Jack said?" April though.

Anger coursed through her veins. She hissed under her breath.

On cue Jack pulled up a chair and sat across from April. He was frowning.

"Where's everybody?" He muttered.

"Well, Jerry and Milton are getting their food and Kim is over there. She's really sad; she looks like she'd cry any minute. So, I have a question. Why are you all sad, like her?"

"No reason." Jack answered.

"What the hell did you say to her?" April asked him.

"I didn't say anything. She started it with all the stupid questions." Jack blurted out.

He didn't want to take the blame for this one.

"What questions?" April asked.

"She wanted to know more about my relationship with you and I might have gone a little over broad when I got annoyed." Jack lied.

"But I told her all about our relationship, she shouldn't have anymore questions." April said confused.

"You what?!" Jack exclaimed, with fake surprise. He got up and April stood up too.

He already knew about April's little story time to answer Kim's questions.

"I told her about our relationship."

"That's my personal life too you know! You can't just blurt that type of stuff out! You didn't even ask me permission to tell her. Now she thinks I'm a bastard!" Jack started to act dramatic to catch April off guard.

"But the thing is you are a bastard!" April shouted right back at him.

Everybody in the cafeteria turned and looked at them.

"I'm getting tired of you calling me that! I'm not a bastard! You didn't even let her hear my side of the story! Heck, you haven't even heard my side of the story!"

"Yes, I have! You told me yesterday remember! You claimed that you loved me, but you didn't want to believe it!" April shouted.

Everyone said "ooo!"

"That's just messed up." A random girl said.

"Yeah, show that girl you love her!" A guy said.

Jack and April looked at them with confused faces. All of the people in the cafeteria just look at them like go on. Then Jack and April look at each other. They chuckle a little.

"Me, kiss him." April started to burst out laughing.

Jack did the same.

"Yeah, that's not going to happen." Jack said between laughs.

"Kiss her, kiss her, kiss her…" Everyone started chanting.

Kim was looking at the whole thing. She was already sad; if this happened it's just going to make things even worse for her.

"Please don't." Kim thought to herself.

"No." Both them said to the crowd.

They didn't listen and kept chanting.

"Don't be a wimp!"

"Where are the damn camp counselors?" April thought.

"You know if they don't stop chanting I'll kill'em." Jack thought closing his eye, trying to calm himself down.

"I know me too." April messaged back, getting annoyed.

"If we want them to stop we have to." Jack said quietly, looking down and feeling guilty already.

"No, let's get the camp counselors." April said.

"Don't you see them in the crowd? They're chanting too. They're not going to stop this. And you know damn well if they keep chanting we're going to angry and when vampires get angry it's not pretty. Your eyes are changing color right now." Jack whispered.

"I know your eyes are changing too."

Jack looked over his shoulder toward Kim. She looked back at him with pleading eyes.

"Kim, April and I are going to lose control if they don't stop. And if we walk away from it they'll bug us for the rest of the summer. We'd eventually kill someone." Jack messaged Kim.

"You could resist it…right?" Kim messaged him.

"If April can't, I can't. I have a shorter temper than her."

Kim frowned and nodded. "Go ahead I won't look." She then looked down.

Jack turned back to April, who was getting more and more annoyed by the second. Her eyes turned red already.

"April calm down."

"If I hear one more kiss her…"

"A quick one two three and we're done."

April nodded.

Jack and April leaned in and kissed. The crowd clapped and said "Aww."

"ONE, TWO, THERE!"

They both quickly pulled away.

Then everybody went back to what they were doing like nothing happened. Kim got up, threw away her food, and walked out the mess hall.

"Sure I gave permission, but it still hurts." Kim thought walking to the cabin.

"Jack, I need time to myself don't follow." Kim messaged and Jack obeyed.

"How are they just supposed to do that? Make us kiss and just act like nothing happened." Jack complained sitting down.

April does the same and stayed silent.

"What, does my breath stink? Are my lips chapped?" Jack asked, checking his breath and feeling on his lips.

April narrowed her eyes at him like you're an idiot.

"No, it's not that. It's just…weird."

"My lips feel weird!" Jack exclaimed horrified.

"I kissed Kim with these lips." Jack thought to himself as he started touch his lips.

"No, Jack it's not about your lips. It's just that…there was…nothing." April said quietly.

"I know…I thought that maybe…"

"Just a little bit…"

"Yeah, just a tiny little spark."

"Was it me? Or…"

"No, it was you leaving."

April nodded. "Nothing…"

"Nothing…" Jack repeated.

Awkward silence invaded the air.

"So…how were the last couple of centuries been for you?" April asked awkwardly.

"Good, good. I got to meet John F. Kennedy once…he was a great man. Oh and I took that idea from you and became an actor/model for a year. But then I staged my own death." Jack said nodding his head slowly.

"Wow. What…what movies were you in? I…never really heard of you being an actor and all."

"I was in one of Shirley Temple's movies Kiss and Tell. Oh Shirley…" Jack said smiling.

"Why are you…" April's eyes widen. "I'm sorry but…did you hit that?" April whispered.

"Yes. I. Did."

"Jack, she was seventeen and married."

"Well, it wasn't illegal back than. And she came on to me. Also it wasn't like she knew I'm hundreds of years old."

"She came on to you?"

"Hey, it's just apart of the Jack factor." He said cockily.

April rolled her eyes. "But she was married."

"Yeah, she couldn't resist. Why do you think she got the divorce? Agar found out like a year later and demanded one."

"Wow…ok. Anything else? Oh, how was modeling?" April asked.

"Funish. Back then you know they went a little heavy on hair gel. But on the up side I did meet a lot of women." Jack said smiling once more.

"How many did you hit?"

"Only five, don't worry."

"You're lucky vampires are immune to disease."

"Yes, I am. So, what about you?"

"Oh…well, I was a runaway slave before Lincoln was president…so what do you think I did?"

"Hiding; going to a vampire club or something."

"Exactly."

"Wait I didn't finish." Jack said

"Go on." April sighed.

"Getting laid just to find a place to stay. I know you've been laid by another vampire other than me. Vampires tend to get a lot more sexual than humans."

"Yes, I have been laid by other vampires…wait a minute did you just define me as a hoe?"

"No, I was…"

"Just shut up."

"Hey, have you ever woken up in a bed naked and the person next to you is extreme ugly? And you don't remember what you did. Because that happened to me like twice." Jack said looking down.

"No, because unlike you I don't get wasted and have sex."

Jack raised his eyebrow. April inhaled.

"Fine, one morning I wake up next to a woman and we're both naked. The worst part was when she woke up. She kept kissing on me and saying things in Spanish."

Jack laughed."You got freaky with a lesbian and you don't even remember." He said giggling.

"At least my girl wasn't ugly." April said.

Jack fell silent.

"Mmhm stay silent."

A terrifying scream rang through Jack and April's ears. They both shuttered and covered their ears. Their ears were ringing from the high pitch scream. They both looked around and it seemed like they were the only ones to hear it. Jack sniffed.

"I can't smell Kim, Jerry, or Milton." Jack said worried.

"Oh no." April said.

April and Jack both get up and rush for the door. Eric stood in front of the door before they got out.

"Where do you think you're going?" Eric asked.

"Our cabins, we forgot something." Jack said.

"Well, that's too bad because our next activity is in here. So, go back to your seats."

"No." April growled.

She's protected Kim every since Kim was born, she wasn't going to let a human get in her way.

"No? So, you want kitchen duty again?"

"Get out of the way." April growled again.

"Go back to your seats."

"No. Get out our way before we hurt you." Jack joined in.

April and Jack's eyes turned red and their fangs came out.

"Finally, you've revealed yourselves."

They both give Eric a confused look. His eyes turned red too and his fangs appeared too.

"Wow, didn't see that coming." April and Jack thought.
