When Worlds Collide

Mt. Chimney continued to spew heavy bowels of smoke into the air as ashclouds continued to fall upon Fallabor Town. Damon had left the volcano through the heated jungle surrounding, completely burnt with his body steadily repairing himself. The Red Chain continued to guide him onwards but he had grown more anxious with panic ridden throughout his body. His death was inevitable with this power, a curse set upon him and now he understood why Giovanni continued to hunt down Blue and Red. Red survived the onslaught of the Red Chain because of something Blue did, the answers remained unclear but his future now remained perfectly formed in his mind. He never wanted to be in this situation, but The Light had enforced it upon him, using him as the secret agent to infiltrate Team Rocket and the Thieves Guild.

He had done everything he can to convince Giovanni of his loyalty and succeeded to such an extent where the Red Chain was entrusted to him. But he had no idea of the consequences of this, it had now completely ruined him and now revenge was on the cards. The Light were forming to attack the Thieves Guild in Mauville City, only a few hours walk from the volcano, and Damon would be there in a completely different form. Cynthia, Gary and whoever else would now suffer the consequences of this affliction, and once they were gone, Blue would be the only target left to find.

Damon walked quickly in the steady moonlight, curiously seeing signs of smoke in the sky from further south, something had happened in Slateport City. Squinting, he saw complete darkness in the town, had the Thieves Guild already taken over New Mauville? Picking up his pace, Damon grabbed a Pokeball from his pocket and threw it high into the air as he growled, "Skarmory, we need to move fast, Extremespeed!"

Damon dived onto the Armor Bird Pokemon as it screeched loudly before flashing brightly and moving through the sky at an incredible speed. The war was soon going to begin, and Damon was going to truly end it.

Rod saw a bright flash nearby the ever smoking Mt. Chimney but it had vanished in a matter of seconds as his bruised body was shoved to one side. Norman had gone further to make sure they were under his control as he had forced them into the Slateport City Lighthouse and stripped them clean of their Pokemon. Hearing the familiar door slam behind, Forrest and Rod were led upstairs by a troop of Slaking, the Lazy Pokemon growling angrily whenever they slowed down. They were not able to move in any way, and Norman continued to watch them from behind with focused eyes that sensed danger and pure confidence.

Norman spoke softly as they reached the top, by passing the prisoners and Pokemon, "Let's return the power first, and then I'll tell you how things are going to work."

The Petalburg Gym Leader flipped a lever in the far corner as the hum of electricity was immediately heard in the chamber. Steadily, the large light in the Lighthouse began to flash into life and point into the Hoenn seas, Slateport City returned into its bright state once again. Rod took no notice, however, as he stared furiously at Norman still shocked at his change of attitude. Something must have happened to push him over the line, but Rod had no idea. Forrest looked at them both with anxiety in his eyes, but even he knew right now there would be no opportunity to escape just yet.

Norman placed their Pokeballs onto the ground towards the far corner of the chamber before whirling around and beckoning, "You both need to understand the threat being posed at the moment. You are targets, you are dangerous and I am sick of babysitting a bunch of victims."

Shaking his head, Rod tried to move before the Slaking nearby growled and crushed his arms further, "Norman, what has happened? Things changed so fast!"

Forrest nodded, agreeing and spoke, "Is there something happening that we do not know about, Norman?"

Both Gym Leaders made eye contact as Norman brushed his dark hair aside before responding, "A war is about to break out here in Hoenn, and it is not going to be pretty. The Thieves Guild and The Light are both ready to attack, no mercy will be shown and I am not going to let more of this region get tainted by this." Rod attempted to protest, but Norman continued, "You both are not leaving the Lighthouse until this is over, I will not be responsible for any of this. Things used to be easy before Cynthia showed up, I used to battle trainers and explore. They changed things…RUINED things."

"Things will return to normal, Norman." Forrest spoke calmly, trying to cool the situation down.

"You both know nothing. Slaking, put them aside and make sure they don't move. I have to report back to the Pokemon Centre."

Norman left quickly, not even looking at them as the Lazy Pokemon growled at their commands and shoved the trainers to one side with Rod wincing in pain. There was no way they could reach their Pokeballs, and the Slaking were too strong to escape from. Rod felt a feeling of failure take over his body at the thought of Emma and now the subsequent approach of a war occurring in Hoenn. What did Norman mean, and was he sure he was correct?

The Grimer and Muk had begun to swarm around a deserted Mauville City as the Thieves Guild started to realize something was wrong. The civilians had been successfully evacuated as well as the Pokemon in the Pokemon Centre with Verdanturf Town being the temporary location. Officer Jenny had been ordered to leave along with her forces, The Light taking precedence over any rule she had. The hope was that Mauville would still remain standing through it all, Cynthia's idea of a non-bloodshed fight completely differing from Gary Oak's.

The fleet of Pokemon Rangers scattered around the large city as they commanded the Poison Type Pokemon to begin the chaos, releasing fumes of gas and haze into the city centre. Agent Proton dashed out of his headquarters coughing, his somewhat relaxed night being completely ruined. His grunts followed soon after trying to fend off the heavy gas from the area as Proton bellowed, "So The Light have decided to show up! Hilarious!"

Mauville City Centre eventually returned to normal, the haze lifting into the sky as dozens of Grimer and Muk screeched before disappearing into the sewers below. Proton smiled, adjusting his dark uniform before taking a few step forwards and calling again, "Your tactics are useless, we know what you want!"

A flash of light appeared from high above as a silhouette covered the moon, darkened clouds beginning to form in the distance, as the roar of a Pokemon appeared. Smiling, Proton ushered his grunts forwards as they whipped out Pokeballs and hurled them into the air. Exploding into life, several Houndoom appeared releasing fiery embers into the area. The Dark Pokemon immediately began to surround the area just as a large Pokemon landed from above. Perched perfectly on two legs, the Pokemon screeched and spun around acrobatically releasing electrical sparks as it moved.

Proton ignored it all and instead raised a transceiver from his pocket and muttered, "Shut the lights in 10 minutes, The Light have arrived."

A Gallade had appeared between all the Houndoom, the Blade Pokemon whirling around with fantastic skill aiming Low Kicks at the surrounding Dark Pokemon. The Houndoom replied collectively with Flamethrowers as the Gallade was forced into evasive maneuvers. As the flames died down, a female voice called into the area, "Proton, I think it's time we had a chat."

Cynthia dived down, landing gently on the freshly cut grass of Mauville City Centre, her Gallade spinning to her side as Proton smiled. Raising a hand to prevent the grunts from attacking, he snarled in response, "The Sinnoh Champion! What is there to talk about? We are supposed to engage in war aren't we?"

"I think we can both agree a war isn't going to solve anything." Cynthia whipped her golden hair to one side, "All I want to know is why you need Blue."

"Why we need Blue? He is the answer, the key."

"Explain yourself."

"I'd rather not, I've spent enough time messing around here!"

Proton smiled, clicking his fingers as suddenly Mauville City went completely dark. The Thieves Guild had successfully taken over New Mauville, ridding any oppression from The Light agents useless, and now they had the power to blackout a region. A leverage tool and gave them instant power in a region where they needed more. Cynthia and Gallade both dived back towards the edges of the city centre, their backs on the cool stone walls as the champion muttered, "Gallade, track Proton and capture him."

Proton bellowed, releasing his own Pokemon, "Grunts, find them and capture! Crobat, use Sludge Wave!"

The Bat Pokemon screeched, using supersonic to navigate the darkness, and unleashed a powerful poisonous wave into the pitch black centre. The Houndoom repeatedly spat out jets of fire as Gallade was immediately caught off guard, screeching in pain as the attacks made effective contact. Cynthia was forced to retreat instantly, completely surprised at the strength the Thieves Guild had, and returned the injured Blade Pokemon and diving back into the higher walls of the city centre.

Cynthia ran through the dark corridors, messaging Gary quickly as she twisted and turned but soon her path became restricted. Proton's Crobat had appeared as the left over fire from the Houndoom illuminated the surroundings further. Proton commanded, "Capture her, Crobat! Supersonic!"

Cynthia grabbed another Pokeball from her pocket and chucked it high into the air, "Garchomp, Dragon Pulse!"

The Mach Pokemon appeared, screeching loudly as the world around them all began to shake, and released a blue jet of energy from its mouth. Crobat dodged expertly before diving in close for a successful Cross Poison, weakening the powerful Dragon Pokemon as Cynthia was again forced to avoid. These were well trained Pokemon the Thieves Guild were using, but where they did get them from? They didn't seem like the type to be constantly training them, but yet this Crobat was matching something as powerful as Garchomp.

Several attacks later and Garchomp had fallen to the ground completely exhausted with Proton looking on from down below. A smile etched upon his face as he prepared a final move, "Crobat, finish them both off. Cross Poison!"

Cynthia turned and bellowed, forcing Garchomp to stand back up, "Garchomp, use Dragon Rush!"

Both attacks were about to collide before water exploded into the vicinity around them, wiping both Pokemon to separate corners. Garchomp hit the back wall hard as it caught its trainer, but Crobat was not as lucky as it smacked hard into the sodden ground before falling back into the square below. Proton looked confused as he glanced around, his grunts doing the same as another jet of water ballooned down from above.

A voice commanded, booming all over Mauville City, "You both are mine! Blastoise, use Hydro Cannon!"

Verdanturf Town had never been so chaotic, but many of the local civilians had seen the fighting begin in Mauville City. One of the several hundred stood on the edge of the city, perched high above the reaches of the nearby towns, was a young trainer who watched with a tear in his eyes. The Region was being torn apart right in front of them, and Mauville City would never be the same again.

The trainer shook his head, looking at the screaming children and injured Pokemon, and ran off into the darkness with only one thing in mind…
