Ch.11: Mission pt 2
All was quiet in the forest with the exception of a young boy screaming for his life from a giant red toad-monkey called an Alpha Throog.
"I dont want to be licked to death!" shouted Steven, trying to run as fast as he could, with the crystal monster right on his tracks. "Croaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" it screamed, as it began to spit acid from its mouth. Luckily Steven was able to dodge it, until one big puddle landed in front of him, eating the dirt away.
"Whooooa!" said Steven, finally having to stop in front of him. He heard the beast croak again, before turning around to see it only a few feet away from him, "Um...I'm sorry?" replied Steven, unsure what to say.
"Croaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" it shouted and took stuck its tongue out at Steven!
"Aaaaaaaaah!" shouted Steven, closing his eyes. "Happy thoughts, happy thoughts! Come on!" He began to think of his friends, espcially Connie, when suddenly his bubble appeared around him, just in the nick of time, "YES! Haha what now, Throog!" asked Steven, triumphantly. The Alpha Throog looked at him for a minute and blink before grabbing the sphere and began to shake it up and down, causing Steven to hit the top and bottom of the gem bubble. "Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow!" The Alpha Throog laughed and put it under his arm, and started to jump away. "Hey! Ow! Where? Ow! Are! Ow! Taking! Ow! Me?"
"Man thats one smart Throog." muttered Onyx, as he and Garnet look at the big Throog, caring Steven's bubble under its arm hiding in the distance. "Must think Steven is a play toy or something."
"What did I say about staying with and helping the others?"
"I have a listening to order hearing problem, remember?"
"This is no time for a joke. It's got Steven." said Garnet about to charge at the beast, but Onyx put a hand on her shoulder.
"Let's see how it plays out. It might help us find the flute, that you want us to have." said Onyx. Garnet bit her lip. He was right, it was a good idea and the leader might take Steven back to its colony where the others are and the flute might be. But Steven...
"Fine...but if anything happens to Steven...no power on Earth will stop me from hurting you."
"Understandable, I don't want the boy hurt either, but its the only plan we got."
"I lead."
"Fine, lead then leader."

It was a good twenty minutes later did the Alpha Troog finally stopped.
"What?" said Steven, still in his bubble, looking down. He saw little nests made of grass around him and smaller blue Throogs around, eating and playing with each other. That is they all looked up and saw Steven and wander over to Alpha Throog. Some spit out their tounges to the bubble getting a good lick. "Hey cut that out!" said Steven, unsure if the bubble wiould still hold him for much longer. When suddenly something caught his eye in a very large nest, made of leaves. It was long, shiny, and turquiose blue. "Is that the flute?" It looked like a flute so it must of been it he thought, as he got closer to the larger nest as the Alpha Throog made his way towards it. It sat down at the larger nest and looked at the young gem in the bubble. After it gave a long lick on the sheild bubble, it blink looking at him. "Wh-what you going to do to me?" asked Steven, nervously. As it blinked again, and staired him down with its gem eyes, the creature then threw him up into the air. "Whooooooooooa!" shouted the boy being tossed up into the air multiple times like a ball.
"Ha called it both!" said Onxy in a loud whisper, as both gems were hiding behind the trees peering out from them, about Steven being a play toy and the flute.
"Sh!"
"Sorry, ok then leader, got a plan?"
"I'm thinking, do you have one?"
"Well we can try to form Jasper?"
"We are not forming Jasper."
"Fine, you got a better idea?"
"You distract the colony while I grab Steven and the flute."
"Thats it? What nothing else fun?"
"We are here to do a mission, not for fun."
"Oh come on, you use to be fun...a lot of fun."
This time it was the dark red gem to blush but for a second, before glaring at the slightly shorter gem. "Focus Onyx."
"I am focus...and I know exactly how to distract them." he said, with a cough into his hand. "You better hide though."
"Why?"
"Because I'm getting readying to distract them."
Garnet looked at the shorter gem before saying "Don't fail." and left to hide.
"I never do." muttered Onyx, and took a deep breath in.

"I! Ow! Wish! Ow! This! Ow! Stops! Ow! Soon! Ow!" asked Steven, still being thrown into the air by the big Alpha Throog as the other smaller Throogs watched and calmed and laughed.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit's all for my grog! My jolly jolly grog!" came someone shouting a song, a bit off key, which caused all of the Throogs to stare into where the voice was coming from and also Steven from being thrown, as he was now being hold in the hands of the giant red monster.
"Onyx?" asked Steven to himself, realizing he knew the voice. The Alpha Throog put him down as he gave a load croak followed by a few croaks from the smaller Throogs, and all went out towards the bad singing. Steven got up and looked at the direction of the Throogs went, as he began to rub his head. "Well that was strange."
"Steven" said a voice he recognized, he turned around and smiled at the dark red gem.
"Garnet!" he said, smiling. "Oh boy am I glad to see you! Hey I found the flute!" he added, pointing to the flute.
"Good job Steven, now turn off your bubble shield, and lets go." Garnet replied, as she picked up the flute. It hovered in her hand for a few seconds before it vanished into thin air.
"Um, I don't know how to turn it off." said the boy, a bit embarrassed.
"Its simple Steven."
Both now look to see the black gem, smiling as he leaned against a tree, with his hands in his pockets, giving a shark-tooth grin
"I thought you were distracting them?" said the female gem. Even in a monotone voice, there was a sound of frustration in it.
"Eh, relax. I sent them in a wild goose chase. They won't be back for a while." replied Onyx, slowly walking towards them. "Steven you need to feel calm and safe. Just take deep breaths. Just know that everything will be ok."
"Ok." said Steven, as he closed his eyes and began to take deep breaths, in and out. He repeated this a few times until the bubble just popped. "Hey it worked."
"Hm told you." the male gem said to the female one, who just smirked.
"We got the flute and Steven, lets get back to the others and-LOOK OUT!" shouted Garnet, as her gauntlets appear and pushed Steven away, to grab a very large froglike tongue, and pulled it hard, causing a small Throog to fly forward, and got knocked with the other gauntlet, causing the creature to vanish. All three looked to see a few small Throogs, and the Alpha, all staring at the three, croaking loudly.
"Wild goose chase, uh?"
"Ok so they are really smart. Creatures can evolve." replied Onyx, as he took out his scythe. The two older gem step forward in front of Steven, facing about twenty-one Throogs, twenty small ones and the big one.
"Steven, stay back. Onyx and I will handle this."
"Yeah kid, cause things are going to get ugly."
Steven nodded and ran towards the trees and hid behind them. A gust of wind blew as everyone just stared at each other, standing still.
"Hm, this is just like the Pompeii adventure." muttered the male gem, swinging his scythe a bit.
"You and I remember Pompeii very differently." remarked the female, cracking her hands.
"True…but I do remember what happened that night." replied the male, blushing a bit but also causing the dark red gem to smirk but blush as well.
"Ready?"
"Ready."
There was silence for a few seconds until…..
"CROAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" shouted the Alpha Throog, as he and small Throogs charged.
"NOW!" shouted Garnet and both older gems went at it.
Steven watched in amazement as he saw Garnet and Onyx, working together in what seem like perfect harmony, punching and slicing the monsters around them. "So cool." he muttered in awe, his eyes growing big. That is until he saw the Alpha Throog looking at him and coming towards him again. "Oh not again!" shouted Steven as he ran from the big red creature.
"Steven!" shouted the two gems, before looking and nodding at each other. Onyx's scythe disappeared as he ran toward Garnet, whose gauntlets were clasp together. He stepped on the hand, as she threw him up high into the air. After twirling around he put his left leg out, and come down diagonally towards the giant red monster., gaining speed in the process.
Meanwhile Steven was still running from the gem monster to see help was on its way. "Why does this think want to keep chasing me!" he shouted out loud. The Alpha Throog was getting close to him, almost in its grasp when suddenly—
WHAM!
Steven stopped and turned around when he heard the sound to see Onyx hitting the Throog right in between the eyes, with such force it cause the beast to fly backwards into the trees, crushing them in the process before it finally stopped moving the length of a football field distance between them. The smaller Throogs, what was left of them, looked at their leader in the distance, before looking at the two older gems.
"You should start running now." answered Garnet to them, before they ran away into the trees.
"And don't come back!" shouted Onyx, with a grin.
"Yeah, you smelly frogs!" shouted Steven, also grinning.
"Throogs, Steven." replied Garnet as both males walked towards her, both of the older gems' weapons vanishing from them.
"Well that went better than expected." said the black gem, dusting off his hands. "Glad you listen to me in following the creature, instead of attacking it right a way."
"What?" asked Steven, looking at the male gem, a bit hurt.
Onyx notice this, he bent down to the boys level and rubbed his hair "Relax kid. If you were real serious danger, your old Uncle Onyx would save you quicker."
"Still, it was risky." replied the dark red one, as the black one stood back up. "He could have been hurt."
"But he wasn't." answered the older male gem. "There's no real damage."
"Hm, true."
Stevem looked at the two taller gems, when suddenly something snapped. "Hey you two are finally getting along." He said with a wide smile.
Both gems looked at the boy before looking at each other.
"Eh one time fluke?"
"Agreed." answered Garnet, quickly, as both began to walk away from the big nest.
"Aaaaaw come on!" shouted Steven, as he ran towards them. "You mean to say that didn't help at all?"
"Steven, its going to be a long time before Miss Three-eyes and I are on friendly terms."
"Yes, what the midget said."
"I'm taller than Pearl!"
"But still shorter than me." She said with a smirk.
Steven sighed as the two adults began to bicker at each other again. He was so hoping that this mission would work, that Garnet and Onyx could be friends again, that-
Suddenly he felt the ground tremble a bit at his feet. Steven turned around to see the Alpha Throog coming towards them at top speed, furious, and with a giant tree trunk holding it in its left hand.
"GUYS! LOOK OUT!" shouted Steven pointing to the angry red gem monster coming at them.
Both Garnet and Onyx turned quickly as the creature was only a few yards away. Without hesitation, Onyx grabbed Steven and pushed him into Garnet's arms. "I know this doesn't make us cool." he said, looking at Garnet, before being he pushed them hard with such a force to the right that both Garnet and Steven went backwards a couple of yards and fell down onto the ground.
The next sound Steven heard was a great hard smack of something wooden hitting someone and a loud crash and crack that could be heard for miles a few seconds later. When he finally got up, he saw the gigantic Throog, the wooden tree trunk still in his left hand but now on its right side of his shoulder. Steven looked a bit farther before his eyes landed in a figure on the ground, not getting up. "ONYX!" he shouted.
Garnet, who was realizing what just happened stood up and saw the male gem was lying. "….No…." she could only say, in a voice that sounded shocked, before her face turned into fury and looked at the monster. Her gauntlets reappeared in her hands in a blink of an eye before she speed off towards the monster jumped up into the air and began to punch its face with such speed and force. Then she put a fist into the creature's mouth to grab its long acid tongue. A bit hurting but still bearing it, she wrapped it around one of her gauntlets a few times before jumping back until she had stretched out the tongue till it was could not out stretched out any further. Grabbing a bit of it with both hands, she began to swing around, causing the Alpha Throog to let go of the tree trunk and began to hover in the air. She began to pick up more speed, going faster and faster each turn before long she looked like a dark red tornado with a bigger red tornado outside of it. And then after a few more second, Garnet let go causing the creature to fly up and up and up and up till it was nothing but a speck of nothing until it vanished from sit. Steven watched in wonder for a few seconds until he saw the thing coming back down again, quickly, and then….
BAM!
Garnet hit the Alpha Throog with such force you could of heard it for hundreds of miles, before it vanished in a giant cloud of smoke.
After Steven coughed and rubbed his eyes from the giant smoke cloud, he then remembered about his male gem comrade.
"ONYX!" he shouted running over, as Garnet was doing the same, getting there first before he did.
Both looked at the black gem, who was still not moving, face to the ground. Garnet turned him over to hear a loud groan coming from the older male gem Steven sighed in relieve.
"You're ok!"
"No…I'm not." Replied Onyx, staring coldly up into the sky.
"What you mean? You look fine to-"
"Damn frog-ape wacked me so hard, he made some of my bones break. I cant even move without pain."
"But the fighting with Garnet-"
"Like I said kid, not even makes it into the top ten." replied the black gem with a chuckle before coughing a lot, some purple blood coming out of his mouth. "Hm guess some internal bleeding too…. yeah this definitely makes this like sixth…and I'm being generous."
"Save you're strength." Replied Garnet, her voice sounding a bit sad but relieved. "You'll need it to regenerate."
"Hm yeah..." said Onyx, smiling and coughing again. "Hey kid, come here." Steven moved closer as he saw Onyx move his right hand, pain in his face, before reaching to his hat and taking it off his head giving it to Steven. "Hold onto this….I want it back after I'm-" and vanished before finishing his thoughts. Only thing remaining was a onyx gemstone, in the shape of a hexagon.
Steven was in tears before Garnet bent down and put a hand on the boy. "He'll be fine Steven. He's just healing himself. Pearl did the same thing a while back remember?"
"Yeah I know." said Steven, putting the gem into the hat before holding onto it tightly. "But what are we going to tell Pearl and Amethyst?"
Garnet stood up and looked towards the direction they left the other two gems in. "That Onyx is healing and will be back soon. There is nothing else we can do but wait. Come on, we must find the others to see if they are ok." She said as she began to walk towards that direction.
Steven looked at the hat he held in his hands and sighed. Garnet was right. They would just have to wait. As he began to run towards the taller gem, hat in hand, with the gem still inside it, he wonder if he was going to have to wait about two weeks like he had to with Pearl.

Allso sorry for the long hiatus I had writers block moving around some work ect…but now im back wont update fast like I use too but ill try my best when I can…but yeah more soon…but out of curiosity would you guys want more adventures with onyx or end it soon…cause I can go on but up to you the readers.
