Chapter 24

"They're in there. We need to get in without you know…getting killed." April said as she looked at a house in the woods from behind the bushes.
Jack and April followed Jerry and Milton's scents and found that they're at the same place; though it was a vampire hunter house. They changed out of the clothes Mark gave them first.
"How did Jerry get in there? He's a vampire!" Jack exclaimed.
"I don't know. Let's find out." April stood up and walked to the door.
Jack followed and knocked on the door. The door opened a creak.
"What do you want?"
"We're looking for Milton Krupnick and Jerry Martinez." Jack said.
"What do you want with them?"
"We just want to talk." April said.
The door opened all the way. The first thing they were greeted by was guns to their chests. Jack and April raise their hands in surrender already. Milton and Jerry were holding them.
"We didn't come to pick a fight." Jack said calmly.
"Yeah right, says one who starts bar fights at the vampire clubs." Jerry said.
"I don't do that anymore." Jack thought.
"We really don't want to fight."April said.
"Right cause you're not into fighting. You're into manipulating with sex." Milton looked at her in disgust.
"I don't do that! That's was way back in the 1800s." April said.
"One second." Milton left and came back with evidence.
He held up the supernatural newspaper.

The picture was April on the ground with the oversize t-shirt on sleeping. The caption said Pictures got leaked.
"That's not fair! I was wearing shorts under that! And I most definitely didn't have sex!"
"Right." Jerry and Milton say sarcastically.
"Jerry, Milton you have to remember." Jack said.
"We've never met before." Milton said confused.
"Yes you have. I've know you long often to know every time things get frustrating for you; you say 'Holy Christmas nuts.' And when you first try to hit on a girl your pick up line, which always fails, is 'What'a do girl.' You two are best friends. Milton you're extremely smart and Jerry you're…you're not the sharpest tool in the shed." April said.
Jerry and Milton looked at her with wide eyes. "How'd you know that...HEY?" Jerry shouted.
"Jerry, you remember right? I mean come on there has to be one memory floating around." April said.
"Nope, there's nothing up there." Jerry said.
"That's not hard to believe." Everyone expect Jerry said.
He rolled his eyes. "Whatever! Let's just shoot them and get it over with." Jerry said bitterly.
"Jerry, you're a freaking vampire! Why are you doing this to your own kind?" Jack shouted.
Jerry and Milton laughed. April and Jack looked at them like they were crazy and put their hands down.
"Jer-Jerry's a vampire? He-he doesn't have any good senses. Why do you think he stays behind?" Milton said through laughter.
"And at-at the sight of blo-blood I faint. I'm just here to help him." Jerry said through his laughter.
April lifted her wrist to her mouth and bit into and let go, so it was freshly cut.
"What are you doing?" Jack asked April as Milton and Jerry were still laughing.
"Experimenting."
April waved her wrist toward Jerry. Jerry's eyes snapped opened. They were a fierce red and then his fangs came out.
"That was a bad idea he probably hasn't fed in weeks." Jack messaged.
"Ya think?" April said to Jack.
Jerry licked his fangs staring at April. April sighed.
"I had this coming, go for it."
Jerry ran to April and immediately bit her neck. April yelped from the pain. After a minute April patted on Jerry.
"Jerry…losing too…much blood. Ge-get off."
Jerry obeyed April and got up. He smiled and hugged her tightly.
"Jerry, I can't breathe." April said.
Jerry pulled away. "Sorry, I just missed you."
"I feel like I should be mad at her for some reason though…hmm." Jerry thought.
"I missed you too."
"How-how is Jerry a vampire? Who are you people?" Milton asked scared.
"How are we supposed to jog his memory?" Jerry asked.
"I don't know… Milton. Who killed your parents?" Jack asked.
Milton's jaw tightened. "One of you filthy vampires."
"Right, but who saved you from that vampire?" Jack asked.
"Brett saved me." Milton answered.
Jack's jaw tightened. "He seriously replaced me with a pathetic little human. Ok so here's the plan I kill Brett and Mark. Yeah, that seems reasonable."
"That's a lie Milton. You know it. I saved you from him. I wasn't there to save your parents and I'm so sorry. But you have to remember Milton. You hid in your bedroom with your mom and dad while I fought off the first vampire and the second one got through."
Milton started tearing up. "No…no there was only one vampire. I was visiting my parents when one sniffed me as a vampire hunter. I called Brett in but he came too late…" Milton explained with a shaky voice.
Deep down Milton knew that wasn't true.
"Milton you went through depression. You wouldn't talk to anyone or eat. You scared us all. Then April woke up and helped you." Jack said.
"Yeah, remember…you're stronger than people think…than you think." April said.
Milton's eyes widened. Something snapped in his head.
"I-I remember now."
"I remember too…I remember everything." Jerry glared at April.
"Jerry, I-"
"Shut up April. I don't want to hear it. Now let's go find Kim and jog her memory." Jerry declared and started walking away.
April looked down sadly and sped off in the direction of Kim's scent. Milton looked confused.
"Hey, what did I miss?"
"Umm, I'm not sure April would want anyone else to know." Jack left it at that.
Milton nodded and Jack grabbed his wrist following April.
They found Kim still in the woods fighting another vampire, but this time it looked like she was struggling. She was on the ground trying to sit up and looked around frequently. She was trying to look for the vampire but she was no where to be found. Suddenly hundreds of vampire bats come flying toward her. Kim screamed out of fear and covered her face with her forearms. The bats flew upward together leaving Kim alone for a while. Kim was left with scrapes on her jacket and it cut through to her skin leaving bleeding cuts.
Kim got up and the bat flew in a tornado type form in front of Kim. Then they all disappeared and a woman appeared in their place.
"See Kim I have tricks just like you." The woman smirked at her.
Kim glared and ran toward her. When she got close the woman disappeared and the bat came back in her place. They when to the other side, where Kim was, and the woman appeared again.
Kim turned around. The woman ran and punched Kim in the face, making her fall, and then kicked her in the stomach. Kim cried out. That triggered everyone. April ran out the bushes first and grabbed the woman by the collar and jumped high into the air. April's eyes had turned red.
"I see you like flying. What about falling?" April asked, pushing the woman downward.
April let go as she sensed Jack. Jack had jumped in the air and kicked the woman to a tree. She grunted. Then Jerry jumped and grabbed her off the tree. He threw her and upper cut her, making her jaw break.
"Did you really think you'd get off that easily?" Jack asked as he jumped once more and grabbed her arm.
He threw her into a tree head first. Then April jumped again and grabbed her off the tree throwing her down to the ground with all her strength. The woman fell to the ground at full speed on her stomach. She let out a terrifying scream. To top it off April landed on the woman's back, breaking it. She screamed again.
"W-why ar-are you guys h-helping her?" The woman asked scared. "She'll-she'll ki-kill you next."
April got off the woman's back and sat down beside her head. April tilted her head and moved the hair from the woman's face.
"Because I'm…" April paused and looked around to Jack, Jerry, and Milton. "We're her protectors."
April got up and looked to Milton. "Finish it."
Milton nodded, grabbing his gun and shooting the woman's heart through the back and she turned to ashes.
They all turned to Kim who was looking at them confused.
"Jerry you-you're a vampire. And you-you're helping me…why are you guys doing this?"
Everyone smiled.
"Because we love you." Jack said cheerfully.
"What? Vampires don't have feelings." Kim said confused.
"We have feelings. It's just that most vampires don't like to show them, claiming they don't want to be like humans anymore." Jack explained and April nodded.
Kim backed up, scared. "Get away before I call my brother."
"Him! He's the reason we couldn't remember you both! He brought a witch to the house and made us forget our real lives." Milton exclaimed in realization.
"Imma kill him when I see him." April said.
"You're all lying! I've lived in Seaford all my life; I've been training to become a vampire hunter since I was eight. My brother protected me from born to the age of ten. I go to Seaford high school but I hate cheerleading, I made two friends there; Jerry and Milton. I started dating Brett a couple months ago during camp and made a new friend Alice, but she died because a vampire attacked." Kim said.
"That's not true! You're lying to yourself! You know deep down none of that is true! You love cheerleading and you have more than two friends, you're the most friendliest person I know. And Jack is your boyfriend…Alice isn't even a real person. And, again, I'm your protector! Kim, I still protect you…as you just saw." April said.
Kim refused to listen and covered her ears. She repeated what she said over and over again. She paced around.
"They're lying, they're lying, they're lying, they're ly-" Kim got interrupted in her own thoughts.
"No they aren't and you know it." Alyx said. "I've been mentally trapped for a month. Why don't you remember anything?"
Kim's eyes widened. "What have you done to my head?!" Kim shouted at them.
April gave her a confused look before thinking it through. "Oh, that's just Alyx. Don't you remember? It's the voice in your head that gives you advice when I'm not around." April said after realizing it herself.
Kim started to breath hard and tears welled in her eyes.
"I think she's having a panic attack!" Milton exclaimed.
April sped to her side and caught her before she fell. Everyone else rushed to her in a circle.
"What's happening?" Kim thought as she drifted into darkness.
