Ch.12 Reviving Garnet and Onyx part 2

Three weeks had passed and Onyx did not returned from his gem state. Steven, who was now looking at the gem, which was sitting on the kitchen counter since the mission. Though Steven missed that black gem, he was not going to do anything to speed it up or get a replacement Onyx, like what happened to Pearl.

Speaking of Pearl, Steven turned head and looked at the launch pad. She and the other gems had gone on a mission without him today, saying it was extremely dangerous. Well according to Pearl. He sort of knew better it was a way for Garnet to get back on Amethyst and Pearl good side. Cause when they returned from the Alpha Throog battlefield with just the two of them, the other two had to ask what happened to the other male gem. When Steven revealed the onyx gemstone and told them how he saved them both, Amethyst and Pearl understood, but it was something in their eyes, especially Amethyst's, that seem well, like they were angry at Garnet for some reason.

Since then there was a bit of tension in the room. Steven sighed as he kept hoping everything would be all right, and turned back to look at the gem. He was keeping himself busy, eating doughnuts, training, spending time with his dad, Connie came back for a few days, also Lion as well. He sometimes, mostly in the mornings, would watch Onyx's gem for an hour before starting the day. He knew Amethyst and Pearl would take a few minutes to look at it before going back to whatever they were doing. The strange thing was, some nights when Steven had woken up to go use the bathroom, he would see Garnet, sitting on a stool or standing, and just staring at it. He knew was not quiet to his trip to the bathroom but still Garnet would just stare, like it was just she and the gem in the room. However, by mornings, when he really woke up she was gone.

Suddenly a bright blue light appeared behind him. Knowing what it was, or whom it was, Steven just simply turned around to see the Gems, striking a pose, as they reappeared in the house, as the blue light faded.

"Hey! How was the mission?" asked the boy, with a big smile, as he got off the chair he was sitting.

"Eh, it was alright, you didn't miss much." replied Amethyst, shrugging. Steven sighed a bit, she was not like her normal self since the mission.

"So, Steven how was your day?" asked a concerned Pearl, walking over.

"It was good. Helped Sadie out today with some things at the Big Doughnut and got free doughnuts for it." he said. "I still got some if you guys wants some."

"Sure." smiled Amethyst.

"No thanks." replied Pearl.

"Hm…why not." answered Garnet.

"Cool I'll be right ba-" Steven was about to say, before a light gray light began to shine behind them. They all turned to see Onyx's gem began to glow as it started to hover in the air. Then, after a few seconds, it began to change it shape to a male. The Gems and Steven watched as Onyx, finally appeared, looking all the same, wearing the same thing, except two things. He was missing his beanie hat, and now was wearing a green hoodie, with dark gray sleeves. On each side of the shoulders of the hoodie was a light gray star.

"ONYX!" shouted Steven and Amethyst, who ran to Onyx and hugged him.

"Hello to you guys too." smiled Onyx, embracing the hug, and then licking his mouth. "Hm…new teeth, a bit sharper than the last oooooonnnnnaaaaargh!" His shout at the end surprise the Gems, and as Steven and Amethyst let go, Onyx took a knee to the floor and clutch his sides. "KIDNEYS! I GOT NEW KIDNEYS!...I don't like the color."

"Of your kidneys?" asked Steven.

"No, of this hoodie. How can I even see my kidneys?" replied Onyx, getting back up, and looking at the hoodie. "I mean the green part is alright but the grays sleeves…and the stars pattern again? Why do we always have to the star pattern?"

"It looks nice on you, Oni." said the purple gem, laughing at the male gem's complaints of his new appearance.

"Yes it suits you well." added Pearl, who was trying to hold back a giggle as well.

"Yeah…probably would look better with my hat. Speaking of which, where is it kid?"

"Oh, hold on a second! I know where it is!" said Steven as he ran to his bed and lifted his pillow, revealing Onyx's beanie. "Here you go." he said, running back and handing the hat to the male gem.

"Thanks kid." said the black gem, and put it on his head. "Better?"

"Yeah makes it a whole lot better!" said Amethyst, giving her "older brother" two thumbs up.

"Thanks Amy." he replied, and looked at Garnet, who was silent and staring at him the whole time. "So? I believe a thank you is involved?" he said, with a giant grin. "Come on, come on, you can do it. Just say those two little words."

Garnet then slowly walked towards him, as the others look at her, she stopped a few inches away from the black gem, only centimeters apart, and then-

BAM!

Onyx was on his back on the ground, just gotten punched by Garnet with her bare hand, right in nose.

"GARNET!" Pearl Amethyst and Steven yelled as they ran over to the taller gem and looked down at the male.

"What in the name of the Moon of Titan was that for!" asked Onyx, holding his nose with both his hands.

Garnet just stared down at him, with a small smirk. "Don't do that again." she said before turning around and walking to the temple door, before it activated to her room. Within a minute she was gone.

"What was that all about?" asked Steven, looking at the door as Pearl helped Onyx up.

"Eh probably angry I pushed her or something." said Onyx, dusting himself off. Before turning to Pearl. "Is it broken?"

Pearl gave a quick look at it. "No its fine. No real damage, just swollen."

"Great…" sighed the male gem. "I'm going to need an ice pack."

"Hey how about we celebrate with the doughnuts I still have!" said Steven, trying to get things in a better mood. The three older gems looked at each other, before Onyx shrugged.

"Eh sure, I'm in the mood to celebrate even if I just got knocked out a bit."

"I still want one!"

"Um well….if it is a celebration-"

"EXCELLENT!" shouted Onyx, grabbing the two female gems by their shoulders and holding them close to him. "Steven! Three of your best doughnuts then!"

"You got it dude!"

Hours later, after a small celebration, and Steven and the Gems, minus Garnet, told Onyx what was happening, they all called it a night. Right now Steven was in his bed asleep while the gems were in their own rooms. Onyx, as this time, was looking at his reflection in the water floor.

"Eh not bad…it does look good on me." He muttered. "Though I wouldn't mind having a long scarf again like I did a few regenerations ago, now that did look good on me."

"It certainly was." replied a female voice.

Onyx didn't need to turn around quickly who the voice was, so he was slow at it as he saw the last gem he waned to see standing in the doorway, looking at him, with one of her hands at her hips, still with a smirk on her face.

"I see your nose is better as well." she added, slowly walking in.

"Yeah it's a good thing we heal quickly." replied the male gem, crossing his arms. "So you come back to finish the job of hurting me?"

"No, but don't tempt me." she said, finally stop walking as the two stared each other down again. Minutes passed as they continued to stare, not moving an inch.

"Sooooo…as much as I love to have you here." Onyx finally said, in a sarcastic tone. "Why are you here?"

"Thank you."

"Eh?"

"Thank you for saving Steven and I." replied the taller gem, as she nodded.

"It was nothing, I started to like the kid and you know." shrugged Onyx. "But still why did you punch me?"

"Because no matter how noble that was, that was still a stupid thing to do. Plus you needed your ego of yours to be deflated a bit." she added with a small smile.

"Oh hahaha…..This doesn't make us cool, uh?"

Garnet shook her head. "No, but it helped. I was thinking a bit, when you were regenerating, and…and I trust you to teach Steven about being a gem."

Onyx's eye widen as he smiled. "Really?"

"Yes, you seem to change some of your ways a bit for the better, but if you ever put Steven in danger, or hurt him, or show him any darker ways of protecting humanity….I'm coming after you."

"Eh fair enough." Shrugged Onyx, putting his hands in his hoodie pockets, and began to rock back and forth.

"Good." added the female gem. "So…why did you save me too?"

"Eh, no special reason. Mostly because, a, if I didn't, the others would be furious at me and think it was for revenge, b, they need their leader, and c…" Onyx then stopped rocking and looked at the floor. "Honestly, if I want you to get hurt, I rather be by me than a stupid red toad-monkey."

Garnet shook her head, but smiled. "Of course." she said, turning around and walking back to the entrance.

"…Sometimes."

"Hm?" Garnet stopped and turned her head, hearing the male gem speak again.

"Sometimes, at night, while I was alone, I thought of you, and only you, and wonder what you were doing." said the black gem.

Garnet turned around to face him and smiled "I missed you as well"

"Good to know." replied Onyx, giving the dark red gem his shark-like grin. "I mean sure you get my blood boiled, but I realized that its only you that does that, no one or anything else has ever done that."

Garnet nodded, knowing it was one of Onyx's strange compliments. "Well if we are honest, you were the only male I considered worthy as an equal."

Onyx laughed a bit as he began to walk towards her slowly. "Aaaaw, I'm touched."

"You should be." replied the leader, as she began to walk slowly as well. Soon enough they stop only this time inches apart from each other.

"Hey, so I never got to ask? You remember what happened in that night in Pompeii right? Or is that something else you remember differently?"

She smiled, and brought her head a bit forward. "No, I remember what exactly happened that night in Pompeii….and the fields of the Temple of Io."

Onyx smirked, as he brought his head a bit closer as well. "And the Lunar Sea Spire."

"And the caverns we once had to find that golden statue."

"And that time we escape from that King Stephen."

"And that temple after we both fought that hydra."

"And Nex's Palace, after that gem tournament, which, unfortunately, you won."

"I know…but somehow I think you left me win."

"You're right I did."

Now both were only centimeters away from each other, able to feel the other's breath on their faces. Eyes lock in with each other. They stood like this for a minute, before Onyx began to smile. "How about one more fluke….for old times sake?"

Garnet smiled and nodded. "For old time sake."

TBC….sorry about that but I hope this is a good chapter. And don't worry, Garnet and Onyx's are not on good terms now, like they said one time fluke. Also, who knows what they did in those places…for all we know they were sparing with each other lol Anyways more to come soon and hopefully get to show Onyx's darker side eventually.
