Hi sorry for the lateness been moving a bit and school started again but here is the new chapter Also before starting lets talk about Onyx's appearance, mostly height, weight, and built really cause we know what he wears and looks like a bit. He's as tall as Pearl, but only a like two or three inches, he's still shorter than Garnet. He's a bit thin and as somewhat muscular, and appears to be in his mid-twenties. Sorry just when I first wrote it I said he was average weight and height I hope that helps out more. Also this takes place before certain episodes like Indirect Kiss, so yeah keep that in mind. Now we shall being!

Ch. 13: Old Pasts

The Sun had risen a while ago, as Steven sat and ate his breakfast, which was consist of pancakes with a massive amount of syrupy. He was still eating while Pearl and Amethyst entered the room, which was a bit strange because usually Garnet would be the first out. Still he shrugged if off and continued to eat as the other two gems did their normal routines, Pearl making herbal tea and Amethyst getting something fattening, which causes Pearl to muttered and shake her head a bit. When he was finish with breakfast the temple door opened again and both Garnet and Onyx appeared.

"Morning you all!" shouted Onyx, stretching his arms, as he walked towards the kitchen and grabbed the thing Amethyst was eating and looked at it. He took a sniff at it before biting into it and giving it back to the purple gem. "Hm not bad, you always had good tastes." Amethyst smiled as Pearl looked like she was going to throw up.

"So what is going on for today?" asked Steven excitedly, washing his plate in the sink.

"Steven, Onyx and I have been talking, and I think you can begin training with him." said Garnet, in her monotone voice.

"What?!" asked the other female gems as Steven gave a big smile.

"Alright!" he replied.

"However." she added. "You must have one of us watching you the entire time, to judge on how things are going."

"Which I felt was uncalled for, but I didn't want to get punched in the nose again." muttered Onyx, a bit loudly. "Anyways kid, want to go train a bit?"

"Yeah!" shouted Steven, as he smiled, until he noticed something. "Hey Onyx? What's that on your neck? It looks like something bit you a few times?"

Onyx's eye began to widen as he quickly covered his neck with his hand. However, he wasn't the only one, as Pearl's and Amethyst's eyes widen as well, while Garnet turned away a bit, blushing a tad bit. "Probably bed bugs or something, hey how about we go outside and just warm up a bit uh?" he said quickly.

"Sure!" said Steven, as he ran out the door with Onyx following behind him. When the male gems left, both Pearl, whose mouth was wide open and eyes still big, and Amethyst, who was smiling big like she just heard the funniest thing in her entire existence, looked at their leader.

"No way…" muttered Pearl, as Amethyst began to laugh so hard she was practically on the floor.

"So did you two have fun?" said Amethyst, still laughing and smiling.

"I have no idea what you are talking about?" asked Garnet, looking back at them.

"Oh come on! We know what happened! We saw the evidence on Onyx's neck!"

"Garnet, how…what…why!?" said Pearl, loudly. "I mean sure, we knew you two were…close long ago, but-"

"It was a one time thing." Garnet said, in her monotone voice, as she walked to the window. "For old time sake….I still don't trust him."

"Pffft, yeah right! " shouted Amethyst, finally getting up. "You two still like each other! Even when you get on each others nerves and seem to hate each other, you and he would later go sneak out to resolve things! Admit it! This is as funny as the time we caught you two after the Rosetta Temple mission, in that tomb chamber….or that time with the volcano adventure inside that mountain, or that time-"

Garnet did not say another word as the purple gem kept naming different times and places, counting them on her fingers. She continued to stare out onto the beach at the two male gems, as Pearl just shook her head.

sususususususu

"So what are those on your neck?" asked Steven, mimicking Onyx's stretching, who was stretching his right arm.

"I'll tell you when you're my age kid." replied Onyx, switching arms and stretching it.

"But aren't you guys like thousands of years old?" asked Steven again, stretching his left arm.

"Exactly." said Onyx, without missing a beat, and stop stretching, and grinning. "Well, since we have to wait for one of them, why don't we-"

"ROOOOOOOOAR!"

Both turned to see something large pink and furry was heading towards them.

"LION!" shouted the boy, as he smiled and ran to his pet.

"Lion?" repeated Onyx, looking at the creature, as it nuzzled is head at the kid's stomach, causing him to laugh. Onyx looked at the beast carefully, he knew it was no ordinary lion, he can feel some magic in him. Also, it was unusual for a lion to be pink, than again it was weird to find a black lion and a white lion but he met some once. Though they were neither magical nor pink. However, that did make him think longer. Didn't Rosie have a pet a few centuries back before they became a team? He thought he remembers she said she had like a feline assistant like a tiger or cougar or something. He couldn't remember for the life of him. Also, this cat did look familiar, but where was it.

"Hey Onyx! Come meet Lion!" shouted Steven, who broke the black gem's concentration. However, as soon as Lion heard the name Onyx, he looked up and stared at the black gem, and started to growl. "Don't worry Lion, Onyx is a friend." said the boy, with a smile though he was confused. Lion never growled at anyone unless they were a monster or a threat. Still the big magical cat growled at the gem, which started to concern Steven. "Oh, not you too." sighed Steven. "You can trust him too."

"Actually Steven….I think I've met your pet before…..a few times." said the black gem, glaring at the pink lion that continued to growl. Yeah now he remembered, it was a while since they last met but he remembered this lion.

"Really?"

"Yeah….but it was never good." replied the older male gem, as he took his scythe out, as the lion was getting ready to pounce.

"What? How come? What did you two do?" asked Steven, a bit panicking due to not wanting to have a brawl.

"Yes Onyx, what exactly did happen?"

All three males turned to see the dark red gem only a few feet away, with her arms crossed, waiting for the male gem to answer.

Onyx silently cursed in his head for his luck, and he was getting on her good side a bit until the fur ball showed up. Still he sighed and lowered his scythe, before talking again. "After I was force to go, a few years went by after just wandering and stuff, I decided to do some solo missions that I believed would be helpful to the Earth. So I was in a temple in South America, suppose to have like this thunderstone that gives off the power of thunder. Anyways, found the temple, and as I reached the top of it, here was this giant pink kitten guarding it. Naturally, I wanted the stone." Onyx stopped and looked at Garnet directly into her shades. "To make sure it didn't fall into the wrong hands, not for my own personal use." And turned back to face the boy and the lion. "Any who, so we began to fight and after a while, I tired out this beast and won, grabbed my prize and left. After that, we began to bump into each other every decade or so, in different places. Sometimes I won, and sometimes he won." he said, gesturing with his head to the growling lion still.

"Where is the stone?" asked Garnet, in a stern voice.

"As him." replied the older male gem, pointing now to the lion. "Last time we fought, he took it as a prized and hid it somewhere I can't find it."

"You never bubbled it back to the temple?" asked Garnet, curious a bit.

"I was going to…eventually. Definitely when I came back to give to Rosie and you others when I returned. Just wanted to hold on to it for a while." said Onyx, muttering the last part of that sentence, moving some sand with his bare feet and looking down.

"Well I say its time to bury the hatchet!" smiled Steven, as both Crystal Gems look at him, before the boy turned to face his furry friend. "Come on Lion, Onyx is our friend. He's a good guy again." Lion still growled at the black gem. "Lion, you can trust him. Please, for me?" asked the boy, with big pleading eyes. The magical feline look down at him, before gazing back at the other male gem, slowly stopping its growling.

"You better apologize." Garnet said, putting her two sense in.

"Me?" replied Onyx, a bit shocked.

"Yes you, you're the one who started this little feud between the two, it needs to be you."

Onyx let out a loud sigh. "Fine." he muttered and went to the beast, as it too walked over, and both stopped when they were a few inches apart. "I'm sorry I beat you and took the thunderstone in the first place long ago. We're cool?" he asked it, putting up a hand. Lion look at the hand, than at Onyx, than at Steven, and then back at the hand. It gave big roar to the face, and put a paw up onto the hand.

"Yaaaaaay!" shouted the boy, putting his hands up in the air, as the older male gem and lion put their respective hand and paw back.

"Steven, why don't you go into town with Lion for a bit?" said Garnet.

"Really? But what about-"

"Kid, something tells me that we are going to have to practice later." interrupted Onyx, staring back at the female gem.

Steven looked at the two, feeling a slight tension as the two looked at each other. "Um ok…." he said, turning is attention to Lion. "Hey Lion, want to go on an adventure!" Lion just looked at the boy before lowering itself so the boy could get on. The moment he did, the feline took off across the sand. "See ya, you two!" shouted Steven, waving at the two gems.

Onyx waved back, watching the two go off into the distance, as he said "Are you sure, its safe to let him go on his own with that thing? I mean what if it got hungry and eat him? How are you going to-"

"Why did you need the stone?"

Onyx sighed again. Yeah, just his luck when things were getting better. He turned to the taller gem, looking directly at her, putting his hands in his hoodie pockets. "Eh, thought I do something fun and helpful for a bit." he replied, with a shrug.

"If you were, you would have bubbled it still."

"Like I told you, I was going to give it to you all personally."

"You're lying."

"And why, my dear leader, would I lie to you? After all, I thought after last night-"

"That is different, this is now." responded the female gem, with a dark blush on her face. "What else have you been hiding? What else have you been after on these "missions" of yours?"

"Eh just a few things, some artifacts here, some unique gems there."

"Where are they now?"

"I have them somewhere safe, don't worry. No one but me knows where they are." he said with a shark-like grin.

There was a moment of silence as the two look on at each other, before the dark red one said "Tonight."

"Come again?"

"Tonight. You have till tonight to tell me and the others where you place the items you take, if you still want to be part of this team."

"What's gotten into you, well other than-"

"Finish that, and I wont break more than just your nose."

Onyx's eye widen as he stopped talking for a few seconds. "Fair warning, but what did I do now?"

"I want the truth, Onyx. Of what you have been doing since your exile."

"I told you and the others the first day I got-"

"The REAL truth." demanded Garnet, with a voice of frustration. "If you want to really be part of the Crystal Gems again, and actually help us and Steven, and want us to be good again, then I need you to come clean about everything."

Onyx looked at her and sighed. "Fine fine fine. I give in. I'll tell you at midnight, on top of the temple." He said, moving his head up towards the lighthouse.

"Good, and Pearl and Amethyst will be joining us."

"Oh come on, why bring Amy and Pearl in? Why can't it just be you and me? I think that has been doing well so far." asked Onyx, with a bit of sarcasm in his voice.

"Us four. Tonight. Be there. And the whole truth." Said Garnet, turning around, and walking back to the house.

"I liked it better when you were less quieter!" shouted Onyx, with a hand to his mouth.

"I wish you followed my example and did the same." replied Garnet, as she smirk leaving a shocked Onyx in the sand closing the door.

Onyx just sighed and shook his head. "Great, just great. Nice going, Steven. You got me into trouble with your pet cat." he muttered out loud. Still he knew it wasn't the boy's fault, just…things were just sort of turning back to normal. He then turned to the ocean and said out loud. "I wonder if I have time to escape on my raft?" A moment or two went by before saying "Nah." and began to walk away.
