Ch. 15: The Talk
"So….we just going to sit here in silence or what?" asked the male gem, with his arms crossed. All four older gems were sitting in a circle in a way. From clockwise it was Onyx, Pearl, Garnet, Amethyst, and then back to Onyx. All three females were staring right at him.
"We are waiting for you to tell us." commented Pearl, a bit annoyed of the few minutes of silence that followed after they all sat down.
"What there is to talk about? I left, got bored, went on solo missions, got magical stuff, and put it away for myself. I think that's mostly it in a nutshell." said Onyx, with a shrug. "Honestly, I can't believe you thought I just go sight seeing this place or just stay in a cave for all this time."
"Yeah, well we're surprise what lead you to exiled in the first place!" shouted Pearl, in a bit angry tone.
Onyx looked directly at Garnet and smirked. "You finally told them uh? The REAL reason I left."
"After you slightly confession with your interactions with the lion, they had a right to know." replied the leader.
"Of course, we do! What were you thinking Onyx!"
"Hey! Lay off him Pearl, he didn't mean too. Besides he saw he was wrong! Right, Oni?"
Onyx smiled at the only gem that seem to be on his side at the moment. "Yeah, I knew I was wrong thing to do, and thus why I agreed to exiled. Cause you know, it was either that or you guys turn me into my gemstone state and bubble me till the end of the universe."
"That's not how I remember it." replied Garnet, getting a glared at Onyx.
"Right…anyways it doesn't matter. What's done is done. Besides I think the time I've been active here, I've been on good behavior, no?"
"It's been less than a week Onyx, excluding the three weeks you were regenerating." said Pearl, with annoyance in her voice.
"True, but you known me since we been a team, and how long was that was? I have known we have been stuck on this planet for at least two or three thousand-"
"Enough." shouted Garnet, causing the three to jump a bit. "What were you going after the thunderstone for?"
"Eh, it was more like in case I need to protect myself." shrugged the black gem, which earned a snort from the small purple gem.
"From what? We can like defend ourselves from anything."
"Fine…I was thinking…it might be a key to taking us off this rock, once and for all." sighed the male gem, leaning back onto the grass. He didn't need to look to know all three females were now looking at each other, nervously, before gazing their sights on him.
"Onyx…." muttered Pearl.
"Ok look, when I left, yes after traveling a few decades and actually seeing things like I promise Rosie, and I did the hero thing, you know protecting the humans and whatnot, but don't you see the stares you get when you do something magical. Heck, most of my India adventures, most villages thought I was a god and almost worshiped me, which I might add, is not a bad gig for a while."
"Sweet, why didn't you just kept doing that? That got to feel so nice!" smiled Amethyst.
"Because after at least a month or so I got bored and left, cause I wanted to be treated like there is nothing special about us. But apparently when you have a completely different skin color, have a gem on your body, and can do magical stuff, people offer you food, clothing, and well….family members, lets say."
"I don't get it." replied Pearl. Garnet leaned in and muttered something, which caused Pearl to gawk open her mouth and eyes becoming big as saucers. Onyx, who leaned his head up a bit to see it, chuckled as well as Amethyst.
"Anyways, like I said it was fun, for a bit, but then I usually left, especially when they began to offer family members, which do not worry, I didn't do anything with them." he said looking directly at Garnet as he sat back up. "And like I said those were the good ones. Most of the time after helping a village, I get chased out thinking I'm a demon of some sorts. Imagine that uh?" saying that last sentence with a sarcastic tone. "Until one day, somewhere I think in that land down under….Australia? Or is it Austria? I can never figure out the name of that place. So I was fighting this big two-headed gem sea serpent and won-"
"Can you please look at us when you talking?" asked Pearl, coming out of her shock. "Its rude to not make good eye-contact."
"How can I make good eye-contact? I only got one eye!"
"Onyx...," muttered Garnet, in a warning sort of tone.
"Alright alright." replied the male gem, sitting back up. "Where was I?"
"I think you were the place called Australia." said Garnet.
"Right, so after beating the gem and turning it back to its gem state, I was about to put it away when I began to think of something. Maybe the gems could help us, you know? Like maybe use them for a way to get back out there, among the stars. I mean I was just collecting them to make sure no one took in to their own hands before that thought accord to me, cause you know they were once like us, just not pure anymore. Anyways, with the natives, happy for my service, I asked them only for a cavern to put my stuff, which they did, and the lucky part it, it had some magical elements to it. Like it had some uniqueness to it." smiled the black gem.
"How so?" asked the creamy-color gem, who like the other two had an eyebrow raised.
"Like you can only enter it during a few times in a year, only though when it's a red moon."
"How come?" asked Amethyst, now a bit interested.
Onyx shrugged. "I don't know, maybe has to do with some magical properties. I didn't look at a gift horse in the mouth."
"What?"
"It's an expression Pearl." replied the male gem and continued. "So after that, they showed me the cavern and I began to some magical gem stuff, you know, like redecorating and bubbling gems to put them in there, cause I was tired of carrying them."
"How did you carry them?" asked Garnet.
"In my hat." said Onyx, taking it off and opening it shaking it a bit, causing a few bars of chocolate to fall out. "I remember a trick to get infinite space in a tiny place. You know some good old gem magic, of making things bigger on the inside." He then put his beanie back on and picked some up. "Want some? This stuff is very good!" While Pearl cringe of the thought of eating, and Garnet not saying anything, only Amethyst, who was smiling, reached over and took some, eating them instantly, not even taking the wrappers off, which cause Pearl to shutter more. Onyx chuckled as he took off the wrapper of one, and bit into it slowly. "Anyways, so I bubbled the objects I had up in my hat, and just put them in there. And I have been doing that ever since. Going back every so often to dump more of them."
"Why didn't you just keep it in your hat?" asked Pearl.
"Eh wanted to make more room for things. Besides, didn't want those to fall in the wrong hands, especially after fighting with the pink kitten you keep around here, I learned my lesson of holding onto important things." replied Onyx.
"So…any luck of using the gems to get us home?" asked Amethyst, still grabbing and chewing on the bars on the ground.
"As of the moment, no. But I might be close." said Onyx.
"I still can't believe you using gems that were once us for such an idea." shouted Pearl, annoyed a bit.
"Hey not my fault for what they became." snapped Onyx, "Just thought they could help in their gem state. I mean wouldn't you?"
"Well…I…" said Pearl, blushing blue before signing. "You're probably right. Sorry Onyx."
"Eh its cool, no worries. However, now thinking about it, maybe if we combine the gems and items here and the ones I got in that cavern we be able to figure something out together."
"That's…that's actually not a bad idea." said Pearl, who eyes lighten up, excitedly. "Just think, we can be back among the depths of outer space, oh might be able to see other good gems again-"
"When can we go get those gems you have." interrupted Garnet, hands crossed.
"Eh in another….." He looked up at the moon. "Another month and a half till the next red moon."
"That long?" asked Amethyst.
"Hey, I can't control how it work. It's got a mind of its own."
"Like your mouth?"
"Oh hahaha, Garnet." replied the black gem, sticking his tongue out. "So? Does that mean I'm done being questioned?"
"Not quiet. We need to know what you have in that cavern of yours. Do you remember any of it?" said Garnet
"Pfffft, like the back of my hand." he said, blowing a puff of air out of his mouth. A moment of silence followed, until he realized- "It means yes I can remember all that is in there."
"Good." said Pearl, her gem glowing as a piece of paper and a pen came out of it. She grabbed the stuff and put it on her lap. "So tell me what you have."
Onyx looked at the paper and said. "You're going to need more than that…."

It was almost three in the morning by the time they finish the list, and Amethyst was now writing, badly according to Pearl, due to the latter's hand cramping up after page twenty. It was now double the amount of that now when Amethyst finally stopped.
"Damn Onyx, you found a lot of things, haven't you?" asked Amethyst, looking over the list.
"Hey, when you are exiled after a while, what would you do to not get bored?"
"Probably sleep all day…oh and eat! Definitely eat!"
"Did that for a while, get boring just a bit trust me." replied the male gem, as her thinner companion took the list from the shortest one and looked it over.
"I still can't believe you found some of these things." said Pearl, looking at the list in awe. "I'm even more surprise that you were able to get some of these."
"Eh, I'm always full of surprises." shrugged Onyx, but gave a wink at the leader sitting across from him.
"Still, when the time is right, you will take us to this cavern and we shall bubble everything back here. Understood?" ordered the dark red gem, not phased by the wink.
"Yeah yeah…..so are we good?"
"No…why did you even come back?"
"What? Two hundred and fifty years seems too short for you, Garnny? I just happen to drift this way. Thought hell maybe it's a good time to come home."
"I'll be the judge of that."
"You were already the judge of that, because here I am still." replied the black gem, gesturing a hand over his body.
"But why the want to train Steven?" asked Pearl, looking up from the list finally.
Onyx sighed. "Because of Rosie…." All three females looked at each other before the male sighed once more. "Look, you three at least got to say goodbye to her, but me, I never did, and that is a regret to me. At first, I thought it would be a good way to make things up to her, if I took care of her son, like you three have been. Plus, I like the kid, he's got spunk."
"I told him to shower more."
"That's stank Pearl, that's different." comment the male gem, causing the thin one to blush blue and the shortest one to laugh with a snort.
"Very well, I guess after you coming clean and actually admitting what you been doing, you will still be allowed to stay." said Garnet, moving her glasses just a bit. "However, you are here by on twenty-four hour watch by one of us, especially with Steven."
"Yes warden." replied the black gem, rolling his eye.
"Good, I guess we are done…there is just one more question I need from you. Alone." replied the leader. Both females looked at her and then at the male before both looking at each other.
"Well I kind of want to do some napping anyways."
"I think ill go polish some swords of mine."
Both of them got up and said their good byes before they left.
"So...what's the question? Because if you think we are going to do what we done here…answer is game on." smiled Onyx.
"Did you kill anyone?" she asked, cold and monotone.
"What?" he asked, a bit shocked.
"Did you kill anyone?"
Onyx closed his eye and smirked. "Oh come now, I made that mistake once, what would make you thiiiiiiiiiink?!"
Before Onyx could truly finish, he now open his eye to see he was hanging upside down by one leg, being hold by Garnet, who was dangling him over the edge of the cliff.
"Seriously?!"
"This is why you never let your guard down."
"Forget about guard down and just put me down!" he shouted, flaring his arms. "Wait what am I worried, I'll just land on the sand and be fine."
"Not unless I drop you on some sharp rocks and crack your gem."
Onyx glared at her. "You wouldn't dare." He then felt her grip loosen up a bit. "Ok ok ok! No I didn't hurt anyone ever in my exile! I swear!"
"You not lying to me?"
"Yes, I'm not lying to you! Now just please, don't do anything stupid, and put me do-"
Garnet then threw Onyx into the side of the lighthouse, head facing the ground and arms and legs spread out onto its stonewall, face looking out towards her. He slowly started to fall a few centimeters before he hit his head on the grass and the rest of his body came down with a thud.
"Thank you." muttered Onyx, getting up slowly to dust him off, until he felt a hand on his shoulder. He then was spin around and picked up by the collar by the taller gem, which had taken her glasses off, staring at him with all three eyes, with anger.
"Listen well, and listen to me good, one last time Onyx. If I know you are lying, or you hurt any human or anyone on this team, especially Steven, you are going to wish you never came back. Are we clear?"
Onyx glared with rage with his one eye, smirked and said, mockingly, "Of course I do…sweetie. Anything you say I obey, like a good dog. But just promise me this, if you going to make more threats to me, actually follow through, you know how much I hate empty promises."
Garnet just scowled at him more before dropping him with another thud and walking away, putting her glasses back one. "I expect you being back in the temple less than five minutes."
"Yeah, yeah, got it, mistress." he replied sarcastically, getting up once more, and dusting himself off. Sheesh that gem…she was a pain in his well everywhere honestly. Still, he smirked, like he told her before, nothing got his blood boiling more than her, and he still thought that was a good thing.

Next time is…well I don't know I have three ideas that would work before I do the main one lol One is with Onyx meets Connie and Steven asks him for some advice, one is a mission with Pearl Steven and Onyx and one with Amethyst Steven and Onyx. So I'll leave it up to you the viewers to decide (please do so when reviewing) Ill do that one first and then ask again about the other two. Also sorry for the long way just was finishing up finals and also might not have a lot of time to write in Dec so if anything lookout for Jan for a new chapter but if I have time definitely Dec. Until then thanks for reading and more soon to come.
