Max, began to walk over to where zoe was stood. Her body stiffened, she didn't know whether she was ready to do this.
Yes she was head over heals in love with Max and now the whole department knew. Max took Zoe's hand and kissed her on the forehead.
"Count yourself lucky I've already had this for the last 5 minutes."
The crowd that included, Robyn, Lofty, Tess, Big Mac, Noel, Louise and Charlie followed closely behind Max.
"Kept this quite, didn't you." Charlie began.
"Well it was just a bit of fun, but it didn't last long before it got kinda more."
"So how long it been going on." Robyn but in.
"About a year." Max answered honestly.
"A year, so Zoe was the digital individual." Lofty exclaimed.
"No wonder Max looked like a lost soul when Zoe left, how could we all have been so blind." Tess said in dismay.
Just then connie appeared behind them all.
"I don't pay you to interrogate other members of staff on their personal lives, now get back to work the lot of you. And Zoe my office now."
"Oh someone's in trouble."Noel commented.
"Shut it."
Zoe quickly dropped her bag and coat off in her office and made her was slowly towards Connie's. This was the part she was dreading. Had connie seen? She didn't know, her instincts had taken over and she had been so lost in Max's lips, she had failed to even catch a glimpse of her rival.
She knocked the dirt and waited. A quiet "come in" she pushed the handle down and took a deep breath, here goes nothing.
"Ah Zoe, take a seat." Zoe sat down opposite connie and the other woman looked directly at her.
"Before you ask, yes I did see yesterday's antics in reception. But before you say anything let me finish. It wasn't the best idea you've ever had I'll grant you that, but it would take a fool not to notice how happy he makes you and how happy you make him. So what I'm trying to say is that I'm happy for you both, I know it's not a conventional relationship within the hospital hierarchy, but on this occasion I am willing to let it slide. As long as it doesn't interfere with my department."
"Oh I don't know what to say, thank you I guess and no it won't interfere with my work or Max's."
"I'm glad to hear, now go and treat some patients."
Zoe stood up and went to walk out.
"And Zoe, don't you dare tell anyone about what I just said."
A smile spread across Zoe's face, this is going to be easier than I first thought, she thought.
