Learning to Live

Alistri, wife of Legolas, has to learn to cope when she loses an eye to orcs. I'm gonna do the disclaimer here so I don't have to do it every chapter: I do not own Lord of the Rings or any of its characters.

2. Chapter 2

Chapter Two: Patches

"Legolas!" Legolas rushed into Alistri's room as he heard her call his name. When he got there she was sitting up in bed, breathing heavily.

"What's wrong, love?"

"I-I woke up, and half of the room was dark, and I got scared, I didn't know what was going on, and- and I just panicked, and-and-and-"

"Shhh," Legolas cut her off, "It's okay." He gathered Alistri up in his arms, holding her close as she continued to sob. "It's all gonna be okay." Alistri held tight to him, and a few minutes later, she was fast asleep in his arms.

A/N: I know that right now Alistri seems really weak and codependent and all. But she's been through a really hard time right now, you have to understand, and she's still really upset. As the story progresses she'll turn back into her true self, the strong-willed, hot-tempered elf-maid that Legolas fell in love with.
