Chapter seven- Escape
Kono crawled through the small tunnels trying to determine where she should go. There tunnels split in various directions and she had to use her memory to work out what direction she had been dragged from when the two men brought her in. She furrowed her brow as she chose to go right hopefully back down the original corridor. After a while she could hear the faint sounds of people talking. She strained to hear what was being said, the tunnels muffling the voices too much. Kono continued crawling until the voices became louder and she reached another slatted cover. She froze before she reached it, not wanting to be seen crawling over it. Quietly she lay on her stomach and watched the interaction below. She could see two men discussing something Japanese, fortunately Kono was top in her class when it came to studying languages and Chin had even taken her to Japan when she was a teen.
"Bosu wa, kare wa wareware wa kare ga modoru made no heya de sorera o iji suru hitsuyō ga arimasu to nobete imasu."
Boss is out he said we have to keep them in the room until he is back.
"Dono yō na kare ga modotta toki ni, sorera o dō suru tsumoridesu ka?"
What is he going to do with them when he returns?
"Sorera o korosu"
Kill them
Kono tensed with anger at Wo Fat's intentions. It made her blood boil that he still wanted to kill them just because he had some unknown grudge against Steve. Kono saw as on man went back to his work whilst the other stood conveniently under the slatted vent. All Kono could think off was an escape. She pulled herself into a crouched position and steadied her breathing. Escape with my team. She took a deep breath in and kicked out the vent watching as it smashed into the oblivious man before jumping down herself and knocking him down. The man behind the desk stood ready to shoot Kono as the other man scrambled to his feet and grabbed Kono from behind. She used the leverage from behind and kicked the gun from the other man knocking him into his desk where he smashed his head. Kono swung round and brought the other man to the floor grabbing the keys and guns from the men before heading out the door and locking them in.
Kono checked the corridor for any other unwanted guests and checked the gun was loaded. It was thankfully. Kono ran down the corridor stopping at each end and scanning the space her gun raised ready to shoot anyone that may be round the corner. As Kono reached another end she heard footsteps. She stopped with her back flat against the wall her gun raised and her stance strong as she waited for the unsuspecting person to walk straight into her. As the steps got closer Kono realised there were at least three people. She swallowed as she anticipated taking on three men. A cluster of shadows were now visible and Kono pushed all thoughts of fear aside as she kicked the first man's legs out before shooting the next two with ease. Kono turned back and shot the first man before running towards another corridor where the door to her guys was.
The guys sat waiting, hoping that Kono could pull through. Chin voiced in concerns for his cousin repeatedly his protective nature taking over. Danny to joined in feeling bad that Kono was out there alone. Steve however hushed their concerns with confidence.
"Guys it's Kono she will be fine" Steve voiced.
"We have no idea how many men are out there and what about Wo Fat!" Danny exclaimed.
"Kono kicks arse Danno she knows what she's doing we just have to wait and be ready to help each other out of here" Steve explained calmly.
The guys accepted what Steve had to say and prepared themselves for when Kono arrived. As they sat in silence they heard the faint sound of footsteps running towards the room. The men sat bolt upright on the off chance it was someone else. Before any of them had a chance to move the lock of the door was shot off and Kono pushed in hard opening the door to the dusky light outside.
"You took your time" Danny mocked but the relief on his face showed Kono how pleased he was.
"Wo Fat is on his way back here I'd say let's run but I for one am not prepared to let this bastard get away with this." Kono informed as she stepped back into the room and closed the door to, leaving it slightly ajar to arouse suspicious.
"What do you suggest?" Chin asked.
Kono smirked as she explained her idea all the guys agreeing.
Wo Fat stalked the corridors curious to the silence that had settled alarmingly around the warehouse. He didn't bother heading back to the office where the first two men Kono took out lay, instead he headed straight to where the team were. On the way he came across the three men Kono shot, rolling around in pain.
"What happened!" Fat hissed as the men tried to prevent the bleeding.
"The girl!" Once croaked out.
Wo Fat sneered and tensed his shoulders as he grasped his gun. He had no idea how she got out but as the men on the floor pointed back towards the room where Wo Fat had originally left the team he decided to go there first.
He reached the corridor and noticed the large door slightly ajar. He could hear a faint murmur from the room and walked closer ensuring his steps were light. As he got closer he saw his enemy Steve McGarett lying on the floor writhing around in pain. Had the girl done this was she on the other side? Was he too weak to go with them? Thoughts ran through Wo Fat's mind as he carefully approached the door. He couldn't see anyone else in the room and pushed the door open wide. His gun pointed at Steve.
"Is anyone else in here?" Fat asked.
Steve just lay there pretending to be in pain.
"I'll shoot you then they'll come out! Fat sneered from the doorway.
Just as Wo Fat went to pull the trigger Kono roundhouse kicked the gun from Wo Fat and shot him in the leg watching as he fell backwards to the floor. Kono kicked him in the head as Fat tried to get up and held her gun over him. Steve, Danny and Chin ran out the room and each got a punch in. Wo Fat tried to fight but the blows kept coming and his leg was throbbing.
"Don't mess with Five-0" Kono smiled proudly as the guys dragged Wo Fat out.
That evening the team sat around the office drinking beer and revelling in the fact Wo Fat was now locked up. Steve smiled at Kono from where he sat proud of everything she had done. He felt a sense of warmth consume him as he watched her smile. He was going to be internally grateful to Chin for introducing her she was a vital part of the team.
"Hey I think we should be raising a glass to our rookie" Steve smiled proudly.
Kono rolled her eyes and blushed as the guys complemented her.
"Yeah cuz you really had out back you did a lot for us" Chin grinned as he patted her knee.
"I'd do it again were Ohana" Kono smiled as they all took a drink from their bottles.
The team sat around laughing about everything that had happened enjoying each other's company when Steve rose from his seat.
"I'm going to grab another anyone want one?" He asked as he headed to the fridge in his office.
"I'll help you!" Kono said cheerily as she followed him.
Once alone Steve turned to Kono.
"I really am very proud and grateful for what you did Kono, you really proved yourself as a member of this team and put yourself at risk for us" Steve explained.
"I'm a tough cookie…I must say my escape plan was ace I knew Wo Fat would be leered in by your state." Kono laughed.
"Yeah I did think he was going to shoot me"
"Hey like I said …I got this!"

I sort of hinted at a potential McKono relationship which I was a huge fan of before Adam joined the show and although I am normally a Kodam fan I do enjoy reading McKono stories so what do you guys think about a potential follow on story that may explore McKono or a McKono story in general?
