Steven's sword and shield vanished in a puff of smoke as he travelled down the warp stream.
"Ugh, I need a shower when I get home," he said as he wiped mud off of his arm.
Steven was excited to get home and go to bed. Even though he was a Gem, his half human side still needed those precious 8 hours each night.
Steven started to get a little puzzled. There was something wrong with the warp stream.
"It shouldn't take this long to warp from Mask Island back to the temple," he told himself aloud.
Steven poked his head out of the warp stream to check if there were other warps activated. Perhaps they were interfering with his trip. As he looked out in the void, it finally hit him. He wasn't moving. He pulled his head back into the warp stream and thought about it for a minute. He figured there might've been something wrong with the warp pad at the temple.
"Well there's no use just staying in the warp stream like this," he figured, so Steven held up his arms, closed his eyes, and focused. He felt the stream shift and pull him the opposite direction.
The warp pad lit up and he was right back on Mask Island. Luckily, the rain finally calmed down. He stepped down and began looking around the island again. He had no clue what he was looking for, but if he walked enough, he knew he'd figure out something.
Across from him on the shore of the beach, he saw something shining. He ran up to it to investigate.
"Oh, you're kidding me. I must be getting careless," he laughed to himself.
Below him, in the sand, was the gem he was just battling before.
"I totally forgot to bubble you! I'm starting to get careless," he laughed.
As Steven leaned over to bubble the gem, it began to glow.
He knew it wouldn't be that easy.
The gem floated up and out came the regenerated form of the monster.
Steven's smile turned into a frown as he summoned his shield and prepared for round two.
