Chapter 5

.

After Mimi was released she cleaned herself up. Rebecca was already asleep by this point, so Mimi carried her daughter home. The rest of the family would want to see him soon, but she was too ashamed to see her father in front of everyone. Maybe later she'd have to put up a front, but for now she just wanted to take her baby home. On the way to her car Mimi saw general Douglas, chairman of the joint chiefs. They didn't say anything, but both remembered their meeting, less than a week ago.

.

Douglas introduced her and Pierce. They'd met before, but this was the only time they would all discuss their plot.

.

Douglas: It's important that you be in the same car as your father Mimi. If you can't, it will attract too much attention to ask which car your father is in.

Mimi: I know. Either way I'll find out.

Pierce: I'll destroy my cellphone immediately after my mission, then escape.

Mimi: I can't promise that my mother will fall in love with you again.

Pierce: Leave that to me.

Mimi: General, are you certain you can control Allen's administration after this is over?

Douglas: I couldn't organie a coup under your father, the soldiers respect him too much. But Allen will see the reality and capitulate. If not, there are other ways.

Mimi: Promise me that if you can't, whether I'm executed or not, that you will get Rebecca into the Arks.

Douglas: You have my word. I know this isn't easy for you, for any of us really. But the three of us are doing what needs to be done.
