Shem in the Forest.
Disclaimer: I do not own Dragon Age
As Tamlen watched the Shemlen run through the forest underbrush he whispers harshly at Kallian.
"Hurry up Lethallan. I don't want them to escape," Tamlen says not taking his eyes off of the running Shemlen.
"You try doing this up in a hurry," Kallian spat back at him, "It's not easy"
Unable to wait Tamlen jumped down into the hunter's path, drawing his bow and nocked an arrow, looking directly at the lead man.
"Look what we have here," Tamlen says tauntingly, "A couple of trespassers. Here, in our woods"
Kallian finally got her armour back on and slowly descended into the clearing next to Tamlen.
"I bet you didn't know that this forest belonged to the Dalish did you?" Tamlen continued as Kallian joined him by his side.
"We didn't!" cried one Shem, "We didn't know that this was your forest!"
"Yeah," another agreed, "We just came here because we heard there was treasure in a nearby cave"
"You lie!" Tamlen accused, "We've been over every inch of this forest, there's no cave nearby"
"It's true!" the first one said, "We found this in the entrance"
The man threw a statue over towards Tamlen.
Tamlen lowered his bow, but Kallian kept hers trained on the lead Shem, and he picked up the statue.
"This… is Elvish!" Tamlen cried in wonder, "I recognise the carving style"
"What a wonder it is to see such bravado in one such as yourself. It is heart-warming, truly, to see that there are yet humans willing to risk a slow and torturous death in pursuit of our most sacred treasures!" Kallian spat furiously.
"We didn't know they were yours!" the third Shem said loudly, "The cave was abandoned and we didn't go in very far, there were spiders in that cave"
Kallian looked at Tamlen with disbelief in her eye, and Tamlen nodded in agreement.
"Don't lie to us you dirty Shem," Tamlen spat furiously, "You admit to searching for Elven treasure and now you will go back to your village to chase us out so you can loot the rest of that cave!"
"No, no! We won't!" the first Shem cried out in protest.
"You're right," Kallian agreed, "You won't"
And with that both Tamlen and Kallian let loose their arrows into two of the Shem, Kallian nocked and shot a second arrow into the last fleeing Shem.
They all fell dead.
Tamlen and Kallian held their poses, new arrows nocked, in case any Shem revealed themselves to claim revenge on their kind.
But none came.
"Well that was fun," Kallian said sarcastically, "I didn't think that even Shem would be that desperate to steal our history"
"I don't think they knew," Tamlen admitted, "They seemed genuinely confused as to us being here"
"Don't tell me you're going to mourn over a Shem's death?" Kallian teased Tamlen
"I won't," Tamlen shrugged off the comment, "But what do you say we check out the cave they mentioned? We're both very good trackers and should be able to retrace their steps in no time"
"I'm not sure," Kallian said, suddenly unsure "They did say spiders, and who knows what else may be in that cave? I think we should go back to camp and report it to the clan"
"Now you care about the clan's opinion?" asked Tamlen, "You of all people? Come on, I just want to check it out"
"Fine," Kallian sighed, "But when we get back, you're getting in so much trouble you seth'lin!"
"Maybe that's what I want ma sa'lath," Tamlen teased before running off down into the forest.
