Chapter Six.

"Breanna?" A muffled voice whispered into the silent room. The darkness from behind my eyelids was shattered as I opened my eyes, cringing in pain. I pulled the comforter over my head and cuddled back into bed. "Breanna, you gotta get up. We're leaving in an hour."

"But Leah, I didn't get enough sleep last night."

"Probably because you stayed up all night fangirling with Jared about that dumb movie." Leah pulled the comforter out of my grasp and onto the floor, raising an eyebrow down at me.

"Clueless is not a dumb movie, its iconic!"

"Yeah, yeah. Best movie ever." She rolled her eyes and started for the door. "Get dressed. Breakfast will be done in five minutes." I huffed and layed back down into the soft bed, relishing in the feeling comfort it brought. The memories of last night were flooding back to me like a jet plane and I felt myself becoming increasingly sadder by the second. Getting the texts from -, throwing up all over the bathroom floor, being bathed by Leah. I shivered and wrapped my arms around myself. Having her see my ugly body without any resistance. What if she tells someone? Shit, what if she tells everyone?

"I don't hear any moving in there! Do I need to bring a bucket of water to get you up?"

"No thanks! I'm just picking out my clothes." Before I could get lost in the warm feelings the blankets I sat up and started for my suitcase, quickly pulling out a black crewneck, a pair of black leggings, some plain white socks, and my only matching undies and panties set, hot pink and very self-esteem inducing. After pulling my outfit on and attempting to fix my hair, I made my way out of the bedroom and into the small kitchen, my stomach clenching in hunger as I smelt eggs and bacon. Paul looked up from the skillet, smiling at me halfheartedly.

"Toast will be up in a sec and Leah's almost finished with the bacon." He nodded towards the chair, his dark eyes excited. "Have a seat."

"You guy's need help or anything?" He shook his head and turned back to the eggs. I shrugged and sat down, letting my body relax into the plush seat. "So, where is everyone else?"

"Dominic is in the shower and Jared is getting your dad ready." Leah pulled the sizzling bacon from the skillet and layed it onto a paper towel covered plate, laying it on the table in front of me. "Did you sleep well?" I shifted uncomfortably. The same nightmare from the hospital had plagued my dreams before I had woke up in the middle of the night, and stopped afterwards. I knew the scene very well; it had happened around the time I was – and had accidentally broken a cheap vase she had gotten from the thrift store. Being on the drunken stupor she was, I had been slapped hard and started crying. But the similarities stopped there. Mother had never comforted me after hitting me, and especially hadn't given me any sort of hope that she loved me. I had just been a reminder of my dead beat father, as she would remind me over and over again. And tentacles? What the fuck?

"Well enough."

"Papa Terry is in the hou-ouse!" Jared exclaimed as the door opened and in he wheeled my dad, who looked a little annoyed.

"Looking a little aggravated this morning, I see."

"Jared kept singing show tunes. The same ones over and over again. Do you understand how repetitive that can get?" He gruffed and leaned back into his wheel chair.

"Jared, I thought we banned show tunes after what happened at Embry's." I looked from a smirking Paul to an embarrassed Jared with blushed cheeks with confusion. My brow furrowed.

"What happened at-uh-what was it-Emeril?" Paul put the eggs on a plate and layed them onto the table next to the bacon, handing me a plate with four pieces of buttered toast. I took it gladly.

"Embry," He corrected with a chuckle. "And do you really want to hear this story?"

"I said I did, didn't I?"

"I might have heard you wrong."

"I don't think you did." I picked up a handful of bacon and sat it onto my plate and slid some scrambled eggs next to it.

"Do you really, really want to know?"

"Yes, Paul." Leah snorted as she sat down next to him, pulling out her phone to text someone. Her face brightened immediately before she stood up and ran quickly into the bathroom.

"Okay, so one morning Billy Black asks me and Jared to come help his son, Jacob, rebuild the garage after a big thunderstorm. So we get there and Jacob is there looking all pitiful at the heap of metal that use to be the garage. He loved that place. He was in it in the morning before school, in there after school, well after he cooked him and his dad dinner, and all the time on the weekends."

"Okay, so Jacob loved his garage." I scooped up a spoonful of scrambled eggs and slid it into my mouth. It tasted like heaven. "And it's Jared and I if I may correct you."

"Anyway," He ignored my comment as dad laughed. "Jared and I start moving the wreckage and Jacob starts flipping out on us, calling us cock sucking traitors and pig headed assholes. After a while he starts throwing rocks and sticks he finds on the ground and I start losing my temper. Imagine a big cougar taking down a baby deer. Jacob's nose was busted up and gushing blood. Jared was so scared of what I was going to do he grabs me by the shoulders and belts into show tunes. Jacob and I just sit there looking at him as he sings his heart out."

"That's it?" He holds up his hand to shush me.

"I'm not finished yet." He bites into a piece of bacon and swallows it whole. "Anyway, Billy Black has already come out by then. Actually, the Clearwaters came out to. Jared didn't notice anybody else but us and had already started another song, and started doing the dance they do to the monster mash crossed with twerking. I fucking died, oh my god. He looked so stupid. Here, I'll demonstrate the dance." Paul stands up from the table and starts putting his arms apart and back together like a zombie, wiggling his butt in and out and twirling his feet in two opposite directions. Laughs barrel out of my throat before I could stop them.

"Oh my god, stop before I die from lack of oxygen." Paul abruptly stops and sits back down, a wide grin on his face.

"Anyway, Sue pulls out her phone and starts recording the whole thing. But then Jared notices. His face was priceless." Jared sat down with a full plate and rolled his eyes.

"Okay, okay. Can we stop story time with Paul already? I didn't know what else to do!"

"So you decided to sing and dance to stop them? Couldn't you have just pulled them apart?"

"I panicked!" As I bit into another piece of bacon Leah appeared out of the bathroom with a dry and clothed Dominic, his lips puffy and her eyes dazed. My eyes widened as I put two and two together. Oh shit, did they just? I looked down at my plate as I noticed a small red spot on her collar bone. Oh my god, they did. They had sex. They did the deed.

"You okay, sport? You look a little out of it." I looked up with wide eyes at my dad before shaking the expression off of my face. He didn't need to know they did the deed.

"Just really enjoying this bacon. It's the bomb." Leah snorted as she sat back down into her seat, slapping the back of Paul's head as his hand dove for her plate.

"The bomb? Really?"

"Heck yeah, the bomb."

"So what's the plan, man? When are we leaving for the Rez?" Jared looked questioningly at Paul as he engulfed half of his helping off eggs with one swallow. Geeze, did he ever chew? Last night he ate most of the popcorn without even using his teeth. Paul shrugged and turned to Leah, whose mood suddenly turned sour. Her full lips turned disdainful.

"What, am I the only one who has a damn schedule around here? It's not that hard. After breakfast everyone finished packing up, we load the car up, pay the motel bill, and leave."

"Before we leave, Jared and I have to check the police station downtown." They turned Sam in. Oh, right. I felt a nervous sweat prick my forehead as I ate a spoonful of eggs, and I looked down at my legs and I felt my chest start to tighten. No, not right now. You will not fucking do this right now. You will have a good breakfast with your dad and these nice people that have shown you nothing but kindness. How damn selfish of you to act like this. My chest didn't listen to me, though, and five second later I shot out of my chair and into the bedroom, locking it behind me as a tear started to roll down my cheek.

"Breanna, what's going on?" Leah knocked lightly on the door as a sob racked my body, my breaths coming out in soft pants.

"Nothing, Leah. I'm perfectly fine. Don't worry." My hands shook and my vision wavered. Fear coursed through my body and I moaned in pain, wrapping my arms around myself as I started to rock back and forth.

"Breanna-"

"Can't you see I'm fine? Just go. Please." I exclaimed, my heart pounding even harder. I could taste vomit at the back of my throat.

"Alright then. Come out whenever you're ready." As I heard footsteps head back to the kitchen I felt another wave of panic slam into me. So fucking pitiful, I told myself as I sobbed. So fucking pitiful.
