hello! Im happy with how this chapter turned out! It may be mostly in game stuff, but I'm still happy with it. Plus it moved the story along, so bonus. PLUS IT'S EXTRA LONG! :D happy day! I also feel like people were in character! THIS IS ALL GREAT!
Sorry, just expressing my happiness...
no review time, sowwy.
Omid's eye's widened and I took a slight step back. Rebecca looked panicked. I turned my torso to look at Luke, who was still by Nick.
"Luke!" I yelled, "Luke!"
"Yeah girl?" He asked, oblivious to the seriousness of the situation.
"Rebecca's water broke!" I exclaimed.
His own brown orbs widened as he rushed to our side, "SHIT! DOES THAT MEAN WHAT I THINK IT MEANS?!"
"Luke!" I hissed, "Keep your voice down!"
"Sorry," he apologized, "Sorry, just... Rebecca, how does it feel?"
Omid helped Rebecca stand up as she responded, annoyed, "It feels wet! That's how it feels!"
Kenny emerged form his tent with a unreadable expression on his face, "What's going on?"
"I-" I stuttered, "I think the baby is coming!"
Rebecca groaned in pain and Omid awkwardly put a hand on her back in an attempt to comfort her. Kenny helped her stand up right as Jane took a step back. Everyone was wide eyed and the only sound came from Rebecca. I noticed her eyes water up. Whether it was from pain or panic, I couldn't tell you. But I was really feeling bad for her right now. I heard Nick curse under his breath and Sarah stayed in her silent trance, but now looked a bit more scared then she had before. Mathew was still crying form the loss of Walter, but stayed more alert due to the situation.
"Not now," Rebecca painfully begged as more tears gathered in her eyes, "Not now dammit."
"Hey," Jane said in almost a scolding manner, "You cant do this right now! We don't even have a safe place for this!"
Rebecca looked at her with annoyance, "Do you think I wanted this to happen right this minute?!"
Bonnie sighed, "Please don't!" She ran a hand through her hair, "Mike and I found a local map. There's an observation deck not far and there's a gift shop. We should scope both places out. Mike and I can take the gift shop." Mike nodded in agreement.
"I got the observation deck," Jane put in and left. She faded out into the distance.
Bonnie looked uncertain, "Maybe someone should go with her."
"I'll go," I volunteered. When I went to go grab my gun I felt a certain one eyed man put his hand on my shoulder.
He shook his head, "Nope."
"Rebecca needs Omid and Kenny, Mathew and Sarah are grieving, You and Luke need rest, and Bonnie and Mike are already doing something else." I pointed out trying to find all my strong points in the argument, "I'm perfectly fine now and I'll have Jane watching out for me."
"She has a point," Bonnie agreed while walking alongside Mike, "We'll be back in awhile." And with that they were gone.
"And so will I," I said as I started to chase after Jane.
I heard Nick sigh and curse under his breath again, "Just be carful and if things get bad you get back over here."
"Got it!" I yelled back.
I grabbed my gun and held it at my side. I followed Jane's footsteps that were imprinted in the snow. My grey shirt was loose so the air traveled up my back leaving goose bumps on my skin and a slight shiver down my spine. I straightened my hat and kept walking. I eventually found the observation deck, and Jane was overlooking the distance. She almost looked at peace. She looked tired. She almost looked less scary. I didn't want to interrupt her moment, but it was interrupted when her eyes landed on me.
"Hey Clem!" She called down, "Get up here!"
I nodded and obeyed the order. I jogged up the stairs and saw her opening the gate thingy with a nail file. I crouched down by her and looked at her fiddle around with the lock and the tool. She let out a small victory cry when we heard the lock click. I looked inside. The place was cramped, but if it were cleared out it could be a good spot. I looked to Jane, who gave me a small smile. I returned it.
"Well," I muttered, "Looks like we found a place in case the gift shop is a bust."
"Good thing to," Jane smiled, "Because-" She stopped midsentence, her brown eye's widened and she looked over me.
I rose an eyebrow, "Are you-"
"Shit!" Jane cursed and kneeled, "Get down and hide."
I was confused, but obeyed anyway. I crawled behind one of the nearby canon's while Jane hid behind something inside the deck. I was still confused, but then I heard a clink. clink. Clink. Clink. I had no idea what it was. I peered a little bit and saw a boy, not horribly older then me, with a bag. The sound came from his leg brace. He was stuffing his white bag in the garbage. My eyebrow's knitted in confusion. He muttered something under his breath that I couldn't understand. I positioned myself a bit better, but the wood underneath my feet creaked and he quickly spun around, gun in hand and aimed out.
My breath stopped and my heart picked up. I tried holding still, thinking he couldn't see me. Sadly, we was to sure of what he heard.
"Out," His accent said. It wasn't southern like Luke's or Spanish like Carlos's. This was different.
Hesitantly, I stood up and held my hands up, I inched closer to him, "Hello?"
His eye's softened behind his cracked glasses when he got a good look at me. Probably because of my age, "You little girl?"
"Yeah," I breathed, nervously glancing at his weapon "Can you please put the gun down?"
"I don't want to shoot," He said, wavering slightly, "Especially a-" He stammered for a bit before saying something in a language I didn't understand. He translated, "Little girl."
I noticed Jane move in the back round. I tried to keep my eye's off her, so that the boy wouldn't know she was there. I looked at the boy again and cautiously said, "What's your name?"
He looked hesitant before saying, "Arvo."
"Arvo?" I asked, rolling the name around in my mouth as he gave me a slight nod. I looked at his weapon again, "Well, Arvo, will you please put the gun down?"
"I don't want shoot," He repeated.
Before another word could be said, Jane came from behind Arvo and disarmed him. She turned him around and pointed his own gun at him.
"Back up!" She demanded, giving him a stare. He did as he was asked, and put his free hand up. That's when Jane noticed That he had the white bag in his other hand. She motioned to it, gun still in hand, "Drop it."
Arvo, seeing no other choice then to do what the woman said, put the bag down and said, "Please, my sister needs-"
"Shut up!" Jane hissed at him, "Clem, check it."
I gave a nod and did what she told me to. I unzipped it, and my eye's widened at the sight of what was inside. Medicine. Months worth of it. Bottled pills and syringe's filled the bag from bottom to top. Oxycodone, anti depressants, ibuprofen, every fucking thing you could ever need! This could easily last for months, maybe a year if we didn't get into a horrible amount of trouble. My hand reached into the bag and pulled out the first bottle of pills I saw.
"Anything good in there?" Jane asked. I didn't have to answer, she took a small glance down and did a double take, "Whoa..."
"Please!" Arvo said, "No! They're for my sister!"
Jane squinted, "Sister or not, we could really use that stuff."
"Please no!" Arvo repeated, "She wakes up with pain and-"
"Big fucking deal," Jane was unmoved, "We all have pain."
I looked down at the bag. Jane was right. We needed it. Rebecca's about to have a baby, Luke's limping from the beating he received from Carver, there may be some anxiety pills in there that could help Sarah, and Nick just lost his eye! I looked up at Arvo, images of his sister ran through my head. But he could be lying. We really do need this stuff. And the thought of any disgusting infection getting into Nick's eye was making me twitch.
"I'm sorry, Arvo," I stated while closing the bag, "But we need this stuff."
He gave me a look and said something I didn't understand. Jane must've felt threatened by this, because she grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and jerked him a bit, bringing the gun closer to his face. Her eye's burned into him.
"How do we know you wont show up again?!" She questioned.
"Jane!" I exclaimed, slightly surprised, "Let him go! We've done enough already!'
Jane seemed to be debating my words for a second. She pulled him a bit closer and sternly said, "I don't ever want to see your face again! Understand?!"
Arvo quickly nodded and Jane released him. He limped away, without his bag. I noticed Jane's grip on the gun tighten, her knuckles white from it. I was about to ask if she was alright but she chucked the gun hard on the wooden floor, causing me to jump slightly.
"Shit," I heard her whisper. She used her hands to cover her face before muttering, "How did it come to this? Threatening a stupid kid?" She let out a heavy breath before pinching her nose and turning around, "Go get the others"
I thought about asking if she was alright, but she seemed to want to be alone. I walked down the stairs and passed Luke. We didn't stop to speak, we both just gave each other a nod and he went up the observation deck to help clear stuff out of the way while I walked back to check on Rebecca.
YAY! Good chapter? As I said, mostly in game stuff, but I was still happy with how it turned out/ This one feels a lot less lazy.
Well, we are nearing the end it seems, almost done with episode four.
