Draco had changed a lot over the years. He no longer was the arrogant, snobby, pure-blood son of Lucius Malfoy. He was Draco Malfoy, the defender of the truth, and the seeker of knowledge. After the Battle of Hogwarts, Draco lost all of his friends, shattered were the standards and ideology that he held so close. Draco spent hours and hours alone, in a state of depression. He became a regular at Leaky Cauldron in which aided his addiction to alcohol. It was in one his intoxicated states that he decided to see Harry Potter.

About a year after the destruction of Voldemort, on a foggy night, Draco found himself in front of Number 12 Grimmauld Place. He went up to the door and knocked. A part of him hoped that nobody would answer, another part longed for someone to talk to. He waited a few minutes and decided to turn back when he heard the door open. There stood Harry Potter, "Malfoy?... What do you want?" said a confused Harry, "Pott…eh Harry, I…ah..I was in the neighborhood and just wanted to see um…yea I think I'll go now" mumbled Draco, " wait ...Malfoy, would you like to come in for some tea?" asked Harry, "you don't mind do you?" asked Draco, "no, everyone is asleep and I wouldn't mind company" said Harry as he let Draco in side.

That night changed the world for Draco. Harry and Draco sat for hours drinking and eating, talking about everything and anything, reminiscing on what could've been a good friendship between them. That night they both decided to let bygones be bygones. Over the next couple of months Draco came to an understanding with Ron, Hermione, Neville, and many others that he or his father had wronged. His parents did not like this new Draco, especially his father, but Draco didn't care. He traveled for a time. He studied philosophy in the Levant , studied potions and herbs in the far east, and even studied history in Africa. It was in Egypt that he met his wife Astoria. Astoria was a few years younger than Draco and was in Egypt working for Gringotts. Draco and Astoria married a year later much to the delight and dismay of Draco's parents. Astoria was from the long line of pure-blood family Greengrass, but she shared Draco's new outlook on life.

Not all the Malfoy's adjusted to life in the post-Voldemort world. Lucius Malfoy was a proud man, who in the past twenty some years had been ridiculed and broken down to a shell of his former self. Even though in the eyes of the public he seemed like a reformed citizen, inside Lucius yearned to be relevant again, no matter the cost. Lucius spent some time away from home when he encountered a strange wizard at a tavern in Tbilisi. The wizard dressed strangely and seemed to be feared and even loathed by the tavern goers. He sat down next to Lucius and spoke to him for a while, the wizard told Lucius he belonged to a powerful clan of wizards from India. Lucius noticed a few more Indian wizards in the tavern. The two men spoke for a time and Lucius could tell that this strange wizard was someone extremely important. The Indian wizard offered Lucius whatever his heart desired, in exchange for help and intel. Lucius seeing this as a chance to restore himself in to a position of power accepted.
