As the day for her wedding approached, Anna spent more and more time submerged in the details. Elsa helped when she could, but she only saw Anna for a few moments everyday. Kristoff was also spending much more time with Anna, working out the details of the wedding.
One of the results of this was Olaf was getting lonely. He had spent time with Sven, as Anna and Kristoff spent more time together. But with Kristoff spending that time with Anna, Sven met Olga in the meadow one day and was spending most of his time with her now. So Olaf was pretty much left alone. It didn't take long for this to come to Elsa's attention.
"Good morning, Olaf! And how are you this morning?" asked Elsa warmly.
Olaf was caught by surprise, as he hadn't noticed Elsa. "Oh, I'm sorry, Elsa! I did not mean to ignore you."
Elsa could see that something was wrong. "Olaf, you aren't your usual happy self lately. What appears to be the problem?"
"Ohhhhh, nothing, Elsa! Just…..nothing. Have a good day Elsa!" said Olaf with forced gusto in his voice that didn't mirror his actual feelings, as he sadly walked away.
"What do you think is wrong with Olaf?" asked Captain Smith.
"James, I think our friendly little snowman is feeling lonely. He used to spend hours with Anna. And when Anna wasn't available, he spent his time with Sven. But now that Anna is so busy planning for her wedding and Sven has found Olga and spending more of his time with her, they have very little time for Olaf," responded Elsa.
"What can you do?"
"When I see Anna tonight, we'll discuss the situation. I think I'll have a solution to his problem tomorrow."
And Elsa was as good as her word. At dinner, Elsa talked to Anna.
"Anna, I ran in to Olaf today. He didn't seem like his usual jocular self," said Elsa.
"I noticed that too, when I talked to him briefly yesterday. What do you think is wrong?"
"I think Olaf is missing a friend, Anna,"
"Me?" Anna asked sadly.
"Yes, I think he is missing you and Sven too. Remember, he used to spend most of every day with you or Sven. But now that you are so busy planning your wedding and Sven is spending more time with Olga, neither of you have the time for him. Even before, you were spending more and more time with Kristoff than with Olaf, and rightly so."
"So what can we do?"
"Help me design a companion for him; someone who can spend all her time with him. I'll create her, and surprise Olaf with her tomorrow!"
"That's a great idea, Elsa!"
And the two sisters put their heads together to design a suitable companion for their friend. They decided to call her Katrina.
The next day, in the morning right after breakfast, Elsa and Anna sough out Olaf.
"Hello, Olaf! How are you?" asked Anna.
For a second, the joy returned to Olaf's eyes as he saw his friend. But then reality quickly set in and he said, "Hi, Anna. How are the wedding plans going?"
"They're going well," then Anna changed the subject. "Elsa and I noticed you were a bit sad, so we have a surprise for you."
Olaf had a blank expression on his face, as Elsa approached.
"Hello, Olaf. I'd like you to meet a friend of ours. Her name is Katrina!" and Elsa stepped aside.
Olaf was dumbstruck. Katrina, a snow woman, walked up to him and said, "So you are the Olaf I've heard so many nice things about! How do you do?"
Olaf stammered, "I'm ah, I'm fine, Katrina, and how about you?"
"Oh, okay. I'm feeling a bit lost in this big city. I don't know where anything is!"
"Olaf," Anna interjected, "why don't you show Katrina around? I'm sure she'd like that."
Olaf's eyes were happy once again. He felt he had a new friend, someone to share his day with him. "I'll be happy to! Come on, Katrina, let's explore together!" And the two went off talking happily. Elsa and Anna smiled at one another as they did.
"Mission accomplished, Elsa," said Anna happily.
"It is. It's good to see a happy Olaf again!"

Soon thereafter, it was Anna's Wedding Day! The details of this day are contained in the fan fic Frozen Treachery .
After the happenings on Anna's Wedding Day, Elsa had to deal with Ludwig. For his role in the events of that day, she banished him forever from Arendelle, and he was put on an Acropeligos ship to be taken to a distant island to where he could live out his life.
/
Hans had settled in as 'King' of Notos. He knew every inhabitants name, and would walk the island.
You know, this island really isn't so bad! But it certainly is beneath my royal bloodline to be 'King' of, he thought. Still, he looked forward to the ships that came from Acropeligos once a month to get news.
But this current month, there was something different about the Acropeligos ship, as he met the ship's Captain at the dock.
"Captain, I notice you have some guards on your ship this month. Valuable cargo?" Hans asked.
"Indeed! I have been entrusted with finding a habitable, isolated island for a banished prisoner to live his life out on."
"Well, you can't get much more isolated and habitable than Notos! What crime was the prisoner banished for?"
The Captain hesitated, but maybe he could finally get rid of the prisoner, and still fulfill the requirement levied on him. "He was found guilty of trying to usurp the throne of Arendelle."
Hans' heart raced a little. So the prisoner was guilty of the same thing as me! We should be able to get along nicely! "Why not leave him here in my company? He certainly is a long distance from Arendelle, and should not pose any threat to them!"
The Captain thought about it, and then agreed. King Hans was right. Ludwig was about as far away as you could get from Arendelle. He wouldn't ever pose a threat to them again.
Soon, Ludwig was ushered off the ship, and brought to King Hans 'castle'. Ludwig was in fear of his life.
"So, Ludwig, you tried to usurp the crown of Arendelle for yourself?" asked Hans officiously.
"Yes, your Majesty. But I would never do that to you!" Ludwig answered defensively.
Hans laughed, and talked in a much friendlier voice. "Relax, Ludwig. I am sure you wouldn't risk your life to take over Notos. I too have been banished from Arendelle for the same reason!"
"Wait a minute! Are you the prince that strung along Anna, and was going to execute Elsa for being responsible for Anna's demise?"
"Yes, that's me!"
"That was such a perfect plan! I'm surprised it didn't work. Then, at least, Arendelle would have had a REAL Monarch on the throne, instead of a loving, kind, and caring mother to all! I cringe when I think of what Arendelle would do, should they ever be attacked! Elsa isn't made of the stern stuff needed to be Queen!"
"I agree, Ludwig! It appears we have much in common. Come, let's discuss our plots in detail over a brew, and analyze where the weak spots were."
Ludwig readily agreed, as Hans took him to the Notos Tavern. They could learn much from each other, as they were well on their way to becoming best friends.
