Hey. So here's the new CH. Now listen up. I'm a little worried about this one because I've been feeling a little sluggish and the holidays are coming up, and I'm feeling really annoyed because... I just hate cats SO very much right now.

Enjoy.

Setting Sun

The sky was becoming much darker as the sun vanishes, making my long gloves and unbrella soon to be unnecessary. I think about how long it feels like the sun is in the sky. But once it starts to fall I feel a little sad. Sad because it seems like I've waisted the day away. This is ridiculous though because I'm a vampire and I can't be out in the sun.

"Do I look okay, Marcy?" I turn to see Simon walking out of my cave wearing a tuxedo similar to his suit. It had a red bow tie but was a much darker shade of black. He also had a new pair of glasses on.

"Simon... you look great." I say as I fold my unbrella and stab it in the ground. I wanted to joke around and tell him that he looks dorky, but he's nervous enough as it is.

"Oh good, I was worried that I looked dorky or something," Simon says causing me to supress a laugh. "You look very pretty by the way."

"Oh, this? It's nothing special," I say as look down at my very plain dress. It's a bright shade of red with thin shoulder straps. Besides the color it's pretty boring. To be honest I got it as emergency food. Althogh, I think it looks kind of good with my long black gloves. Maybe I'll keep these on after all. "So, ready to go to the Candy Kingdom party?"

"... Yeah," Simon says reluctant to have me carry him. He then takes off his jacket so it doesn't get wrinkled.

"Ah c'mon, we talked about this already," I say as I put my arms under his and fly away. As we make our way to the party I think about how we got to this point in such a short amount of time since the dungeon thing.

It started when we recieved a package two days ago.

It was in the afternoon the day after the dungeon thing when I found a package from Bonnie on my front porch. The white rectagular box had a invitation on it to a big party at the Candy Kingdom. The invitation was addressed to me and Simon.

I immediately called up PB.

"Marceline, I was expect-" she began before I cut her off.

"What is this exactly, Bonnie?"

"Well, I figured that Simon would like to see more of the world besides your house. And I heard about the little adventure he had with the guys, so I thought he would enjoy something more... quiet."

"So your throwing a party for him?"

"Yes and no. Some of the prinesses wanted to throw a party for him in gratitude for saving them. But I thought he might not want to be put on the spot so I'm just throwing a regular party."

"That sounds... that sounds great for him. But what if someone mentions-"

"Don't worry. I going to make everyone take a royale promise not to speak about the Mushroom-War or anything."

"..."

"Marceline, is this okay with you?"

"Oh, yeah. It's perfect."

"... Marcy, is there something wrong?" Bubblegum asked me this even though I knew she knew that there was so much that was wrong with whats been going on.

"... Yes, there is something wrong. But not for much longer. Thanks for this," she didn't poke and prod my answer, instead she filled me in on some of the details of the party. She also mentioned that Finn and Jake are going to be there and that I should talk to them soon. Which I did.

Jake's the one who answered the phone first. "M-Marceline! H-hey! I-uh-I mean we... we are...WE'RE-uh-um really, really, really, real-"

"Don't worry Jake, I slept on it and I'm not angry anymore," I said cutting off his trail of terrified babble.

"Really? Oh that's good! To be honest me and Finn were so scared we actually covered the house in garlic and got Shelby to dress up as a priest and-"

"Oh that's funny, next time you put Simon in danger again without checking with me first I'll flay you alive without hesitation. See you at PB's party!" I said cheerfully and hung up.

I feel a little bad for being so hard on him. After all they did show Simon a fun time and let him see a little of the world. But that's also one of the reasons I was angry at them in the first place.

I guess I should apologize to Jake when I see him at the party.

After that me and Simon opened up PB's package and found two suits for Simon; one just like his normal one and the other the tuxedo he's wearing now. We also found a new pair of glasses and ointment for the cut on his hand. After that it was just two days of Simon being nervous about the party.

Although, he wasn't the only one who was nervous. I decided that this party would be as good an opportunity as any to tell him the truth. I don't know if it's the best way to do it or not, all I know is that I can't be selfish anymore and keep lying to him. At least before he finds out the truth that he'll never go back to the only world he knew he'll see that he can make many friends here.

Should I tell him tonight after the party? He might be too tired.

As I thought this me and Simon were already in sight of the Candy Kingdom. When we were close to landing I spotted Finn and Jake at the entrance of the kingdom. I flew over and landed us by them.

They were both wearing semi-fancy clothes too as was described in Bonnies invitation. I didn't get a good look at Jake's because he immedietly hid behind Finn after seeing me.

"Hey SI! H-hello Marceline," Finn says with a little fear in his voice.

"Don't worry. I'm not angry anymore... for real this time, Jake," I genuinely say without adding any terrifying threats. This seemed to work seeing how Finn relaxes and Jake comes out from hiding.

"We're still really sorry about... ya know."

"Apology accepted. So, you guys ready for the party?"

"Yeah! But first we have something for Simon," Finn says as he pulls something out of his pocket.

I couldn't quite place the item until Simon spoke up. "Oh! That's the pendent I found. The one that gave me this," he says as he lifts his right hand showing a almost healed cut thanks to that ointment. I then recognized the purple-red necklace from their dungeon adventure.

"Yeah, we took it to make sure it didn't have any bad magic biz in it," Finn informs us.

"So what, it's just a normal necklace?" I ask while taking a closer look at it. I can see a weird, fancy, symbol in it. It was like two bars next to each other. It kind of reminds me of the pause symbol on a VCR.

"It isn't normal at all. It... um... well it... here, just watch," Finn then put the necklace on Jake. It's apparent that the pendent was made for a much bigger person seeing as how the actual jewel lays on the ground while he wears it. "Okay Jake, now shape shift your body."

Jake then starts to shake trying to change his form to no avail. "This thing won't let me change!"

Me and Simon where both a little confused as to what was going on until Finn clarified it for us. "The pendent keeps you in the same form as you wear it. It doesn't protect you from getting hurt or anything, so it's not very useful for an adventure or anything. But since it's not cursed we thought it would be okay to give it back to Simon, as a reminder of how awesome was in there."

Jake then took off the pendent and handed it to Finn who in turn handed it to Simon. "Thank you Finn and Jake," He says as he places the necklace on himself.

"Don't thank us, SI. You're the one who found it," Finn says.

"Yeah! And totes made the dungeon callapse! Which was awesome," Jake adds in.

"Well, it was pretty exciting," Simon says as he looks down at the pendent in his hand. "Marcy, what do you think? Does it make me look 'awesome?'"

"Ah, yeah! You look cool," I was a little surprised when he spoke to me. When we started talking about the dungeon I was reminded of how bad I acted that whole day and that made me feel guilty. But that's the past and this is now. "Totally not dorky."

"Oh... thats good," Simon seemed to relaxe. his anxiety about the party is leaving him. I take this new self confidence as an opportunity.

"Simon, how about you go on ahead."

"Really? Are you sure?" Again, I'm reminded of how much I've been sheltering him from the world.

"Yeah, just follow the candy people to the party," I tell him. To be honest though I wanted some privacy with Finn and Jake. I'm going to tell them about telling Simon the truth.

"Okay then, I'll see you soon," Simon says as he walks over to the Candy Kingdom entrance.

As I stare at his back as he walks with a group of guests with ease I feel a similar relaxation that he must have felt moments ago.

Everything is going to be alright. Simon's going to be okay.

. . .

I walked out onto a balcony to get some fresh air and privacy. Luckily no one else is out here. When the cool night air hits me I realize just how hot and cramped I felt in there. I was doing great at the party at first, but after a while of seeing so many unfimiliar things I just felt so claustrophobic.

I shouldn't feel this way. The party is actually a lot of fun. Although it is a little messier than I had previously thought. My tuxedo is covered in streamers and confetti. I don't really mind though. And all the people are very nice to me even though I'm the only human there.

I guess Finn has set a very good example for everyone.

Although, there was one thing that did bother me.

I don't know what a "Lumpy Space Princess" is exactly, all I know is that I hate it.

I lean on the balcony's railing as I take a few breaths and focus on my pendent to calm myself down. After a moment I'm fine.

... Your not here just to make friends, remember?

I think this to myself to remind me of the task at hand. I also start to mutter to myself for encourage ment. "I have to do this. I have to do this. I have to do-"

"Do what?" A voice says from behind, startling me. I turn to see Princess Bubblegum wearing a plain pink dress with her hair in a pony tail. "What is it you were saying to yourself?"

"Oh, nothing. I was just trying to calm myself down."

"Ah, are you having a small xenophobic episode?"

"No... well... kind of. It's not that serious though. I've already calmed down."

"That's good."

"Oh, and thank you for the glasses and suits."

"Well, your welcome for the glasses but Raggedy Princess is the one who made your those. You know... I think she has a crush on you."

"Oh, well... that's... um," I was absolutely unable to say any thing coherent.

We stayed silent for a few moments, just looking out at the candy streets, before I absent mindedly spoke up. "Princess Bu-"

"Please, Bonnie is fine."

"Well Bonnie, I wanted to..." I feel like I shouldn't say anything but I still continue talking. "... I wanted to ask you if... I think I need to do something but I'm not sure if it's..."

"... if it's the right thing to do?"

"... Yes"

"Simon, all we can do is what we think is right."

"What if I don't know if it's the right thing to do?"

She didn't answer my question. She just looked at me for a moment before speaking up. "Simon, Marceline cares for you deeply," This took me by surprise. "And whatever it is you think you need to do, just know she'll still love you," She says as if she was able to figure out exactly what I've been thinking.

"... Thank you for the help. I really needed that."

"Your welcome, Simon."

"Heh. Look at me. Asking for help from someone so young."

"Heh... yeah," that's all Bonnie said before leaving to go back to the party.

I take a few more lung fulls of fresh air before I go back in. I'm not going to stay for the party though. I need to find out about why the crown was here. I need to know if what I saw outside the dungeon was real. I need to find out the truth. And theres only one place I can find those things. The place where I first woke up here.

I'm going to do it. I going to the Ice Kingdom.

. . .

A freezing gust of wind hits me, causing my arms to cross, my body to shiver, and my glasses to get covered in some flying snow. I trudge on regardless.

It was easy to slip out of the party. Marceline hadn't even shown up yet. Which is good. That means that once I'm done here I mightstill be able to sneak back in without her knowing it.

I'm being ridiculous. I'm not going to find anything here... But I still need to check and make sure.

Surprisingly, it was not very difficult to get into the Ice Kingdom. It's cold, but I tolerate it even though it's dark out and all I'm wearing is a tuxedo covered in party junk. And there doesn't even seem to be any guards.

The only hard part was actually getting here. The Candy and Ice Kingdoms are very close to each other but I still hurried here to save time.

"F-finally m-made it," I chatter to myself when I get into the castle. It's still cold, but at least theres no more wind it make it worse.

Is this place really a castle? It doesn't look very royal to me.

Now that I'm here though, I'm a little scared. From what I've over heard about the Ice King, from the party, is that he is a weird and unstabble princess hungry lunatic. But, apparently he hasn't been spotted recently, so I might be okay.

I spot a recliner made out of ice and walk over to it. "So, this is your throne, Ice King. Your cold empty throne."

I walk to a table covered in framed photos. The first one I pick up is of Prin... Bonnie. She looks very angry at the photographer. I pick up another one only to have even more questions rise. I'ts a picture of the Ice King himself.

Why is he wearing the crown!?

I stared at that picture for I don't know how long. But eventually my focus started to drift to other aspects of the Ice King besides the crown, since I couldn't come up with any answers.

His white hair.

His blue skin.

His long nose.

Even the clothes he's wear...

Wait. That tunic. It's like the one I-

Simon...

I turn my head slowly in the direction of the disembodied voice, to see nothing but darkness.

... Come this way.

I feel much colder than I did before. But this cold wasn't just surrounding my body. It was going much deeper than that. Besides this, I walk towards the voice.

I don't know where I'm supposed to go but my body seems to. After walking through a few dark frozen hallways I ended up in the middle of a living room. besides the icy walls and floor it was a very average looking living room.

But there was one thing that was very odd. Well, three things actually. A light brown suitcase, a VHS tape, and the crown. All stacked on top of each other.

I grab the crown and set it on the table next to me to look at later. After I pick up the tape I realize something that gives me an odd sense of dred.

"This... this is my suitcase," I stare at the case mindlessly before remembering the tape in my hand. I look over at the television and VCR and numbly insert the tape.

The entire world seems to have gone silent as my shaky hand presses play. But once the the tape starts, it seems to loud.

"Hello, my name is Simon petrikov..."

. . .

It's cold out here in the Ice Kingdom. Not as cold as it usually is though. My red dress and long gloves don't offer me much warmth, but being cold is the last thing on my mind right now. Right now all I can think about is finding Simon.

After a few minutes of looking for Simon in the party I realized he wasn't there anymore. I flew around the castle looking for clues, I found a light trail of party streamers and confetti leading out of the kingdom. I followed them for some time before realizing where they were headed.

The Ice Kingdom.

I flew as fast as I could, knowing exactly where he would be. I stopped once I was inside the Ice King's castle.

"Simon! SIMON! WHERE ARE YOU!?" I get no reply, but I do see another small trail of party junk that I follow. Eventually I hear some voice that sounds like Simon, but it cuts into static. I reach the room the sound is coming from to find Simon, just sitting on the floor staring at the static on a T.V.

"Simon? Simon, what are you doing here?" He doesn't respond to me. He doesn't even turn to look at me. In the corner of my eye I see the crown sitting on a table behind Simon. "Simon, are you okay? Did anything hap-"

"Who are you?" Simon coldly says to me, giving me a heavy feeling in my chest.

"... What? What do you mean? I-it's me, Mar-"

"I said who are you!?" Simon yells as he stands up and turns to me. I see a mixture of anger, fear, confusion, and anguish on his face. "... You lied to me."

No... no. This can't be happening.

Okay, to be honest, I was thinking about cutting out the PB/SI conversation because I was worried she might come off as a bad person. But it's in there now. So, whatever.

Also, if there is any serious punctual errors, again I'm feeling sluggish and annoyed. Please don't think I'm trying to make excuses or anything. I still want lots of critism for this CH. So, please review.

Oh, and have a merry X-mas or any other great holiday. Somebody has to.
