# The Arks

Dar had the sand runner practically flying as they raced across the desert as they left a dust trail behind them. Dan shifted in his seat and said, "Where exactly are we going?"

"To Yon Safen. The city there has a large space dock for oncoming ships. We are going to steal one."

"Steal one? Yon Safen has maxed out security at all its exits and only allows the respected pilot of the ship to enter the dock. How in hell are we suppose to steal one?" Dan asked.

"At the time of two o'clock the guards switch shifts. When they do, we'll sneak in."

"Alright then. If you're sure." Dan said reluctantly.

They parked their sand runner in an abandoned ally to return to it later. They walked up to the space port, bypassing the local shops, and sat on a bench overlooking the ships in the port. There were numerous ships ranging from upper class yachts, to freighters, to fighter transports. Dan surveyed the available ships when he saw one that captured his eye and said to Dar, "That one." Dar looked to where Dan's gaze was and saw a former military style fighter transport. It was armed with laser cannons and plasma turrets and had a storage bay in the back. It wasn't to big and wasn't to small. Dar looked at Dan and said, "We'll have to take the military tracker out."

"Fine by me."

It was almost two o'clock when the guards started to thin. Residents were flooding in by the dozens which made it easier to slip in. Once there were no more guards the two snuck into the hanger where the ship sat. The ship had a dark, black color with tinted glass. It had a square cockpit, or bridge, where the pilots sat. The back was rounded as its hyperdrive laid there. They rushed over to the front entrance and into the cockpit. Dan sat in the pilot's seat as Dar worked in the back, trying to get the tracker out quickly. Dan looked at the controls and smiled. He took off his helmet and placed it next to him as he played with the controls a little. Dar rushed forward and tossed the tracking device out the entrance and returned to the copilot's seat and said, "Let us get out of here." Just then the doors to the hanger flew open and guards began to rush in. Dan looked on and said, "Let's go." He pushed the starter button that fired up the ship's quad engines and raised the ship. He put the landing gear up and sped out of the port. He push the throttle to max speed and flew off.

"Wooooo, yeah!" Dan yelled out in excitement. He flew past other ships, ignoring safety, and headed out towards the desert; strafing the floor and kicking up sand.
"Ha ha, yes! This is awesome!"

"Let's head home to plan our next move." Dar suggested.

"Right, right." Dan said as Dar put in the coordinates for their home.
