Miss it
It was just another charity event. Bruce found he was having a rare moment of peace, when his eyes wandered to the dance floor. There was his Elena dancing with a boy. What was she doing? He was fighting the urge to pull the two apart when Diana gently touched his shoulder.
"Bruce?"
"How did I miss it, Diana?"
"Miss, what?"
"When did she grow up?" He motioned toward the dance floor. "I feel like I missed it somehow. It was different with the boys. I had her from the start and somehow I feel like time moved faster with her."
"Oh, Bruce, you didn't miss it. It's still happening and you'll always have her."
Hours later Bruce carried the youngest Wayne to bed. The rest of the children filled off to their bedrooms. He eyes once again found his eldest daughter retreating to her room. He exited Lydia's room and looked across the hall to find that Elena's door was slightly ajar. He entered the dark room and sat on the edge of the bed next to his sleeping daughter.
"Goodnight Elena Martha, I love you, my little light." He kissed her forehead. He was just about to the door when he heard it.
"Love you too, Daddy."
