The First Date
It was a beautiful night. The moon was high in the dark sky, lighting up the terrace where the two heroes sat. Their dinner, while delicious, sat barely eaten and all but forgotten.
"Bruce, this was a very nice night, but what is this?"
"Dinner, I thought I made it clear when I asked you?"
"That's not exactly what I mean."
"You want me to quantify it, don't you?"
"It would be a nice confirmation; we've danced around it for a while now."
"No, Princess. I pushed you away. I'm the one that held you at arm's length despite our attraction," he said reaching for her hand.
"Then you won't mind saying it?"
"Okay," he took a breath. "This was a wonderful first date and if I can do anything about it will not be our last." He leaned in and kissed her.
From the window of the manor's kitchen Alfred threw a hand over young Dick's face to keep his cheer from the couple on the patio.
