A.N. Sorry took me so long to get this out. Sick, parties, holidays, sick, sick, sick, issues, lack of want to write... the list goes on forever. I know if you followed my twitter I did say I was going to have it out for Christmas along with first chappie of my new fic You're the Exception. (Which I'm going to post once I'm done here so go check it out lemme know your thoughts!) Um. Excuses on why not out then was because I was sick, got healthy after new years, only to end up really sick again. UGH! Never catching a break with that one. Then work was really heavy for a little while too.. Anyways without much more unwanted probably delay...
Please excuse any errors. I do attempt to make the story flow and try to remember everything that has happened. If you notice something wrong please inform me so I can fix it. Please excuse any grammer and spelling errors. I did try to make sure there wasn't any but I'm not the greatest in those two places.
Disclaimer!: I do not in any way own Inuyasha or any of the characters. Rumiko Takahashi (OH GOD I THINK I SPELT THAT WRONG! I AM A HORRIBLE PERSON!) does. They are AWESOME and I love them for it.

Chapter 20
Inuyasha had thought to himself on his journey back to the village from his tree. It was going to be his first time actually sleeping in this village, and he wondered how everyone would react. He was contemplating on going to his friends in his first place, since Kagome wasn't the happiest with him, but he wanted to make sure Kagome was safe. Inuyasha chuckled to himself, thinking of how his little Kagome always seemed to attract trouble.
The whole while he was thinking, Kagome was doing some thinking of her own. She felt she was being unfair, and after many advances from Kouga, she realized that she only had feelings for the half demon. She felt bad for what she had said before, she knew Inuyasha was probably torn and all she did was make things harder on him. Kagome sighed as she poked the fire, it had gotten late and her group had already retired to bed. She knew she should have gotten sleep, but sleep was hard to come by when her half demon wasn't near.
She felt horrible. She told him she would leave when he had said the same things he said to Kikyo to her. Kagome knew as a half demon he was going to have it rough, he had people leaving his life all the time. He never had anyone around, and yet she was going to deny him people in his life because her feelings were getting hurt.
Kagome, making her decision, got up from her seat to go for a walk. She was going to apologies to Inuyasha for being so selfish, and she was going to make him choose so she knew where she stood in his life. She didn't care if he chose Kikyo, or another woman, she just wanted to be by his side and him be happy.
Inuyasha was coming up upon the far side of the village near the shrine, when he spotted a dark haired beauty. He was going to make peace with her before he headed back to his mate. He didn't want his only friend he had for years to hate him. He felt as though he should just leave Kikyo alone until she cooled down, but he couldn't leave her in the state that he had. Walking quietly up to the woman bowed before a grave, he gently laid his clawed hand upon her shoulder, startling her.
"Inuyasha, what do you want this time? To tell me you were wrong again?" Kikyo sneered causing Inuyasha to flinch away. He regretted his choice to come talk it out with her, wishing he would have just waited.
"Kikyo, I'm sorry for what I did. Twice. I just can't help it. You should know how demons are when they find their…" Inuyasha stopped before he could finish what he was saying due to a slap that echoed through the night. Kikyo's head was bowed and he could faintly smell the tears that were starting to fall. Cursing at himself mentally, Inuyasha reached forward and pulled Kikyo into him. He hated it when women cried, he couldn't ever stand it.
Kikyo didn't want to be near him, she was starting to wonder if he got the thrill of hurting her constantly. Pushing him away Kikyo grabbed her bow and arrow that she always had with her, aiming it directly at Inuyasha. She didn't plan to kill him, she didn't want to kill him; she wanted to kill his stupid companion that was stealing him from her. She just wanted him to know that he was meant to be with her, that he was better off with her.
"Don't get any closer." Kikyo demanded, pulling the string back farther in warning. Inuyasha held his hand towards her; he knew he'd dodge it as he walked closer to her. Kikyo backed up walking around another tree.
They really weren't far from the Goshinboku tree, and through Inuyasha's attempts to reason with Kikyo, that was exactly where they ended up before Kikyo finally fired one of her arrows almost hitting the half demon making him back up, right next to his favorite tree.
"Kikyo, please let me explain. I don't want it to be like this between us." Inuyasha tried to reason some more, but it didn't work.
"Yeah, I'm sure. You're just going to sit there and keep playing my feelings over and over."Kikyo arched another arrow, preparing not to miss this time.
"No you don't understand. I want you to still be in my life, you were the first person to actually care for me despite what I am." Inuyasha was starting to see it worthless; he started hoping that if something happened to him the others could take care of Kagome for him.
"So, you want to be friends?" Kikyo asked lowering her bow making Inuyasha relax a bit, but not for long as she lifted it up and the fire burning in her eyes ten times more. "Well I don't want to be! I want to be the girl you're with and I'm going to make sure of it." Kikyo shot the arrow, as Inuyasha's eyes widened realization hitting him. The last thought going through his head as he watched Kikyo's body disappearing in the distance was Kagome being in danger.
Kagome walked towards the tallest tree she could see in the woods, figuring Inuyasha was probably there sitting up in a tree like he always did. She never understood why but he seemed to really liked sitting up high. Kagome figured it had something to do with his need to protect everyone around him.
Upon coming up to the tree, Kagome stopped dead in her tracks, her face paling. There pinned to the tree was Inuyasha, unconscious. Running over to Inuyasha, Kagome checked him for his vitals, only to realize there was no sign of life. Crying, Kagome went to touch the arrow that was sticking out of his chest, only to be shocked by it. Her teary eyes narrowed, knowing that Kikyo was the only one in the village who could have possibly done this. Using all her strength she grabbed onto the arrow and pulled it hard trying to break the spell on the arrow to pull it out. If Inuyasha was truly dead, she needed to bury him properly.
Kagome being too focused on pulling the arrow out didn't notice the half demon start to wake, nor did she notice the horde of demons that flew by, all looking for her, or the one that had actually found her. The long centipede demon slowly circled the girl who didn't notice it preparing to tighten its body and squeeze her to death, to get her reward. Chuckling to itself on how easy it was to fulfill its master's orders of killing the young miko, the centipede pulled her body tight against the tree. Glee filled it's ears as she heard the miko scream in agony as her body was crushed.
Kagome didn't give up though, more need to free Inuyasha coursed through her as she pulled one last time her power shooting out and disintegrating the arrow and shocking the centipede making her shriek away. As Kagome fell to the ground, she caught sight of gold. Inuyasha had awoken, only put to sleep by the arrow. Relieved, Kagome forgot about the centipede demon, which was furious her plan had gone wrong, and was heading towards her yet again. Inuyasha on the other hand, stopped the demon, his claws cutting down the center of its body from head to toe. Turning to his mate, Inuyasha pulled her close to him planting a small kiss on her lips. As he remembered the threat Kikyo had said before everything went black he pushed the girl in his arms away, turning his back to her so he wouldn't have to see what he was about to do to her.
"Kagome, why don't you just leave?" Kagome's eyes widened at his words, she was confused on what he was saying. He just kissed her just moments before and even before that he proclaimed loving her, his mate, and now he was telling her to leave? She took a step forward wanting to turn him around to face her, but before she did he spoke again. "You're just getting in the way of me and Kikyo's relationship."
"What are you saying, a few hours ago you were telling me you loved me and I was your mate. What the hell is going on?" Kagome yelled; l she was even more confused now with everything going on. She couldn't believe what she had heard already. How could someone say the love someone, only to tell them to leave and they were in the way of another relationship?
"Keh. You're as stupid as you look. No wonder you always end up in danger. I never meant those things I said; just leave before you make even more of a fool of yourself." Without looking back at her, Inuyasha ran off into the forest. He didn't want to hurt her, but he had to get her to leave. She was in danger anywhere near that village, and this was the only way he could protect her; by giving Kikyo what she wanted. No matter how much it hurt, no matter how much he wanted to take the words back, he knew it had to be done.
Kagome sank to the ground, tears flowing from her eyes for what felt like the millionth time that day. She could hardly believe what had happened. Not only did he admit all the things he said earlier were lies, but he also doubted her capabilities.
The sun had broke through the dark sky before she stopped crying; finally locking her heart up, deciding, if he wanted her out of his life, she'd leave and never return just like he wanted. Kagome didn't care anymore; she was tired of falling apart.
Upon entering the room they were permitted to stay in, why she wasn't sure, she started gathering her and Shippo's things. Kagome told Sango, her closest friend, that she was leaving and the woman was welcome to join if she wanted. Sensing the difference in Kagome, Sango decided to put off going back to her village for her training until they traveled that way again and Kagome could stay there for a while with her. Where she could watch her and make sure she was safe.
Kouga and Miroku had heard everything from Sango. She had told them how she disappeared after coming back from her walk with something bothering her, and how Kagome came back after the sun had risen with a distant look in her eye and being extremely guarded packing her things and readying herself to leave.
Kouga knew it had something to do with Inuyasha, and he was furious. He could smell the half demon on her; he could also pick up the faint scent of her tears.
The group had all set off in the direction of where Miroku needed to go; all deciding they'd stick together for a while longer. Even Kouga had refused to leave and go back to his clan, hoping that he could find a way to replace the smile Kagome use to wear all the time. She still looked dead though, and when she smiled at the jokes, the smiles never reached her eyes.
Inuyasha had set out to find Kikyo and declare that he was hers now, demanding she leave Kagome alone. He figured she would be near the cave of that weak human. He still didn't like the fact the human thought he could have taken his woman away from him, but now he had somewhat wished he would have, just so he could be with Kagome with no worries. Following the scent Kikyo had went in after she shot him to the tree he had come to the cave like entrance, only to see Kikyo standing next to a demon that looked strangely like the man from before.
Not thinking much into it, and assuming Kikyo was in danger, Inuyasha charged towards the two, only to bounce off the barrier that was around them. The man next to Kikyo laughed at Inuyasha's failed attempt to get near them, only causing the half demon to growl.
"Why are you here, half breed?" The man sneered, eliciting a chuckle from the woman in his arms.
"Keh, I came to get my woman." Inuyasha's eyes went to Kikyo, who was only glaring him down, before he spoke again. "Kikyo, I'm yours, Kagome is gone. So, just leave her alone. I chose you." Kikyo laughed, shaking her head.
"I don't want to hear you're pitiful lies. It's only a trick! All you want to do is get me defenseless so you can be happy with her after you do me over." Wrapping her arms around the man who was next to her, they started to float up, preparing to leave. "Hate to foil your plan, but that woman's head will be mine whether you're mine or not." They disappeared, only leaving her words ringing in the half demon's head.
"Fuck!" Inuyasha turned running towards the village, hoping Kagome was still there. Inuyasha had not run so fast in a long while, but he wasn't unhappy with pushing himself. He just knew he had to get to Kagome as quick as possible. He had to protect her, and he hoped that she'd forgive him and understand he was only trying to protect her before.
Snorting as he came upon the village inn, Inuyasha saw the irony in the situation. He had tried to protect Kagome by leaving her, and she was only in more danger now that he wasn't there, by her side.
Going to the room he knew she had for the night he slid the door open abruptly only to find her not there. The room was completely emptied of any evidence that his mate was there at all. Growling he turned out of the room marching to the room the guys had occupied nearby swinging that door open in the same manner as before; only to find that everything was cleared out of their room too. Panicking the half demon ran towards the village market, hoping someone had seen what direction his companions had went in. As he approached one of the less busy stalls, he saw a horde of demons flying above the village and knew instantly, they were headed for Kagome.
Taking off in the direction they were headed, Inuyasha hoped he'd make it to them before it was too late. So distracted in his quest to protect his mate, the half demon had forgotten one crucial detail, and the night was coming soon.
Though, the group had not been that far off, having run into thousands of demons shortly after leaving the safety of the village; they were tiring quickly. Kagome had even hoped Inuyasha would come to their rescue, even though she knew he wouldn't because he was with the girl he had chosen. He didn't want to see her.
When Inuyasha came bursting through the demons, slicing one behind Kagome, and embraced the young miko; the girl was stunned beyond belief in her spot. Inuyasha had come and saved her, and he was saying things she wasn't quite listening to. She felt as Inuyasha released her as he fought with the others against the many demons that still remained, and the new horde that had recently joined them. With Inuyasha and his sword that could kill a thousand demons in a swipe, they fought off every demon, but not without taking injuries themselves.
Kagome and Shippo were the least damaged of them all. They had been protected by the others most of the fight, only fighting when they had to without causing trouble for the others. Kagome being a master at the long bow her shots were few and were more effective on distanced targets, where the swarm was on top of them all Kagome could really do was shoot balls of her miko power towards a target when she knew she wouldn't hit one of her friends. Shippo was still a kid, so Kagome took care of him most of the time. Inuyasha had been the one who shielded them from most of the attacks, taking a majority on his own body and caused Kagome to worry if he'd be alright. They had been in many battles before where he had gotten hurt, but it was never this bad. The hole in his gut had ended up crippling his fighting and Sango and Miroku had to step up and help Inuyasha more.
Miroku was the second most damaged, though nowhere near Inuyasha. His love for the demon slayer had moved his body to take most of her blows. He knew she'd be able to handle them herself, but he didn't want to see her hurt. He had hurt her enough through the travels and he was starting to feel guilty, if only it wasn't for his cursed hand grabbing the bottoms of every attractive woman he met. Sango though did have her fair share of hits. She had taken flight on Kirara to attack the demons coming in with her Hiraikotsu, so there weren't as many demons on the ground, and had taken quite a few blows knocking her off Kirara, who always caught her before she hit the ground.
As Inuyasha put his fist into the last demon slicing him in half with his claws, the night fell, and with it the half demon turned human. Where most demons could withstand the injuries Inuyasha had taken, to a human they were deadly. The group members knew that the night of the new moon was his weakest night because of his transformation, for it had happened once on their journey together before they were attacked; and as the half demon's eyes grew wide and he fell to the ground gasping from the pain.
Kagome let out a shriek as she fell to her knees pulling Inuyasha onto her lap, cradling his head to her body as she stroked his hair in a calming manor. She kept whispering to him that it was going to be okay as she beat herself up, and blamed it all on herself. If she hadn't left, if she hadn't made him choose none of this would have happened. He was right all along. She was stupid.
"Kagome," Her eyes flew open at the sound of his rough voice. Using her free hand she quickly wiped her tears away as she looked at the sleeping form of the half demon, wondering if he really did speak or if it was all in her head. "You smell nice." Kagome was shocked, Inuyasha had never complimented her before, and yet here he was laying on her lap dying as he said one small nice thing. She gently touched his face, a small smile on her face as she looked down at the half demon she grew to love. Noticing he was asleep she finally looked up at the others of the group.
Miroku stepped forward and kneeled before Kagome, "We need to get out of the open incase more come. Let me carry him. We'll camp in the forest." He stated waiting for Kagome's okay before slipping his arms to support Inuyasha's body and stood back up. He waited for Kagome to be ready before leading the group into the woods near a stream he knew would be helpful in cleaning up the bloodied wounds.
After everyone cleaned their own wounds, and help clean Inuyasha's, they all settled for the night. Kagome decided she was going to stay up with Inuyasha to make sure he survived until his demon blood kicked back in. His head laid on her lap as she rested her back against a tree, running her hands through his hair. As the night carried on the miko fell asleep. Exhausted.
.~*~*~*~*~*~
"I could have had him! I could have had him, Naraku!" Kikyo shouted as she paced in the hidden castle Naraku had created. Naraku had thought he won against the half demon and had brought Kikyo to his illusion castle to give her everything he felt she deserved. She was his queen, and to find out that she still wanted the half demon angered him. "I could have had him and yet I decided to leave and he went back to that tramp!"
"Kikyo."
"You're right Naraku. I don't need him." Kikyo cut off Naraku; speaking to herself yet again. She started shaking her finger in his face as she laughed. "He has broken me one too many times. I will get my revenge, what's better than to break him? I know the perfect way too."
"What are you thinking Kikyo?" Naraku asked turned on by her evil thoughts. She laughed in reply as she walked out knowing exactly where to go to gather the materials she needed.
Kikyo had learned of a potion in her training to force demons to do what you want them to, it was to only be used in extreme situations of life and death. To Kikyo though, this was just as important. She had been torn over and over and this time, this time she'd make him tear the other girl. After she was gone, she would have Inuyasha all to herself.
Betrayal, hurt, heartbroken, and being lied to over and over; it was enough to break anyone. It was more than enough to make the weak go crazy, and it just so happened to the once sweet, naive Kikyo.
She cooked up a plan where she would be the only person left for Inuyasha to choose, she didn't think of the consequences, his feelings, or the man who had sold his body for her to demons. She only knew she was taking out the competition. As the potion cooked, she hoped it would be strong enough, hoped the half demon wasn't stupid enough to break through it. She knew he was weaker than most demons due to his human blood, and she didn't want to give him too strong of a potion and loose him forever.
After the potion brewed, the only thing she had left to do was to find a way to get the potion into the half demon's system. Summoning one of Naraku's snake demon's she told him what to do as she sent him alone to attack the group, knowing that he would not return but would get the job done.
.~*~*~*~
Inuyasha blinked away the sleep from his eyes, feeling the stiffness in his body from the intense healing he had went through since the sun rose. He hadn't slept so well, or in his human form, before in his life.
As his eyes adjusted to the brightness, he caught sight of the beautiful, caring woman he had fallen for. He vowed to never leave her side again, to always protect her. He reached up and caressed her cheek gently, careful not to scratch her with his claws, causing her to stir in her sleep. Leaning up the half demon took her lips with his. He had wanted to kiss her again since the last time, and he couldn't help the smile forming on his lips as he pulled apart, seeing her eyes start to slightly open.
Kagome blinked a couple times, trying to remember what happened before she fell asleep, only to jump realizing Inuyasha was injured, and human. When her eyes met yellow, she almost yelped in surprise. She hadn't expected him to be smiling up at her, nor expected him to be a half demon again. She was afraid he was going to die through the night and she'd see him lying there on her lap not breathing. Tears started to stream down her face, happy that he was alive still, as the half demon gently wiped them away.
She barely heard his whispers that everything was fine through her head full of sobs and shouts of glee. Remembering his wounds though, she calmed herself down and started to inspect all the bandages that covered his wounds, only to be astonished once again. There were barely even traces of the wounds that were once life threatening on his skin. As her fingers gently traced the disappearing scars, Inuyasha's hand took hers in his, pulling it to his lips.
"I won't leave ever again. I'm so sorry." He promised as both of the love struck beings had not realized they had acquired an audience while they were lost in their own little world, but with all happy things there is always a down.
As they were all caught up in the mushy scene and their own worlds, the demon Kikyo had sent had easily infiltrated the group, clamping down on Inuyasha's foot, pulling him up into the air. When the snake demon felt he was far enough from the group he flung the half demon up farther preparing his fangs with the potion, before he caught the demon as he fell, biting into his torso causing him to scream out.
Inuyasha couldn't believe that the puny demon had caught him off guard, let alone actually cause any damage to him. After he was bitten, he felt slightly weird but he didn't think too much into it as he kicked away from the demon and used the blood from his wounds on his claws to attack the demon, slicing him into many little pieces, before gracefully landing on the ground next to the group. He staggered a few times before catching himself as he walked towards the group, and once he started pulsing he knew something was terribly wrong. He knew he had to get away, only problem was he couldn't.
The group stood there confused as to what was going on, though Kouga was growling. Kouga could smell the scent change that was happening in the half demon and he knew his demon blood was coming out and knew that his Kagome was in danger. Kouga wasn't about to take Inuyasha coming back as defeat for the miko's heart. He knew that he was going to win in the end.
Inuyasha stood there growling viciously as it looked like he was fighting within himself. Kagome stood in horror she felt as though she was losing him, even though she just got him back. She started to walk towards him slowly, as if trying to show him she meant no harm. She proceeded with caution, stopping every few feet to make sure she was going to be safe. She watched as the whites of his eyes turned red, and his once gold irises turned blue as they shrank.
Kagome finally reached Inuyasha from where she once stood; her arms slowly reached out and grabbed his top, only to scream out in pain seconds later. Inuyasha grabbed her shoulders digging his nails in, preparing to rip her apart. He didn't want to; he was trying all he could to hold onto his sanity. Inuyasha wasn't sure what would happen if his demon blood took full control, all he knew is he wanted to rip apart the thing in his hands and feel its blood on his fingers.
Inuyasha heard someone saying his name, pleading that he stop. Looking through the eyes of the body he was losing control of he caught sight of his Kagome, and his nails dug into her arms. He saw the look of fear in her eyes; he knew he was the one causing it, but he couldn't stop. Inuyasha watched in horror as he saw the claws he once controlled dig even more into her skin. He watched as a tear streamed down her face, but he didn't expect her to push up against the pain to kiss him.
The kiss is what gave him the strength to take control once again. Once he could move everything to his own will, he removed his claws from Kagome's shoulders and hugged her tightly, never breaking the kiss. That kiss was everything to him, his hero, because without the kiss he never would have been able to stop and he would have lost the miko he grew to love.
Kikyo wasn't far off; she was hoping to watch the scene and didn't expect it to fail. She yelled angrily into the sky before she had the demon take her back to Naraku's hide away. She wouldn't be so careful next time. The potion just had to be a little stronger. She'd make sure she succeeded.
Naraku wasn't pleased at all. He had been trying everything he could to help the angel that saved him, and instead he made her a dark witch who didn't appreciate anything he did, didn't notice she had a guy willing to give her everything right next to her. He was still going to help her none the less, so when she came marching through the doors complaining about how the girl messed up her plans again, he went to her and wrapped his arms around her, attempting to comfort her.
Despite the crazed woman's infatuation with her ex, she relaxed into the arms of the man she had almost let herself fall for, feeling safer than she had in a long while. Breathing in his scent her whole body calmed, but her once evil thoughts came rushing back and her evil smile reappeared on her face. She did not care this time if she lost her half demon forever, she would make sure she'd get him next time. Kikyo knew all demons had a type of reset function when their mate died before they could claim them.
Pushing away Naraku, Kikyo marched back into her kitchen, preparing to make her second potion. This time she would be there and give the potion herself and to watch it all happen, and if she had to she would take the girl's life if her plan failed again.
.~*~*~*~*~
Inuyasha saw the demon hordes that belonged to Naraku and Kikyo land not too far from the group. The whole group, minus a wolf who decided to go back to his clan for answers, was resting after their very stressful time the day before. He wanted to end it all once and for all before something terrible happened again, he wasn't sure what had happened to him before, but he knew that he barely came back from it. He also knew that if there was a next time he may have less of a chance of coming back, and his Kagome could get hurt.
"Hey, I'll be back." Inuyasha told Kagome as he brushed her hair out of her face. "I'm going to check up ahead, I thought I saw some demons and we don't need another surprise attack." The girl meekly nodded, hugging the orange fur ball tighter to her chest as she watched the half demon leap away.
As he came upon the area he smelt the demons from, he spotted Kikyo standing alone by a tree. Letting his guard down thinking the priestess had come to her senses he walked toward her. He missed her and hated the war they were in against each other. He watched as Kikyo noticed him and turned, smiling his direction; he couldn't help but return the smile, opening his arms for a hug as he got closer.
"Oh, Inuyasha," cried Kikyo as she flung herself into his arms. She knew she'd have to play this just right; she would have him eating out of her hand. He was the fool who loved her and was denying it after all. "I'm so sorry for how I had been acting. I keep forgetting that you're half demon." She pretended to sob into his shoulder, knowing she had him when he started to rub her head gently trying to soothe her.
"Kikyo, I'm sorry. It's my fault for getting involved with you to begin with. I should have known better." Kikyo's smiled widened; she knew he'd blame himself. "I do love you, but I'm drawn to Kagome." She grasped onto Inuyasha's top pulling herself closer. No matter how mad, how upset she was with him, hearing him admit his love for her and the thing tearing them apart still killed her inside. "Even though I love you, and I was drawn to Kagome though by my demon blood, I still came to have strong, possibly stronger, feelings for her. Please, let's end this before someone gets hurt."
Pulling the capsule from under her tongue, she shoved it into her check preparing to bite it open. "Give me a kiss, one last kiss, and I'll stop everything. I promise… just make it like you truly mean it though." Inuyasha nodded, closing his eyes as he came in close. Kikyo smiled and bit down as their faces met, spreading the poison for demons through the kiss before being lifted up, away from the half demon.
"Kikyo," Inuyasha ground out, starting to feel the change start, "what did you do?"
"Wouldn't you like to know?" She sneered before smiling wickedly. "Looks like they're all showing up just in time to watch the show." Inuyasha's eyes widened as he caught the scent of his intended mate, knowing that once again he was putting her into danger and once again he was the danger.
"Kagome, go!" He rasped out once he caught sight of her. The other companions, in the group, grabbed hold of each of the miko's arms as they tried to pull back the fighting girl and retreat. She was fighting them, hoping to get to her half demon and save him again this time as she did the last. Kagome didn't want to lose him, after everything they had been through she wanted everything to work out for once.
"WHY!" The girl screamed at the duo in the air watching the scene below with joy. "Why can't you just let us be happy? Haven't we been through enough?" Kagome had tears streaming down her face, her eyes once again focusing on the half demon, whom was once again being taken over by his demon blood. He was going to turn into a cold blooded killer, she knew this and she had to stop him, stop him before she lost him. Pulling her arms harder from her friends she finally broke free and ran towards her half demon, wrapping her arms around him.
"Go…" Inuyasha ground out, barely holding on. He knew there was no return once he lost it; he knew it was too powerful this time. He didn't want her to be hurt and because of her stubbornness she was there, in his arms, in the most danger of all. He wished the wolf would come out and take Kagome away to safety, but from the small whiffs of air he'd been able to grab, the scent of the wolf was stale. There was no trace of him anywhere nearby. "Get away." He demanded; he needed her to listen for once. He felt his arms reach up to her shoulders, just like before, as his nails dug into her shoulders. His grasp on reality slowly slipping more and more.
"Never."
Kikyo's laughter rang out over them all. "How cute, he's almost completely gone and you're still stupid enough to have hope that he'd return. The best part is; the one you love will end up killing you." Ignoring the taunts from the crazed woman, Kagome hoped that once again her love for the man will free him from his binds as she pulled herself up placing her lips upon his once again.
It was too late, it was too powerful. Inuyasha felt as though he was standing in the window watching the scene play out before him as he watched his nails dig deeper into the girl's shoulders, the cackling laughter radiating through the body that he was trapped in. He watched as what used to be his body started to pull each of his arms, which was secured in the sides of her, apart - pulling her with it. Her blood splattered everywhere, and when he caught sight of her body broken, torn, and bloody lying dead on the ground, he snapped. He didn't fight the demon's wants to kill, hell he wanted to do it too. He wanted to kill the one who took his mate away first.
As he gained control of his bloodied body he turned towards the laughing woman in the sky, before he leaped towards her, nails elongated aiming for her chest. He was going to rip her heart out. He knew others were there, others who were preparing to fight him; but at that time this woman was his main concern.
To his displeasure, the man who had to woman in his arms pulled her away just enough that he grazed her before they disappeared into thin air. He knew she, a mortal, would die from the wound given time; so he turned towards the small group of stunned beings, chuckling. He leaped forwards preparing the cut them down, only to be hit and stopped in mid flight.
"Stupid half breed." The white haired demon said as he picked up the knocked out half demon.
"You humans are lucky Master Sesshomaru is going to spare your lives. We will leave you two pathetic humans to clean up the mess." A short toad like demon demanded before being summoned by his master as they took off into the air.
Sango turned grabbing onto Miroku as she let her body give out with her tears. Her friend was dead, killed by the man Kagome loved right in front of her and she hadn't done anything to save her. She felt horrible, but she didn't know what she could have done to stop it all. There was no way to save her without someone else being lost in the process.
Shippo having lost the only person he had left that was like his mother, crawled in between Sango and Miroku, crying with them over the loss of their friends. Hoping one day they will be able to take their revenge.

"Naraku, Naraku, I'm dying." Naraku held the priestess's hand as she lay on her bed. There was nothing he could do to save her, nothing he knew anyway. "Naraku, I need your assistance one last time. I have to make sure they don't survive next time." She gasped out as she reached into the table beside her bed taking out a vile of liquid and some leaves. "Find me a body, an empty one, they're everywhere. Then place these on it's chest and make it drink this vial."
"What is this Kikyo?" Naraku asked as he took both objects from her.
"I'm going to transfer my soul to an empty shell. You have to hurry before this body dies." Nodding, Naraku vanished only to reappear moments later with another human, laying them onto the floor and placing the leaves on the chest.
He hesitated, with the bottle in his hands almost to the girls lips. He wasn't sure if he wanted to let her live. He loved the woman, but she wasn't the same as she was before the half demon reappeared. He did love the evil side of her, but she was supposed to be his angel. He looked up towards the woman of his thoughts, watching as her breath became shallower.
Naraku figured, now that the half demon was gone maybe things could return to what they once were. Looking back at the body below him he tilted the head back and poured the vial into the back of the throat, stepping back as he heard the sound of wind. He watched as bright globs of light floated up out of Kikyo's chest heading for the body nearby. He never would have guessed that a soul was that big, but he watched as piece after piece floated over and absorbed into the body on the floor.
The body on the floor suddenly screamed as some of the pieces started to float back to Kikyo. He watched in horror, he thought it was supposed to work, he thought he did what she said. He wondered if maybe he was supposed to do something else that would ensure its success. He looked over towards Kikyo's body to see her breathing stop, the soul pieces finding a place to rest in the living body of the two.
As a deep breath was heard, the young woman he had captured stood from the floor. "I suppose this much will do. The rest is going to move on." She turned to the man who helped her multiple times, "Thanks I suppose. Keep in touch." She turned and walked away, leaving a stunned Naraku behind.
