Chapter 40 - The Truth

Amy moved around the small kitchen working on their dinner while Sheldon tried to both help her and stay out of her way, at the same time. The kitchen in 4A had always been small, really too small for two people to comfortably move around in and Sheldon had always wondered why Leonard and Penny didn't seem to mind. However now that he had rubbed against Amy for about the tenth time, he knew, it had to do with a new word he was learning about 'intimacy'. The small kitchen, Amy being so close to him, their bodies touching, it was both aggravating and comforting at the same time, plus it confused him because he liked it, liked it a lot.

Amy had just put the dinner into the preheated oven and set the timer when she finally relaxed, unconsciously stepping back into her husband, whose arms she suddenly found around her. It felt so good and Amy closed her eyes while she leaned back into him, feeling his arms take more of her weight, but still holding her gently. Amy still didn't know what was going on with him the last week, ever since the night of his party, for winning the Nobel, he was different, not completely different, but obviously different in a lot of ways she, his wife, would notice. She had told herself it was due to dealing with his new fame, but sometimes she wondered, what could make the man she loved, the man who hated change, change so much.

Sheldon had closed his eyes too, his face now tilted down and in Amy's hair, his arms holding her, feeling her warmth and her softness, taking in her smell. In a week Sheldon had found something he enjoyed more than anything else he had ever thought he had enjoyed before, it was being with Amy. He had determined he loved her after he lost her in his timeline, but now he knew, he knew he loved her, because he knew this intimacy he now had with her was something he wanted to continue and he never wanted to loose.

Sheldon kissed the top of her head, then kissed her just above the ear, it seemed so right to do that with her now and he found kissing her to be one of the things he enjoyed most about this new timeline, that along with her being his wife. His small kisses continued, until his lips were on hers, her lips returning his kisses, in a way that only made Sheldon want her more. He didn't know how long they kissed, but finally she pulled back and looked into his eyes. "Honey, can we sit down, my legs are a little tired from standing so much."

Sheldon was aghast for making her stand so long, taking her over to the couch, sitting down and taking her onto his lap, not thinking, just wanting to hold her. They stared at each other for several moments, Sheldon's arms around Amy, her barely holding herself up from being completely laying on him. It seemed like minutes but was only seconds before Amy's eyes got a bedroom look and she let herself lay on him her mouth naturally coming to his, their lips coming together like they did moments before. In his lap she was his, he possessed her and it made him drunk with power as he pulled her closer crushing his lips on hers.

Thousands of years of animal instinct now took over, although if someone would have asked him he would have called it 'Pon Farr', as he kissed Amy with passion. His hands naturally went to her back, one cradling her head gently pulling it towards him to make their lips press hard against each other, the other hand rubbing her back to sooth her. Everything else around him didn't exist, there was only Amy, her warm body on his, her soft sweet lips against his, the softness of her, her intoxicating smell and his need to for her to be his. He was lost now, his logical mind now completely subdued, everyone of his barriers to what was now happening gone because of the last week with her, his fear of touching, his fear bodily fluids, his fear sinning and his fear of intimacy, all gone.

As they continued to kiss, Sheldon now barely registered that he had one arm holding her and the other now gently rubbing the outline of Amy's breast, spreading heat through her body. Sheldon always turned Amy on, and he was certainly doing it now as his thumb suddenly moved over her now erect nipple gently circling it and making her moan. Amy immediately squeezed her legs together as a small orgasm spread through her body, it had been too long and her desire for him was immediately sending her to the edge. So it was like cold water being thrown over them when the timer went off on the oven, both of them stopping and looking at each other through dilated eyes, as the annoying beeping of the timer shattered the quiet of their living room.

Amy got off his lap, with his help, and went to the kitchen to take the food out before it burnt. Sheldon was now feeling extremely uncomfortable in his pants, so he went to the bathroom to try and lessen his discomfort. It was in the bathroom he looked at himself in the mirror, unable not to notice the arousal in his own eyes. He was confused, he had never felt this way before and although he knew he liked it, it also scared him, because he really didn't know what he would have done with Amy if they had continued. Even now he wanted Amy, these were feelings in him he never knew he possessed, as he tried to suppress such feelings all his live, and it made him question what was the right anymore. He was lost in his thoughts when he heard Amy say dinner was on the table, so he threw cold water on his face, then wiped it dry, knowing he wanted to go back to her. However as he reached for the door knob to walk through the door to this new world he created, he knew he never wanted to leave it, or the woman that was his wife in it.

Penny had told Leonard that her husband had gone to most of her social functions, but had never gone to one of these end of season parties, even before last year, because they always seemed to conflict with his work. It actually made things easier for Leonard, Penny could re-introduce him to everyone she worked with and no one would be the wiser that Leonard had no idea who any of them were. So no sooner than they entered the house Penny began taking Leonard around, talking to everyone, and showing Leonard off, to his surprise, because she acted like she was very proud of him. The only thing was, no matter how nice and friendly Penny and him were, there was an underlining awkwardness that permeated with the people Penny worked with, a sort of sadness and pity they seemed to give her. It was obvious to them why, everyone knew what had happened a year ago and everyone looked at their marriage as damaged goods.

The other source of awkwardness at the party and he was standing near the bar, talking to one of the new young female actors to appear in Penny's show. Arthur (Art) Langston, was the shows producer, and it was obvious tonight he was talking up the new girl to hookup and that his lack of concern for Penny being there was because she had only been a simple conquest for him, a one night stand. It was also obvious, to Leonard, that Penny's mood changed as soon as she saw him, and he immediately lead her away from his view as he saw her tense.

Leonard now attempted to keep her away from the bar area as they continued to walk around and socialize, with some success. Penny seemed to calm and began again to introduce him to people he would probably forget as soon as they left that night. However he didn't feel bad about it, because by some of the reactions he got, he could tell they would forget him too, as their interest seemed to wane as soon as Penny told them what Leonard did. He saw Penny give him looks of apology at some of the lukewarm responses, by people she worked with, to her introduction of him. She had told him, on the way there, that some of the people she worked with were so full of themselves she couldn't barely stand them either.

After about an hour, Leonard excused himself to get them drinks, while Penny was in the corner talking to a couple girls from her show, that he could tell she actually liked and they liked her. He was glad she was distracted, as he went to the bar and as he waited, he watched the man, from the corner of his eye, who slept with Penny, as he talked to the young actress he had set his sights on for the night. Leonard continued to watch, out of the corner of his eye, as the actress say something to the man and then walked off, he saw was to the bathroom, then watched as Art ordered two drinks from the bartender who had just given Leonard his two drinks. Leonard didn't know why he stood there a couple minutes longer, maybe his hate for the man prevented him from leaving, but whatever the reason he was glad he did.

Leonard watched as Art got the drinks then to his amazement he saw the man put a pill into one of them, making the dark colored drink change to another less dark shade. Leonard racked his brain what could do that, and it hit him suddenly, there was a date rape drug that changed the color of drinks, it was, he thought harder, Rohypnol that was the name. There was also a side effect of taking it, he remembered, it made the person seem drunk to people around them, also the person drugged had trouble remembering what happened, and suddenly Leonard's eyes went wide. He remembered Penny telling him what happened to her, that night, her not remembering what happened or understanding why she would do that, when she was suppose to have had her one night stand with him. Anger welled up in Leonard as he now stared at the drink Art drugged and when he saw the girl come back to Art, he made his way over to them.

Caroline took her drink from Art, he had been so nice to her all night, a perfect gentleman, so she gave him a smile as she started to put the drink to her lips. However the next thing that happened shook her to her very core. "Don't drink that it is drugged!" Leonard said loudly, making Caroline look at him in shock.

Art was also in shock, shock at Leonard's outburst and shock that someone knew about the drink. "What the hell, who are you? What are you talking about!" Art tried his best to appear offended, though in reality he was suddenly scared.

Leonard now talked calmly, even thought dozens of people where looking at the scene he just created. He looked at Caroline and spoke normally, "I really believe the drink you have in your hands has Rohypnol in it, a date rape drug, please don't drink it."

There were a couple of gasps, and Caroline looked at him stunned. "How do you know that?"

Leonard turned to Art. "Because I saw him put a pill in that drink which slightly changed the color like Rohypnol does."

"That's absurd!" Art shouted.

"Let's see." Everyone turned to see a man in his 50's now stepping close to Caroline and Leonard. Penny told Leonard that the man was a network executive and the most powerful man at the party, when it came to her show. The man turned Caroline, "Miss what are you drinking."

Caroline knew who he was and immediately answered. "Rum and Coke."

The man, Sam Waterson, looked to the bartender and nodded. The bartender immediately now making another Rum and Coke, while now almost everyone at the party was looking on. The bartender quickly gave Sam the new drink and Sam put it along side Caroline's drink, there were a few gasps from the people close, making Art sweat and squirm. "Hmm" was all that Sam said at the two drinks obviously different colors.

Sam then took both drinks and looked at Caroline, Art and Leonard in turn. "I would like to talk to you all, if you don't mind."

"Sam this is some kind of mistake, you can't believe I would drug someone", Art protested to only get a look from Waterson, "I can get any girl I want." Art then weakly added.

Sam gave him a glare that shut him up, then he turned to the host of the party, "Is there a room I can use?"

The host nodded, "Down the hall on the left is my study." Sam told the host 'Thanks' then walked to the room, Caroline, Art and Leonard following, and once they were inside the door closed.
