A/N: Okay, since no one really knows what would really happen next, I decided to take a little Literary License in this chapter.

Chapter 50 - Resurrection

Blackness surrounded him and his mind, then it was like he ceased to exist, but for only a moment, until the blackness came back and it was all that he knew. Leonard's mind seemed to float in the blackness and he wondered if this was what being dead was about, blackness combined with a loneliness that seemed to come with it. He yearned for Penny, as he sought the memory of the feeling of her body against his and her warm breath on his cheek as she whispered his name, anything more than this blackness. It was such an intense feeling from deep inside, what he assumed was left, his soul, that he tried to reach out in the blackness for her and in doing so, he moved. In surprise he realized he had actually felt something, so he tried to move again, now feeling what he thought felt like his hands against his face. Leonard jerked his head up, out of his hands, and opened his eyes blinking as his pupils adjusted to the light, OF HIS OFFICE! He was stunned and slowly looked around in shock, he was in his office, not in a field in 1944 England, and then it hit him, hit him so hard his mind screamed to him it could not be true. Dr Leonard Hofstadter remembered, he remembered everything and he had to breathe slowly as he counted to ten, to hold back the panic attack that was on the verge of taking complete control of him. It took several minutes for Leonard to regain his composure then look at his computer to check the date time setting, it made him gasp, it was the day Sheldon left, the day they searched his room, and it was the day everything started and yet he remembered it all.

Leonard sat there again stunned, trying to control his racing heart, while looking around at how everything seemed the same, it was both comforting and scary, especially since he still remembered. As he calmed again, it had only been a minute before one thought boiled up in his mind, then like a explosion it took over his mind, screaming to be heard, 'SHELDON'. Leonard leaped from his desk and moved as fast as his short legs would allow, he had to find Sheldon and he had to find him now.

Leonard's secretary almost had a heart attack when Leonard burst through his office door, and she didn't even get a chance to say a word before he was out of the reception area and heading down the hall. He took the stairs to the basement, two at a time, and kept running to the room, making it half way down the hall when he stopped as he saw Sheldon walk out the door. His friend looked confused and in shock as Leonard had been shortly before so he now slowly approached, just staring at him as he got closer. Leonard didn't know exactly what to expect, Sheldon's expression unreadable and his eyes opened wide, so as Leonard got only a couple feet from the taller man, he stopped.

Sheldon stared down at Leonard, then suddenly realized the obvious, Leonard shouldn't be here, he shouldn't know. "You remember, don't you."

Leonard nodded, "You too?"

Sheldon nodded, "Everything. It all went dark then when I opened my eyes I appeared on the pad, in there." Sheldon pointed to the room he came out of.

Leonard just nodded then asked the question that was on both their minds, "How?"

Sheldon shook his head, "I don't know, I can only assume, that since we time traveled three times we became an anomaly for the universe, so when things were reset, this was the best the universe could do. During the reset, the universe must have just put all of us here, in one package, so you are all of the original Leonard's and I am all of the original Sheldon's in each of our own bodies."

Leonard shook his head now too, it was so inconceivable it was hard to believe it was real, "So we get to remember everything?"

Sheldon shrugged, "Again, I don't know. However, remember Leonard we as human beings made up a time scale to suit our short lives, the universe has its own time scale, so this might be only temporary as far as the universe is concerned, but for how long I can only guess."

Leonard's eyes got wide, "Penny! We need to find Penny."

Sheldon nodded, "Yes, I need to find Amy, too. Leonard do you know where she is."

Leonard smiled and nodded, "I know exactly where they both are. Come on." he then lead them both to the parking lot and his car.

Leonard normally never sped when he drove, because it would upset Sheldon, but now he was speeding, prodded on by Sheldon constantly telling him to go faster. They were over half way back to the apartment, on a long straight street, so they both didn't even see the unmarked police car coming the other way, or the u-turn it did to pursue them. Sheldon and Leonard both groaned when they heard the siren and saw the lights in the cars grill and showing through its windshield, knowing they were going to be delayed by the cop who was trying to pull them over for speeding.

There was no escape so Leonard quickly pulled off the road and into a department store parking lot, to stop, then turned to Sheldon with a worried expression on his face. "Sheldon don't say a word or even look at the officer. Penny put out an all points bulletin on you, when you were missing, so if they recognize you they will detain you, and maybe me."

Sheldon just nodded, "Okay." Then he looked out the window away from Leonard.

Leonard prepared himself and watched as the police car came to a stop behind them, then saw the door open and the woman with short blonde hair step out. He quickly un-clicked his seatbelt and threw open his car door in one motion, taking the policewoman into his arms just as soon as she reached his door. "Penny." was all he said before their mouths crashed together.

They finally had to breathe after a while and as they pulled apart Penny started to talk, "Leonard, I love you so much, you are never leaving me again, promise me, never again." she then started to kiss his face as she held him close to her.

Leonard returned her kisses, in between each saying, "I am never leaving you behind again, promise, where I go you go, forever." he then suddenly stopped kissing her and held her at arms length, just staring at her. "You remember?"

Penny had tears in her eyes, as she nodded. "My minds a little jumbled right now, but I think I remember everything, Leonard. It is so weird, it is like I lived two lives with you." she stared back at him.

"Are you sure you are okay?" Leonard was now worried.

Penny nodded, "I was hugging Amy in the apartment, with my eyes closed, and when I opened them, I remembered. It is strange but it is actually easy to tell the difference." she then smiled. "It is also sort of amazing, I got to marry you twice and spend two marriages with you ." then she got serious, purposely touching her belly. "but both of us agree this timeline is the best." she then leaned over to kiss him, as he put his hand on her belly, over hers.

"PLEASE, WE HAVE TO GO." Sheldon interrupted them, making them both look at him.

"I'm so sorry Sheldon. Of course we'll leave right now. I promise you she is fine." Penny answered, then turned to Leonard, "Honey, park and lock your car, we'll take my car to the apartment, it will be faster."

Leonard got back in his car to park it while Penny and Sheldon got in her police car, Sheldon understanding and getting in the back. "Sweetie, she is there waiting." she told him. She had to swallow to keep the tears back as she saw the hopeful look in his eyes.

Leonard hopped in the car and Penny got back on the road to the apartment before Sheldon responded. "Did you tell her anything?"

Penny shook her head, "No, I figure that is up to you. I just took off as soon as I realized what happened, everybody probably thought I was nuts, I left so fast, not saying a word." Penny then grabbed Leonard's hand and sighed, "By the way, what exactly did happen?"

Leonard shook his head, "We don't know, but Sheldon's theory is that traveling through time causes anomalies in time that the universe had problems with, so how we are now is the result. It might not be permanent."

"So we might not keep our memories." Penny said sadly.

"Not entirely." Sheldon said from the back seat. "All the memories directly from the other timeline would be lost, but you have already made new memories about what happened to you before, as we discuss them, so those will stay. If you talk about things that happened, you will continue to make more new memories that will remain even after the old ones are lost."

"So we won't loose it all, our other self's memories won't die, because we can talk about them and keep them alive." Penny said hopefully.

"Yes, that is what I think, I don't think you will loose your new memories about the old memories." Sheldon responded.

Penny smiled as they pulled into the parking lot of 2311 Los Robles, Sheldon jumping out of the car as soon as Penny put it in park. Penny watched in the mirror as Sheldon disappeared through the front doors of the apartment building, then turned to Leonard, seeing him staring lovingly back at her. "Leonard, I can't even begin to explain how much I love you." Penny then fell into his arms and started sobbing.

Sheldon didn't even remember going up the three flights of stairs to his apartment, it all being a blur as his mind could only concentrate on seeing Amy again. So when he reached the fourth floor landing, he stopped and stood looking at the door, trying to compose himself, he needed to do this right his mind kept reminding him. He realized that this was probably the most important day of his life and he needed not to screw it up, so trying to be calm, he stepped forward to grab the door knob, happy to find it was unlocked. Sheldon then walked through the door into his apartment looking for the person he desired over everything he ever wanted in his life, the person who taught him what love was really about.
