Tales of the Hagane Family

Chapter 10: "Movie Night"

It was the evening of Halloween in Metal Bey City, and the streets were already flooded with children, even at the early twilight hour of 6 PM. The B-Pit itself was appropriately decorated with spider-webs adorning the windows, and a row of jack 'o lanterns with twisted smiles sitting in the windows to greet all who passed by.

"I still don't know, Ginga.", Madoka said while applying the white makeup to her face to make it seem pale and lifeless. "Those jack 'o lanterns of yours seem a little inappropriate for kids to be seeing as they walk by."

"Madoka, relax. I'm sure they'll get a kick out of it. After all, everyone loves a good scare.", Ginga responded from across the hallway.

"They have slasher smiles on them, Ginga.", she retorted sarcastically while slipping the spaghetti strands of the black dress onto her shoulders.

"Just relax, no one's going to freak out or anything.", he assured her.

"Fine, but if we get any angry parents at our doorstep tomorrow morning, I'm letting you explain everything.", she threatened. Ginga mumbled something under his breath in annoyance, as Madoka threw her cape over her shoulders and turned around to face him. "Well, how do I look?"

Ginga looked up at her from the back of the VHS case he was reading, his jaw dropping when he saw what she was wearing. She was dressed as a vampire, with a jet black dress that just barely came up over her chest and hugged her waist, making her body seem like a beautiful hourglass with the most delicious of curves. The white face paint accented her delicate facial features with an eerie beauty to them. He blushed darkly with a dream-like look on his face.

"You…you look…like a dark angel.", he swooned as he walked to her and titled her chin upwards.

"Well, not quite what I was going for, but thank you.", she giggled, causing him to blush even more. "I thought you might like it."

"Like it? My sweet, I love it.", he said before leaning in and pressing his lips against hers. She titled her head to the side and closed her eyes, with his arms wrapping themselves around her waist. Their bodies drew closer to one another as he deepened it with his tongue causing her to moan and strike back with hers. The kiss continued as the world seemingly faded away until the doorbell made them break apart.

"Trick-or-treaters!", she shouted while running down the stairs. Ginga blinked a few times before coming to his senses and tossing the tape onto his bed, quickly joining Madoka downstairs and grabbing a large bowl of candy off the kitchen table. Madoka opened the door to see a group of young children standing there with open treat bags.

"Trick-or-treat!", they all called in unison. Madoka threw her cape back, revealing her painted face and bearing her fake fangs while hissing. The kids stepped back in shock.

"Wellllcome to the B-Pit, my pretties!", she spoke in a typical vampire voice, "Come and take some treats from my servant, Gingor." Ginga then came up beside her, imitating a hunchback and groaning while lowering the bowl so the trick-or-treaters could grab from it. The kids laughed at Ginga's unusual behaviour before putting the treats in their bags and running off to the next house. Madoka and Ginga both waved goodbye before quickly heading back inside to prepare for the next group.

A few hours passed, as kids came and went before the last group passed by, giving their thanks before running off into the night. As the two closed the door for the final time that night and stepped back in, Madoka tossed her cape aside and climbed the stairs with Ginga right behind.

"I'll be right back sweetie, gotta wash this stuff off, it's already cracking.", she said as she stepped into the bathroom and splashed her face with warm water. The paint easily flooded off her face and into the sink, though no one could've told the difference since both were pure white. She then took a towel from the rack and began rubbing it against her face. Suddenly, a pair of arms grabbed her by the waist, making her scream as they lifted her into the air. While she kicked and tried to get free, she heard a familiar voice laughing hysterically. Looking over her shoulder, she saw Ginga looking up at her with a mischievous grin plastered across his face.

"What's the matter, babe?", he asked, "Did I scare you?" She smiled back and swiftly thrust her heel backwards into his crotch, causing him to yell in pain and drop her while falling onto his knees and clutching his injury.

"Maybe just a little.", she snarked while walking out of the room. "I have to go get out of this outfit, my heels are killing me." He then leapt to his feet and ran after her, pulling her into a hug. She raised an eyebrow at his sudden actions. "Uh…something wrong?"

"Lose…the heels…keep the dress.", he explained in between pants. She smirked seductively and looked him in the eyes.

"Very well, my loyal servant.", she teased in her vampire voice. She kissed him on the neck, the dark blush returning to his cheeks, before heading to her bedroom.

As Madoka stepped back out, she breathed a joyful sigh of relief as her now bare feet touched the carpet. "Finally…those damn things were unbearable this whole night." She then looked around, wondering where Ginga had wandered off to. As she turned the corner, a light emanating from the living room caught her eye. He had to be there, so she crept down the stairs and spied him sitting on the couch, impatiently tapping his foot while looking at the blue screen of the TV.

"Yeesh, what's taking her so long?", he complained aloud to himself. Madoka huffed, clearly he had no idea how taxing it was to stand for hours in those heels. Not that he would, of course. She decided it was payback time, and got down on her hands and knees and began to crawl towards the couch. She softly snickered to herself to avoid his detection, as she reached the back of the couch and slowly rose up, before slamming her hands on his shoulders and loudly cackling. Ginga immediately leapt up and flew into the air shrieking, landing on the floor with a hard THUD. He groaned as he sat up, rubbing his back as Madoka laughed uproariously.

"What was that for?!", he asked angrily. She stopped laughing and smirked at him while crossing her arms and leaning her hips to one side.

"Did I scare you, babe?", she teased. He smiled.

"Just a little." She came over and sat next to him, resting herself against his shoulder and letting some of her hair fall across her face to make herself look as cute as she could. "So, what did you have planned for us?"

"This.", he said while holding up a VHS box that displayed a gruesome scene of a zombie devouring a police officer while a woman in nightwear ran from two undead dogs, the title reading "THEY CAME FROM THE GRAVE".

"Whoa, that movie's R-rated! We're only 14, how did you get ahold of it?", she said with a gasp.

"Simple, Masamune imported it for me, said it was the perfect flick to get a girl in your arms.", he chuckled. She giggled and poked him.

"So…are we gonna watch it or not?", she asked with a jovial tone to her voice.

"You want it, you got it.", he said while popping the tape into the VCR.

As the opening credits rolled onscreen, Ginga returned from the kitchen with a bowl of popcorn and a blanket. Placing the bowl on the armrest of the couch, he whipped the blanket and threw it overtop of them as he rested on the couch, placing Madoka on top of him and bringing the bowl down beside them. As they curled up together, the story began to unfold. Within the first twenty minutes, a horrifying creature made of decomposed flesh reared it's head on the screen and roared, causing Madoka to shriek and bury her head in Ginga's chest.

"Tell me when that thing's offscreen, okay?", she winced. He lovingly ran his hand through her hair to calm her, while laughing softly.

"Worked like a charm.", he thought to himself. As the movie dragged on into the night, the two became increasingly tired, Ginga being the first to yawn as the action onscreen died down for the next few scenes.

"When are we gonna get back to the zombie shooting?", he complained. Madoka then made a loud shushing noise so she could hear the hero's confession to his girlfriend.

"This is the best part.", she hissed, "Don't make me have to rewind." Ginga simply rolled his eyes. As the romantic confession played out on the TV, Ginga titled Madoka's face to meet his while giving her a passionate kiss, sending them both into a warm bliss. As the film's heroes were interrupted by a zombie attack, Madoka and Ginga continued, their attention was completely diverted from the film.

As the film finally ended with the main character walking off into the morning sun while cradling his lover's lifeless body in his arms, the young couple watching had fallen fast asleep. Ginga's arms were lovingly shielding Madoka from any nightmares that would dare to penetrate her subconscious, with the tape finally ending and returning to the blue screen. Ginga momentarily opened his eyes and saw the blinding light, making him groan and reach for the remote, shutting it off so darkness could fill the room again.

Satisfied, he yawned and returned to his slumber, enjoying the feeling of his beloved lying on top of him. The soft sound of her breathing hypnotized him, sending him straight back to sleep.
