Stiles woke up to the sound of his phone ringing. He looked at his alam clock. It was past 3 am. He looked around in the dark to see his phone across the room on his desk. He raced out of bed and grabbed his phone. The caller ID read "Lydia Martin" his eyes got wide as he accepted the call.
"H-Hello? Lydia?"
"Stiles?" She answered, her voice broken.
"Yeah, what's up?"
"You said to call you as soon as I got my results..."
"You got them?"
"The doctor just left." He could tell she was on the verge of tears.
"Do you need me to come down there?"
"Yes... Please."
"I'll be there in twenty minutes, okay?"
"Okay."
Stiles signed in and grabbed the ID badge for Lydia's room. On his way he ran into Melissa.
"Stiles?"
"Hi. I'm here visiting Lydia Martin."
"Again? Stiles this is a really hard time for her, a boyfriend isn't what she needs."
"Who said anything about that? I'm here to support her. All her friends have just.. just abandoned her and it's sad. She's amazing and I want to get to know her, even if she's terminal. Even if her test results came back and she's dying tomorrow. If she's gonna die tomorrow, I'm gonna spend time with her until then. This isn't some rom-com that has to end tragically or with a big kiss. This is just me meeting an amazing girl who happens to be sick, and whatever happens... happens."
"Stiles, I understand you want to be here for her. But-"
"Melissa she needs someone. She needs a friend. Someone to stand by her and help her get through this."
Stiles walked away before Melissa could say anything else. He walked into Lydia's room, where she sat on her bed hugging her knees. He sat on her bed and touched her knee. She didn't even look at him.
"Lydia? Lydia..."
She finally looked up, her eyes puffy and red from crying.
"Hi..." She said, barely any volume coming out.
"How are you?"
"I.. um.."
"It's okay, Lydia. It's just me."
"I have cancer..."
Stiles felt his heart sink into his chest.
"Are you serious?"
"Yeah.. I have leukemia."
Stiles stared at her, noticing she was about to cry. He grabbed her as tight as he possibly could and just held her and she began to soak his shirt with her tears.
