Uhhh...hi guys? Okay goodness knows if anyone is still reading this but if you are...here's chapter five. I don't really have much of an excuse this time except that I lost inspiration in this story for the longest time, I just couldn't get their characters right. But now, I'm re-watching SC and I think I can do a better job (hopefully XD) so I'm back. I'll try to upload the chapters more frequently not that Midterms are over and holidays are here...so yeah. I'm really sorry and like I said I don't know if anyone still reads this story but either way I'm going to finish it even if it kills me XD.
PS: I'm making some major changes to this story. Beacuse after reading the old one again, I found the whole thing too rushed, I'm going to try and let Amu and Ikuto get a little bit more reacquainted and give their relationship a slightly stronger foundation before they get their memories back, so yeah, hope you like the new additions!
RECAP: Amu and the girls are introduced, Ikuto can't seem to shake the feeling that he knows Amu but she's denying everything he's said. Have those two really met before? What kind of relationship did they have? Are they ever going to make up? Read to find out.
Chapter 5: Alley Fight
Ikuto's POV
I sighed as the bell rung, signaling the end of class, I could see Amu already rushing to pack all her stuff away and I just stared at her for awhile before sighing again.
"Amu," I said, letting her name roll off my tongue. It was eerily familiar, saying her name.
She didn't turn to me and I sighed again, "Amu," I called out, more firmly this time.
She still ignored me and I shook my head slightly before reaching out and grabbing her shoulder just before she could leave.
"Look. I'm in a rush to meet my friends. So will you please let go of me?" her voice clearly laced with annoyance.
I shook my head slightly, "Just tell me and I'll leave you alone."
She must've gotten frustrated after that, because she just turned and slapped my hand away from her shoulder.
"Can you just drop it? Even if we did meet before, what's past is past," Amu said, her tone wasn't flustered or angry like it had been throughout the time I was pestering her, it was completely cut off, with no emotion whatsoever, and I had to admit, it hurt that she was so distant.
"It's high time to move on," she said the last part so softly I wondered if she was saying it to herself or me.
With that, she causally strolled away, as if the last ten seconds didn't happen, leaving me rooted to the spot in shock.
I watched her as she walked over to meet her friends, the hyper orange colored hair one immediately hugged her as she laughed before they walked off.
Sighing and running a hand through my hair, I grabbed my school bag and slung it over my shoulder before walking out of class.
"Yo! Tsukiyomi!" I heard someone yell and turned to see Kukai running over with Nagihiko and Kairi trailing slowly behind, discussing something between themselves.
"Yo," I replied monotonously, raising my hand slightly in response.
"Hey Tsukiyomi let's go to that new café downtown!" Kukai said and I rolled my eyes.
"You guys go without me," I muttered, turning around to leave but Kukai grabbed me before I could leave.
"No way you're escaping this again. Come on!" Kukai said and dragged us all off towards the café.
Amu's POV
I sighed as I tied my hair up into a sloppy braid before tying the apron around my waist. Today was the first day of my part time job. I was working at this small café downtown, it just opened a week ago and I'd signed up for it when we first moved here in the spur of the moment. It wasn't as if we actually needed the money, we had more than enough, but I had nothing better to do and it'll be less suspicious for me to have a job since I already declared myself an orphan, having a part time job to support myself was only expected.
Just then, I heard the bell ring as a customer entered.
"Welcome to Midnight Roses," I greeted coolly before nearly dropping my notebook and pen in shock, because standing in front of me was none other than the man I've been trying to avoid for the past couple of hours, no, eons.
God dammit. And he was with Nagihiko, Kukai and Kairi. Can my luck get any worse?
Cursing under my breath, I bowed to them, "Good afternoon, please, let me show you to a table," I said as politely as I could, trying very hard not to grimace.
"Yo! Aren't you the new girl in school? Hinamori, right?" Kukai asked, smiling brightly at me.
Out of habit, I almost smiled in return but I managed to catch myself at the last second and plastered a cold mask on my face.
"Yeah," I simply replied, not turning around as I led them to their tables before handing them the menus.
"Uwahh! Everything here looks really good!" Kukai exclaimed as he scanned the menu.
"You're right," Nagihiko agreed, "Do you have any recommendations Hinamori-san?" he asked pleasantly.
"The strawberry shortcake is nice with an English Breakfast," I said, tapping my pencil on menu, rattling off what the manager had told me just earlier today.
"Okay then I'll have that," Nagihiko smiled as he closed the menu.
"I'll have a fruit tart with earl grey," Kairi said.
"I'll take a cheese cake with some iced lemon tea," Kukai piped up.
I calmly wrote down the orders before sighing and looking at Ikuto, only to find him staring intensely at me, "And you, Tsukiyomi-san, what would you like?" I asked.
"How about you decide for me, Amu?" he asked, smirking.
I growled a little and was about to shoot a rude retort at him but then I remembered my manager was watching so I calmed down and composed myself before sighing and scribbling down an order before walking off.
Ikuto's POV
I watched her go, a little stunned that she didn't put up more of a fight.
"That Hinamori is kinda cute huh?" Kukai piped up after she left.
I wanted to hit him after he said that but I reeled in my temper and just casually leaned back against the seat, letting a simple sound of acknowledgement.
"She's the exact person I envisioned to be like my sister, if I ever had one," Kukai continued and I found all my anger towards him dissipating as soon as I heard his intentions were completely platonic.
What the hell is happening to me?
The chatter continued as I zoned in and out of the conversation, my thoughts floating back to that mysterious dream girl and Amu over and over again. They had to be the same person, those eyes…there were no mistake, Amu was the girl in my dreams, but their personalities…they were so different. But I had a feeling in my gut that this wasn't Amu. Not all of her at least…it was more like a persona she puts up, a masks she uses to conceal her real self.
Just then, a plate was set in front of me, jerking me out of my thoughts.
"Here you go, one chocolate cake with hot chocolate," Amu said passively as she set the plate in front of me.
I blinked in shock. This…chocolate was my favorite. How on earth did she know?
"Not bad, how did you know I would like this?" I asked as nonchalantly, trying very hard to mask my surprise as I took a bite out of the cake.
She seemed to freeze for a second, horror washing all over her face. However, the next second, all the emotion disappeared from her face again as she gave the others their desserts and drinks.
"Lucky guess," was all she said as she walked away, slowly and calmly.
I watched her leave silently as I munched on the cake and in no time at all I was done.
Not wanting to stay around and chitchat, I dropped the money on the table and stood up, "I'll meet you guys at home. I need to clear my head," I mumbled before leaving, not bothering to wait for their replies.
Strolling down the street, I turned into a secluded alley before bringing out my wings and flying off into the sky.
Amu's POV
I cursed internally as I took off my apron. My two-hour shift had finally ended and I was more than prepared to leave after that whole chocolate incident with Ikuto.
How could I have been so stupid? I did it out of habit after years of being used to his chocolate fetish, but seriously? If I was going to pretend we never met before, turning up with his favorite flavor of cake on the first day of meeting each other wasn't going to help matters. I was frustrated and tired of this, I wanted to just tell him, tell him everything that happened, why I had to do it. But I couldn't. If I did...I couldn't risk hurting the people I love. And I know that he would have no mercy if he found out that I disobeyed his wishes.
I'd spent my entire shift worrying about it and now all I really wanted to do was go home and sleep.
Of course, luck wasn't on my side because as soon as I stepped into the alley I was going to take to go home, a voice called out to me.
"Hey you there!"
Smartly, I turned around to face them. There were three guys blocking my way out of the alley and I heard footsteps from behind me and I turned to see another three guys blocking my way home.
"What do you want?" I asked coldly.
"Hand over your money, girly, and we'll leave you alone," the middle guy said as he held out a large knife threateningly.
Sigh. Looks it's going to take a little longer for me to get home.
"What makes you think you can hurt me?" I asked tauntingly, dropping my school bag on the floor.
"You really think you can take on six grown men by yourself, girly?" the same guy scoffed.
"Yeah, actually I do. Wimps are the easiest to beat," I mocked, "After all you need six people to take down one person."
"You cocky little piece of shit," a guy behind me cursed and I heard him swing his fist forward and I easily shifted my head to the side, avoiding his punch before I reached out and grabbed the arm he was about to use to punch me and threw him against the wall before dropping his unconscious form on the ground.
I turned back to the other five men, who, by the way, were stunned still.
Smirking, I signaled them forward, "Who's next?"
The guy with the knife seemed to be the first to snap out of his daze as he swung the blade at me which, being the real smart person I am, I grabbed with my hand. And no, I don't mean I snatched the blade from him or grabbed the handle of the darn thing, apparently, I'm too smart for that because I grabbed the blade of the damn thing.
I winced as the blade cut into my skin and dug into my flesh but I ignored it, Angels had magical healing abilities, this small thing would heal up in no time at all…or so that's what I thought.
I punched him hard in the face, well at least hard enough to render him unconscious as he too crumpled to the ground.
My palm was throbbing a little but I ignored it and hit the other guy at the pressure point on his neck as he came charging at me, and he too fainted.
The next guy came at me and I braced myself for what he was about to do. His right arm swung out to punch me, but I was faster. I easily deflected his punch with my own hand before hitting him in the soft spot around his neck and he crumpled to the floor.
The next two guys came charging at me from different ends and I resisted the urge to scoff, they weren't very smart were they? They were traveling too fast; they wouldn't be able to change direction.
So, as they neared me, I calmly took a step back, causing them to crash into each other, effectively knocking both parties out.
I was grinning to myself for a second before I realized that something was very wrong, the cut on my palm was hurting, a lot more than it was suppose to.
I stared down at it and gasped in horror as I saw the wound had turned purple, blood trickling down from the side.
This…this couldn't be right, I-I couldn't get hurt like this! What on earth had they used?!
In my frenzy, I grabbed the guy who had I had punched in the face and I harshly shook him awake.
"You! What was on that blade?! Why can't I heal properly?!" I screeched, shaking him harder with every word I spoke.
Even in his half conscious state, he managed to smirk at me. There was nothing magical about this guy, a few seconds of probing at his, and all the other goon's, auras had told me that much, yet no mortal weapon could harm me like that.
He coughed out blood, though he still managed to keep that disgusting grin on his face, "Ah, Miss Hinamori Amu, our famous Fallen Angel," he said sarcastically.
I froze for a second at that title, but managed to snap out of it, "Who are you?!" I demanded, shaking him again.
"I am but a humble messenger," he smirked, spreading his hands out in mock ignorance.
Then, he moved up to whisper in my ear, "Akanoko sends his complements," he said and before I knew what was going on, I felt a sharp pain travel through my waist and I cried out in pain.
Looking down, I saw the blade from earlier sticking out from my abdomen and I felt my head spin.
Poison…the cursed blade was definitely poisoned.
I tried to think past my brain's fuzzy haze and quickly knocked the guy out before he could do anymore damage. Then, I reached down in an attempt to pull out the knife and cast a healing spell. But, I didn't make it that far. All I managed to do was pull out the knife before the ground came rushing up towards me.
"Amu!" I heard a familiar voice call out and the last thing I saw before I blacked out was a man with dark blue hair running towards me.
"Iku…to?" I breathed and, just like that, I blacked out.
