Didn't think I was going to update for another month? ...Neither did I XD. Enjoy!
Chapter 11: Memories Remain Part 1
Rima's POV
As Amu cast the spell on us, a bright light filled my vision and surrounded me. Then, as quickly as it had came, the light disappeared and I was surrounded by shroud of darkness.
However, the darkness wasn't scary, as you would presume. It was comforting, enveloping me in a warm embrace like a blanket. My body felt free and weightless, like I saw soaring up in the sky.
Then, I came crashing down.
And I mean this literally. My body slammed into the hard ground and I groaned in pain as all the air was knocked out of my lungs. The world around me spun dizzily and in the back of my mind I registered a sweet smell as I stared up at the rotating night sky.
When I could finally catch my breath and the world around me stabilized, I shakily stood up. Looking around, I realized I was in a dandelion field. Rows and rows of the white flowers lined up around me and the tuffs of dandelion fluff floated around as the wind carried them about.
What was I doing here?
Suddenly, a piercing yell filled the meadow, interrupting the silence.
"FUJISAKI NAGIHIKO!" someone screamed and I whipped my head in the direction of the voice.
In the distance, I saw two figures running about. The one running ahead had long, indigo colored hair and was obviously Nagihiko. But, what was he doing here? I pushed the thought to the back of my mind and concentrated on the shorter figure lagging behind him. The person had long, maggie-like blonde hair that flowed behind her like a cape as she chased him.
I narrowed my eyes.
Wait...was that...me?
I hesitantly walked a little closer to them so I could see their features more clearly and saw with confirmation that it was really Nagihiko and I.
I watched with awe as I saw myself chase Nagihiko around the field and towards a steep slope.
The other me futility chased him for awhile, frustration obvious on her features as she missed him by a few inches every time. Nagihiko, on the other hand, was enjoying the game thoroughly as he laughed heartily at the other me's amusing attempts.
Finally, she successfully grabbed onto his shirt and her face lit up in triumph at her victory. But, it was only temporary as she tripped over her legs. Nagihiko reached out to try to catch her, but she ended up dragging them both down instead and there was a flash of yellow and purple as the duo tumbled down the slope.
I gasped as I saw the other me and Nagihiko tumble down the slope, for some reason, not worried about my, but rather Nagihiko's, well being as I chased their figures down the slope.
A wave of relief washed through me when I saw that he was fine, the two of them were laying side by side, panting from all the running. The other me's golden hair was tangled with his violet ones, the colors mixed together like paint on a palette.
I could see that Nagihiko's face was flushed from all the running as he propped himself up on one arm to see the other me's face. A small smile was obvious on his features as he stared at the blonde beside him. His eyes shimmered and his nose was slightly red from the cold air. I could see a weird expression on his face...an expression I wasn't use to seeing...love.
"Na-gi-hi-ko," the other me said sweetly, causing me to raise my eyebrows at her over sugary tone, "Stop looking at me or I'll whack you," she threatened, and I smirked. That was more like me.
"Been there, done that," he muttered softly, but the other me still heard him and gave him a death glare before she tried to turn away.
She didn't get to move far, however, as she let out a sharp cry of pain and her head snapped back. The other me laid back down to stop the pain then turned to face the problem, their hair was entangled in a sea of yellow and purple.
Nagihiko cringed and said, "Careful there Rima-chan or you are going to pull out our hair."
My eyebrows shot up, 'Rima-chan'? Since when were we ever so close. I never let anyone call me that. The girls were the only exception.
The other me grumbled, "Stupid hair," she muttered angrily as Nagihiko began to work on the mess.
After a good long while of screaming, hitting and untangling, Nagihiko was finally done and their hair was separated.
Without another word, the other me got up and stalked away, sending a bunch of dandelion fluff flying angrily away in her wake.
Nagihiko shocked his head and chuckled as he chased ofter the other me, "Don't I get a thank you?" he asked cheekily.
Her head whipped around at that and they started arguing. As they bickered, I felt the same sensation I felt when Amu cast the spell on me pull me away from the scene. The world faded around me and the last image I saw of them was Nagihiko grabbing the other me and kissing her full on the lips.
More and more scenes started to flash before me as more and more memories came back to me...and I remembered. I remembered everything.
And I remembered that we did not leave things on a happy note.
Before Amu had wiped out memories, Nagihiko and I had gotten into a huge fight. We'd been having a lot of relationship problems over the weeks preceding the incident and the final straw was when he had accused me of cheating when he saw me hanging out with another guy (in his defense I had blown off out date to see said guy but in my defense he was the idiot that asked me to go on a date after we just had a fight).
Things hadn't been pretty between us and we didn't have time to fix everything. Now, I didn't know what was going to happen.
I'm not sure how long passed since I blacked out, but suddenly the images stopped coming and my eyes flew open. I was greeted by a pale blue celling and a glaringly bright light shining in my eyes.
I groaned in pain as sat up and held my head in my hands, trying to stop the incessant pounding.
"Rima-chan?" a familiar voice called out timidly and I jerked up in shock at the sound of his voice.
"Nagihiko," I whispered, staring at him in shock.
Nagihiko smiled at me, though it seemed off, "Are you okay?" he asked hesitantly.
I tore my eyes away from him and folded my hands across my lap, "Perfectly fine," I replied curtly.
The light in his eyes seemed to dim a little at my sentence as he nodded understandingly, "I see," he said softly, "I'll leave you alone for awhile then," he whispered as he stood up and walked towards the door.
I watched him leave and just when he was about to open the door, I couldn't take it anymore.
"Wait!" I cried out, then internally cursed myself for showing weakness.
I blushed and turned away stubbornly as he looked at me with hopeful eyes.
"I'm sorry," I mumbled.
"What?" he asked, looking honestly confused and unaware of what I'd said.
"I'm sorry!" I screamed, causing him to stumble back a little.
Nagihiko stared at me in shock for awhile before a smile broke out on his face. And not the fake smile he'd been giving me earlier, but a real, true, happy smile.
"I'm sorry too," he apologized, though his tome was much gentler than mine, "I should have trusted you more."
I glanced up at him with a pleading expression and he chuckled, "I forgive you," he added.
Then he glanced at me with the same hopeful expression and I sighed, "I forgive you too," I muttered.
He smiled brightly and came back to my bedside. Glancing lovingly down at me, while I stared stubbornly up at him, he leaned down and kissed me.
Though I resisted at first (more out of habit than anything) I eventually melted into the kiss and tangled my hand through his purple locks.
"I missed you," he whispered as he pulled away.
"You didn't even remember me, how could you miss me?" I demanded embarrassedly.
He smiled, "I already told you. I could just feel that there was always something missing in my heart. You," he breathed as he captured my lips with his again.
