Epilogue: The Reunion
Normal POV
A young girl, looking no older than sixteen, sat on a bench by a playground, a gentle smile adorning her face as she watched the children play and laugh about.
The young girl had silky pink hair that was tied up into a bun and her outstanding locks were covered with a large, white sunhat resting on the crown of her head. Her honey gold eyes were shaded by the same hat and she wore a comfortable looking white dress that flowed till her knees. Her small hands were folded neatly on her lap as she sat patiently and waited for someone.
Not too far from her, there was a young man with midnight blue hair, a charming smile and dark blue eyes that twinkled happily. His expression looked cheerful and carefree as he played with a small girl, running and laughing about as she chased him.
The pink haired girl watched him with a delicate smile.
Not before long, the parents of the child came back and thanked him fervently for taking care of their daughter while they were gone. The young man merely smiled and replied that it was his pleasure and that they had a wonderful daughter. The parents thanked him again before they bade their goodbyes.
Still smiling contently, the young man then went to the nearby ice cream truck.
The pink haired girl saw this and stood up, her white ballerina flats glittered in the sunlight as the hat still covered her face.
"Two scoops of chocolate ice cream in a cone please," he told the cashier and she nodded.
He heard light footsteps as someone stood behind him to order, but he didn't acknowledge them but rather waited for his ice cream.
The honey eyed girl smiled at his lack of response as she lifted her head and her golden eyes fixed intently on the man before her.
And then, she spoke, and the ice cream suddenly didn't matter to him anymore.
"I'll have one strawberry and one chocolate in a cone please," the girl said, her soft voice ringing through area clearly.
The midnight blue haired man immediately whipped his head around at the sound of her voice.
Honey clashed with blue as she smiled up at him.
"Amu," came his ragged whisper as he stared at her in disbelief.
"Hi Ikuto, how have you been?" Amu asked pleasantly.
She acted as though they were old friends that haven't seen each other in a couple of months instead of lovers who haven't met in a couple of decades.
Ikuto reached out to touch her face, but then drew back, as if afraid that she was an illusion and on touch might just shatter her completely.
"Are...are you really back?" he asked, still completely stupefied.
She laughed her usual laugh, his favorite sound.
"Of course I am Ikuto!" she exclaimed and waited for him to make a move, and to her pleasure he did.
With one swoop, she was in his secure embrace again.
Finally, she let her facade down, tears roll shamelessly down her eyes.
"Oh god I've missed you," he whispered as he hugged her tight, trying to breath in her scent and ingrain the feeling of holding her again in his head.
Amu blushed and laughed, "Well maybe I didn't miss you," she teased good-naturedly as he pulled away to look at her again.
A smirk filled his face as he leaned in towards her so what their faces were merely an inch apart.
"Well, I think you just need a reminder of what you missed," his husky voice chimed seductively.
Amu's face turned crimson at the proximity and his words as she tried back away.
"Don't get rash Ikuto," she said nervously.
But, he didn't pay her any heed as he closed the gap between them.
Just then, a strong gust of wind blew from behind them and just like that, her sun hat was long forgotten into the wind.
The poor shopkeeper didn't know what to do and stood there with the ice cream cones in her hands as she stared at the couple.
THIS IS THE END LADIES AND GENTS!
First, I want to thank you guys so much for putting up with my inconsistent updating and other nonsense. This story was really hard to get through (especially a second time round!) and I want to thank you guys for sticking with me till the end.
I'm sorry if you guys feel like the end is not satisfactory but I wanted to leave it like this, I felt it more fitting than the wedding I gave them in my old version.
I want to thank everyone for reviewing because reviews are basically what get me through writing a chapter, and I want to thank Magical girl4 especially for her constant reviews! They really brightened up my day :D.
