A/N:
I absolutely love 'The Originals', so when I thought that I could do something not anime related, I instantly thought of this show. I know that a lot of people are skeptical of spin-off seasons, but I can't stop loving this one. I mean, both the story and characters are amazing - Well, Klaus at least :P

This was my story for the 'DO NOT ENTER' WritersChallange. In difference from the normal challenges, this one had a time limit on 7 days instead of the normal 24 hours, but did that do me any good? Well, no. It was supposed to be released on February 22nd, but the story was far from ready, so I chose only to share the link to my work in progress to the other participants.

Anyway, I've been working a little on it and I'm now at the point where I think it's good enough for your eyes. I know that it might not be like the stories I usually wright, but it's always good to try out new things, right?

So yeah, do tell me what you guys think okay?

"DO NOT ENTER"

The air was filled with a sweet smell. Each and every breath he took filled him with a longing, and craving so strong that he could think of nothing else.

"No. Please, don't."

The scent got stronger as he approached the source. It was a blessing spiced with pure iron. It bore a promise. A promise of power and strength. All he had to do was embrace it; feel its fluids fill his veins.

"No. N-no."

Finally. He could feel the prey underneath him. It was kicking, screaming, fighting back. It felt good and without a second of thought, he pinned her to the door.

Time to feast.

The sweetness filled his mouth.

"NOOOO!"

Elijah sat up with a jerk, his heart hammering as if he was alive once more.

It had happened again. The dream. It kept coming to him in his sleep, more times than he could remember. His mind told him that a repetition of this kind would have to be more than just a dream. There was probably something going on. But what? He had no idea. Every time he had thought it over or tried to take control of the nightmare, his mind had turned blank and he would wake up in his bed.

The door… He had seen a door. A door as red as the brightest crimson. For some reason it seemed familiar, but he couldn't quite put his finger on what it reminded him of.

He pushed himself up off the bed and went over to the bathroom. Being a vampire had multiple perks; one of them was the lack of hygiene problems. Still, Elijah was not a man that fought human nature, and besides, taking a shower always gave him a fresh feeling.

For several minutes he stood in the shower, letting the liquid fall on his shoulders and head; letting it run down along the skin of his torso and belly before gathering in a pond at his feet. The steam had filled the room and hid everything in a milky white fog. Elijah drew in a breath and let the condensated water fill his nostrils. Though the original hadn't added any soap or oil to it, the smell was a thick and mouthwatering one.

Iron…

When his family moved back after several years of absence, the house had undergone several changes and upgrades. This room however, had been left alone. When they had left New Orleans he had made it clear that this room was not to be touched. Marcell had kept that promise, so though the building had new pipes and drains, Elijah still had his old, rusty ones.

Blood…

That's what it reminded him of. Though the tastes were nothing alike, the smells could mix if your mind was put to it. Blood. His throat tightened only by the thought of it. He had fed as recently as last evening, but still the placebo made him yearn for more.

Grabbing the towel, Elijah stepped out of the shower. Even though his body was clean, his mind made him feel stained. He let out as sigh. The curse of being a vampire… He dried himself off and put the towel back on its hamper, when his own reflection caught his eyes.

"No. Please, don't."

She was running away from him, down the hall toward the red door; her feet leaving bloody footprints in her wake. He couldn't see her face but he knew what expression it would carry. The face of a prey, an animal desperate to get away. That would not happen. She would not get away from him.

"No. N-no."

Elijah swayed, and hurried to steady himself on the sink to prevent falling.

The door. Once again it had showed itself to him; and again without a single thread of information.

Elijah took a deep breath, calming himself while trying to regain focus. More than anything, he wanted to know. To learn of what was going on in his mind. Still, his head kept warning him, telling him to stay away from the door, to avoid and forget it. That if he did learn the truth of his dreams, there would be no way back.
